These pics are probably fake but they were posted by the same guy.

What exactly is supposed to be going on in the video? Is the car actually appearing as a hologram in "real life" or is it only on the videoscreen?

Probably a stupid fake either way...

The video is real, but the association to Nintendo (probably) isn't. The video was posted before, it certainly is possible, it uses an eyetoy like technology, but probably using infrared cameras for depth. Sony has been experimenting with infrared cameras too, so we might get stuff like this with PS3, if not Revolution. It's like an implementation of that IGN speculation about mapping the real world into levels in games e.g. mapping your room into a game, and then having it happen in "your room" on screen.

Remember the comment by the Gran Turismo guy saying that in the next Gran Turismo or something you could be able to put YOUR car into the game? *hint *hint

The video is true. What's happening is the car is virtual ( he is controlling it with the pad ) but the environment is real (the castle,...) and the car react perfectly. They call it "AUGMENTED REALITY".

The software is called "D Fusion". See http://www.t-immersion.com/ for more info

If so, it'll have NOTHING to do with the technology displayed in that video.

That is amazing

Could someone post the old thread?

It's not that old. I tried finding it as soon as this thread was posted, but couldn't. Could have swore it had Whoa in the title... but that yielded jack.
