It's just that now probably everyone has figured out which kind of popups can trick it, and everybody's using them. IE is the same way, unless you go with the exclusive blocking where you have to specify which sites are allowed to have popups.
I'm not sure if you're agreeing or disagreeing with me, but that's how it is from my experience - both IE and Firefox used to be a lot more successful at blocking popups than they are now. It doesn't seem that far fetched to expect ad-annoyance developers to be smart and agile, much like spammers, which always come up with new ways to trick filters.Same old security is nothing more than limited userbase BS.

Nintendo fans are annoying as fuck but making repeated posts about how the DS looks and feels like a $19 Tiger Electronics handheld to rile them up is still trolling.Matlock said:It's not trolling if it's true.
DarthWoo said:What I really hate about Firefox is the popups it creates on its own to tell me that it couldn't load a page. I can read an error page just fine; I don't need a new popup popping up over whatever I happened to be doing in another page while waiting for the other one to (not) load... It's especially irksome when playing online trivia and such things.
Even better, if I'm trying to load the other page in a new tab or window, it can't even keep the damned url in the address bar so that I can at least try to refresh it, instead of having to go back to the first page to click the link again.
I still don't even know what the hell you guys are talking about.Vlad said:That bugged the hell out of me at first, too. There's a fix, though.
In Firefox, type "about:config" into the address bar and hit enter. Then go to the value "browser.xul.error_pages.enabled" and set it to "True".
Hitting refresh to try the page again still won't work, but the error page does give you a "try again" link which works just as well.

Aside from that, more and more sites are figuring out how to get around Firefox's pop-up blocker, but Firefox still blocks the overwhelmingly vast majority of them for me.

there's a form on the website where you can get the code emailed to you again, I forget the particulars but it worked for me.Mashing said:LOL... I was the one who originally told you about that. Ironically enough I don't use it anymore (reloaded, couldn't find my registration code). But I haven't had a problem with popups but my browsing habits are..... good).
