Xenoblade Chronicles developer Monolith Soft has recently reported an impressive 19% profit increase for the financial year ending March 2025.

As covered by Game Biz (thanks, Nintendo Everything), the company recorded profits of 487 million yen during the last financial year, which is up from 409 million yen the year prior. During this period, of course, Monolith developed and released Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition for the Switch, meaning that every core Xenoblade title is now available on one system.

Monolith is also known for its extensive contributions to other Nintendo properties, including Mario Kart World for the Switch 2, Splatoon 3, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Despite the increase, this isn't the best performance from Monolith Soft – far from it. According to the graph below, the company's highest performance came in 2021, during which it achieved nearly 1,200 million yen in profit.

Xenoblade Chronicles X on Switch is one of the most impressive game I've played on the console, can't wait to see what they're cooking for Switch 2.

It's good to see them doing well.
Honestly the only upsetting thing about having zero interest in the Switch 2 is not getting to play their next game.

I love Monolithsoft but a 19% increase in profit year over year is kind of a nothing burger.

Their last release was in 2022 and they released a remaster in the last fiscal. I would expect profits to be much higher given that the operating costs attached to a remaster are much less than a ground up title.

Fully deserved!
Looking foreward to their next game, it's almost guaranteed to be a system-seller for me if nothing grabs my attention before that. 🥳

Can't wait for what they're cooking up for Switch 2. Kinda hoping for Xenoblade Chronicles X2, but I am fine with whatever they want to make.

Switch 2 game library sucks currently. That problem goes away the minute we get 60 fps patches on all Xenoblade titles. Chop chop nintendo.
We absolutely need the patches, but the Switch 2 library is massive if you ignored the original console like I did. The backlog is scary right now for me.

Monolith Soft are one of my favourite devs out there, they deserve all the success.

I can't wait what they do with Switch 2.

If I would guess Monolith Soft is behind the Pokemon Scarlet/Violet Nintendo Switch 2 patch update because I refuse to believe Game Freak would even care to know what in hell DLSS is.

But Monolith is one of the best Nintendo have. They do did a good job overall.

Kind of odd they even evaluate them separately in terms of profit when they're a part of Nintendo. Does Nintendo pay them internally in fixed amounts for all the contract work? Odd.

Good for them but it should've been 119% profit.

How soon do you think we'll see a release of their Switch 2 game?

Looking at the pattern of the 1st production team's recent releases:

Xenoblade 2 - 2017
Torna - 2018
Xenoblade DE - 2020
Xenoblade 3 - 2022
Future Redeemed - 2023
Xenoblade X DE - 2025

2027 most likely. I would be surprised if they managed to release something big in 2026, but you never know since they are super efficient.

2nd production and the Kyoto team are just support studios.

They need to work on more games
Love those guys
I would kill for a game made by them but with a different combat system. It's the only reason I really can't get into their games.

Loved some of their previous works tho, like Super Robot Taisen OGSEF
