thanks gamespot.
So it sounds like a snowboarding game on pavement. Neat-o. Not a big surprise, but I'd thought for sure they would give the franchise a break for at least one year, a bit of downtime does a lot for some franchises. Now, Activision is flatly admitting that the series is going downhill--but not in quality. During today's earnings call, the company revealed that it is at work on a new Tony Hawk game, named Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam. Activision hasn't released any specifics on what platforms the game will be on or when it will be released, but it did say that it will hit the market in its upcoming fiscal year, which begins in April. "In fiscal 2007 we consider the extension of Tony Hawk, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, to be an important new IP for us and an extension of that franchise," said Mike Griffith, president and CEO of Activision Publishing.
The term Downhill Jam may be familiar to fans of skateboarding games. Downhill Jam was the name of one of the levels in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and it challenged gamers to speed down a paved decline, jumping gaps and scoring points along the way. Old-school gamers may also remember the Downhill Jam run from one of the original skateboarding games, Skate or Die!
