Yep, FedEx lost my package...

I've been in contact with "Kevin" from FedEx once a day since Wednesday, as they try to track down my package.

THE PACKAGE WAS TRAVELING A WHOPPING FOURTEEN MILES.

Not only that, the item, Atelier Iris, is no longer even in stock at the place I ordered it from. (Game Express)

Thanks FedEx!

so they reimburse u right? how does fed-ex handle this

Once they give up and declare it lost, yes, I get a refund, but...

1) This is a huge fucking hassle
2) One of the items I ordered is no longer in stock from the company

I still see copies of Atelier Iris at shops (both new and used), so don't worry too much.

There's a difference between $49.99 plus tax, and $43.99, no tax. I shouldn't have to pay roughly $10 more because FedEx doesn't know how to fucking drive from point A to point B.

No, you shouldn't, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I just brought that up so you don't fret over missing out on the game altogether.

Seriously, if the distro center is so close, you should try to contact them about picking it up there.

No, see, they don't know where the package actually is. The last thing they know is that it was on the truck for delivery last Tuesday, and the driver doesn't know what happened.

I mean for future bits of shopping, since you keep having problems with shipment from GXPress--which is just a short ride away.

He got drunk and used it for target practice.

OH NOES!

Well, let's preface this by stating I don't have a car... since I live in New York.

Game Express the online store is in NJ. I'm not traveling to NJ to pick games up, and besides, I don't think that's a physical storefront anyway.

FedEx is in Brooklyn. I'm not traveling to Brooklyn either.

I just complained today to Game Express that they should offer additional shipping options with UPS and the USPS, and they said they've actually been considering UPS for the past few weeks. Here's hoping they switch.

You don't "travel" to get your toilet paper, either. :P

UPS loses and damages packages too. Don't even get me started on the USPS, an organization that doesn't even want to hear the word "lost" until 2 weeks pass.

The USPS recently routed a package from PA to NY all the way to CA, and it's now back on its way to NY...

But anyway, in my experiences, UPS has always far exceeded FedEx. Granted, 95% of my UPS packages are Two-Day Air as opposed to Ground because of Prime, BUT, even in that One-Day Air FedEx experience (the fridge) they fucked that up too. So FedEx just hates me for some reason.

FedEx routed my iPod coming from California to Washington State to Alaska and China inbetween...

maybe you should start acting as your own shipping service, you know, using your arms and uh.. feet.

Except one of the big reasons I shop online is because I don't believe in the concept of sales tax, and think it should be repealed. (that, and I don't like to pay an extra 8.325%)

That reminds me of UPS. They sent my package to Colorado instead of Sweden since I had a similar postcode to them.

8.9% here in Washington State. But honestly, I'd rather pay sales tax instead of a state income tax.

New York State expects you to pay taxes on everything you buy online at the end of the year. Granted, there's no real way for them to CHECK to see if you're being honest with that part of the form, but it's likely a harbinger to them being among the states that force sites like Amazon to charge a sales tax.

Just to let you know, UPS fucking sucks even harder than FedEx. Sorry if that bursts your bubble.

it's a good thing you don't use any government services then

........... :lol :lol :lol :lol

You really think people fill that out on their state taxes? (and yes, I'm aware that part exists)

I figured that was the case, I just love how FedEx documents everything, making it look like it started out in California, then went to Alaska, then China, then Alaska, then Wyoming, then Washington.

Yep. Taxes may suck at times, but imagine how bad things would be without them. Damn Republicans, not everyone is wealthy enough to personally pay for all services.

why do you hate sales tax? and I want a reason other than 8.325% is too much (Lord knows it is, but that's not a good reason).

I simply don't feel it's right to be taxed just for the "right" to purchase something. Now perhaps one could argue that it's okay for items such as entertainement, and food [dining, not supermarket], but for things like toilet paper? Soap? Basic household needs? (except for food)

No, I'm sorry, I find that absolutely ridiculous.

?

Can you give me a better system of progressive taxation in order to provide basic, necessary services the state government provides (like building and maintaining roads and sewer systems)? Or would you rather roads and other public services (like the police and fire department) were entirely controlled by private entities?

Even though the package was to be delivered only 14 miles away....I believe that FedEx ships ALL packages to a central place (somewhere in the south maybe Tennesee) gets sorted then shipped back out. So your package may only need to go 14 miles but it probably traveled hundreds of miles.

It's weird but that's what they do.

yeah, what he said. Interstates are built with tax dollars. Public services are kept running with tax dollars. many other things, such as police and fire and paramedics are paid with tax revenues. would you like it if one day you heard, "I'm sorry sir, but your bill isn't paid up so we can't help you with your burglary. have a nice day." Some of these services are privatized in England though (such as water) and I guess they're doing OK with it.

also, in some states food isn't taxed (such as here in WA).

Of course not, which is why it's likely going to be mandatory for online merchants.

0.0% in Oregon :D

My local delivery people for all 3 companies are idiots. The USPS driver tried to deliver the package to the person who's door is 10 feet away from mine, with me standing there the whole time telling him that he's going to the wrong place. Fedex misdelivers packages but they at least try to get the house number right (oooh but the street is waaaay off). UPS doesn't even bother to knock and they've lost a few packages too.

I now have a 8-foot tall cat tree coming via UPS. I waiting to see how they're going to screw this one up.

I know, and I love you for that. But you also have a state income tax, correct?

If I know that I'll be heading down to Portland or Eugene in the near future, I hold off on buying most frivolous things so I don't have to pay sales tax.

see, I live in Vancouver right on the Oregon/WA border so I hear a lot of Oregon news. for example - all those times that Oregon schools have had to close down from lack of funding. Another example - all those times Oregon voters vote down a sales tax to raise money for said public schools.

Yes, it takes about $77 (6.5%-ish) out of my check every 2 weeks. Since I don't see that money to begin with it I don't really miss it. I'd rather pay the face-value of an item than the value + tax.

That's because Oregon school districts throw away their funding to pay for overpriced superintendants. The school systems can't even manage the money they're given. I get to hear all the misused funding horror stories from my BF's mom who happens to be a teacher. She is not angry at voters, she's angry at the school board.
