Anyone own the Delphi SkyFi or the Roady 2 and can comment on them pro or con?

The SkyFi seems versatile, but getting all those adapters seems pricy. The Roady 2 is attractive because it has an audio out and an FM modulator built in, which makes its $30 higher pricetag seem reasonable.

Just wondering how these things work inside, outside, etc.

im in the same boat as you. i've read up on the roady2 and it sounds cool because it is so small, and has many vehicle mounting options (vent mount!), cassette adaptor etc. I hear that you can mount the antenna on your dash and get pretty decent reception, but roof mount is ideal. and if you live in a big city you can leave your antenna inside and get perfect reception (lots of terrestrial repeaters)

i am torn between sirius and xm right now, i really wish they would make a reciever that worked with both so you could go back and forth. both have a lot of cool shit to offer as far as programming.

these are great sites for info on xm:

and sirius:

i just did a thread about XM 1-2 nights ago, so you m ay want to search that one up and see what people said..

i am torn between XM and Sirius... i want XM more i think, but sirius is cool too, and they both keep adding exclusive content..

but i think ill be going with XM, it just seems better and its cheaper, however I want Opie and Anthony, and thats a premium channel which is $1.99 a month,. so that makes it almost as expensive as sirius is monthly..

Sirius all the way. I'm not a user but I will soon buy their stock. Under $4 compared to XM's $24+. Sirius will soon be offerred in VWs, Nissans, Infinitis, BMWs, Fords, DaimlerChryslers, and Audis. The Howard Stern deal will only attract more exclusive programming to Sirius. Very exciting times we live in. Financials of the company will be released Oct 27, pray that I make some money.

well, the howard stern thing MIGHT not attract more stuff, possibly less.. as that deal was HUGE and they dont have a very large subscriber base as of right now.. XM has like 3-4 million, whereas Sirius is under a million last i heard... whats the new #'s on the two?

XM has more money to spend, so they are probably able to sign more deals, like the one they just made with MLB baseball...

Sirius just signed a great new NFL deal. 700k subscribers now but that number will reach 1 million by year's end. Ford has just joined VW, Nissan, Infiniti, BMW, DiamerChrisler, and Audi as Sirius partners. Things are looking up for Sirius. And they just into Walmarts.

I like Sirius cause they let you stream their stations online which is great cause I can't live in the car and I won't buy a home kit just to hook up to my stereo. XM has a PC setup for around $50 which lets you hook up XM through your PC which is pretty cool, but if your PC isn't near a window, you're screwed, but the interface some fan programmers have made for the software is cool.

The XM device has been discontinued. Though may be able to still find it if you look around. XM is planning on adding PC streaming from their website in the near future... it'll cost a few dollars/month and basically bring up their subscription price to the same as the Sirius price. I think the subscrib numbers put Sirius at just over 700,000 and XM at 2.5 mil. XM just signed a deal to broadcast all MLB games BTW. In terms of cars "XM is a popular factory-installed option on more than 50 new General Motors models, as well as a standard feature on several top-selling Honda and Acura models. XM is also available in many Avis rental cars and will be coming soon to JetBlue Airways and AirTran Airways."

Actually, the MLB deal is what convinced me to go with XM instead of Sirius. I don't give a crap about talk radio, just music and baseball.... Gotta admit though, the huge userbase of XM makes me feel better about taking the plunge.

Probably going to wait a couple months before I buy hardware though. Apparently they're going to introduce the SkyFi 2 real soon, as well as a few other units with FM modulators, smaller (stronger) antennas, time-shift capability, etc. Looks like gone will be the days when you need to buy a receiver and still spend $60+ on other adapters. Prices are coming down too, especially on older models (of course).

The baseball deal is a bit of a funny for me. MLB.com offers streaming radio for a monthly fee. I live in MI but want to catch Mariners games, and shelling out $150 a season for MLB.tv or the Extra Innings package is just too much. MLB.com radio was looking good, until they signed the XM deal, which in the long run costs the same but includes music too.

My biggest complain about the Roady is such a simple thing.

I can't see the # of the channel AND the artist AND the name of the track at the same time. It's only 2 of the above at once... mildly annoying, but besides that I love my XM Radio... though I'll have to re-evaluate just how much I love it to see if I want to switch to Sirius for Howard in '06.

What sucks is Sirius doesn't carry Fox Sports Radio, but I can't turn my back on the NFL Network either. *sigh*
