Dang I think my dreamgame list is over 300 now so I only bore ya guys with a few I'm still sorting out in daydreams yet P.
1) Jaime Little Fish- Shooter/Platformer like hybrid that uses or rides big fish. Alot techno and extreme funky like levels and music. It would seem light hearted to most but those that looked closer as it goes on would see secretly it would be based on what a child dying/going through chemotherapy/type of cancer would feel like with the later levels/designs and her weakened state/side effects giving hints to that and last boss being symbolic of her finding peace alone and moving/passing on.
2) Generalizing I like to see more survial horror games without extreme gore yet still scary so everyone can enjoy, like Something Wicked This Way Comes. Koontz Snow novels Or Watchers in the Woods like. Perhaps play off the monster in closet theme we all go through as kids, use the dream world to break into reality. Alot cool old barns, windmill settings, spiders, and outdoor settings then typical rusted indoor SH of late.
3) Darkstalkers action rpg, come on Capcom!
4) An Adventure Genre return with new hot tech mechanics, perhaps where voice recognition makes it hot again replacing limited hot icon clicks with innovative voice commands to perform actions and interact with npcs and environs.
4) Likely too ambitious yet with the current tech but a High School sports like sim. You could even simulate few hours of classes/grades, friends, sneaking out of house and what sports you went out for. So you could play football, track, basketball, wrestling, etc depending on seasons and your choices all the way down to who you picked on, who your dating, what you did night before would all affect the outcome. You could even play flag football on weekends with your friends in great fall weather. It sure would teach EA a lession about NFL license if sports play were very good and tight. I'm not a sport's nut myself but this would likely be the only way I would get into one, though I'm sure thousands have had an idea like this as well ala Dawsons Creeks meets Insert sports title equals GTA like free world.
5) I must have million rpg ideas since neither jrpg or western ones have used alot serious story elements yet. Heck we have yet to have our own LOTR epic rpg in common overused fantasy settings let alone any main characters getting serious injured or disabled. I guess they figure todays gamer doesn't want to play as now gimped character but from an indie perpective there is alot to offer in that situation to a serious rpger even if was so only 1/3 of the game. Nor I remember playing as what I thought were the heroes of the game to find out what I did was actually evil and I am last boss of theh game and decide to protect myself or die. To save pure boredom I'll generalize only quick few.
a)Common things never used : An rpg as band of traveling rovers, you'd take your wagon and party through eerie desert birdlike world at first, performing at towns until you get sucked in as the "unlikely heroes" with a class like pransker/joker, performer, rogue/thief skills, etc where combat is more based on agility, avoidance, theft instead of brute force.
B)Scifi setting with main enemy manipulating time to change events that killed someone he cared for as he disrupts the world trying find right way to change that one event. I kinda gave up on this idea now that we have Groundhog day and Butterfly Effect out there it seems more like a ripoff but general idea of changing events and helping people could be addicting plus the lessons of do we have right to and does it all lead to same fate anyhow?
C) AO RPG market, I think if the focus was still on gameplay and story and not just relying on sex cutscenes that there is market for this. I always thought Dragon Knight's were rather fun back in the day and this genre along with Elf seemed to have died out ages ago and got replaced by lazy pc text adventures where you dont actually have much of game engine. There could be some hilarous battles as well, flashing enemies in disgust or glee to distract them, being suprised by which outcome, mooning, etc.
D)RPG that would use some new age elements for change, like reincarnation or more eastern mystical themes. Imagine a fantasy world where when you see the game over screen you would actually (die) be transported down into another "layer" of world, starting as a new person/party perhaps, eventually realizing you have a vague memory of living before and having meet your companions previously. This could be a rare opportunity for change, avoiding the boredom you find half way through rpg by adding new combat elements all over again each time. The goal would obviously be to survive each world as long as possible before dying, collecting and getting more powerful as that would effect your next "life"in some way as well trying find the answers you seek as you realize more and more you had an pre-life existence. Ultimate goal being to get to the final 5th layer of the core of the world against the "book of life". For with which each world created for us to experience there is a book that goes with it for us to interact with.(hints at bible included)
E)Action RPG- Twin male elves cursed to never meet as the legend goes. One by the snake and another by the moon. One by sword and one by bow. Based deeply in eygptian like lore. Setup where given the option to either play single, take turns controling them trying to steer them together or two player zelda like interface with friend or online bud. 50 percent would be about where curse be broken and then you play together or control both( AI, Voice recgonition for single player) as you take on the forces responsible for this curse as child and possibly cliche' world destruction. Nothing fancy just something that popped up during the days when we looking for more mature zelda killer and gamer still asking why there is not zelda like game friends can play together too often.
