hopefully as playstation exclusives
I wouldn't count on that. SIE can't even get a timed exclusive from Pearl Abyss, I doubt they'll have luck with Square-Enix going forward considering what their CEO's been signaling. Tho SIE largely have themselves to blame for that, IMHO.
Anyway, I'd be SUPER down for a new Parasite Eve but like
jshackles
was saying, return it to its roots. Games like Metaphor and BG3 are showing you get still get a ton of mileage out of turn-based combat systems in RPGs, and even spice them up with some good pacing and pseudo-real time elements. Romancing SaGa 2 Remake's success shows people want that out of SE's own games, too.
But last I heard, people were telling me the original author hated what SE did with the IP and they've been the reason a new game's been MIA. Maybe if SE approach them with a good pitch that returns the game to the original's roots, the author or whoever owns the IP rights will let them go ahead with a new installment.
Not sure why people want Parasite Eve to be a REmake clone when PE had a unique hybrid battle system mixing regular attacks with Parasite(PE) abilities.
First time I've seen anybody wanting a REmake style take on Parasite Eve. Personally, I want something that still has the fixed camera angles like REmake, but with the non tank controls PE had, and a turn-based combat system that's more dynamic and fluid than what the original one had.
Budget-wise something similar to Romancing SaGa 2 Remake would be just fine. Doesn't need to be Rebirth-tier in budget, in fact I think SE are going to largely shift away from that approach going forward but that is a different convo.
