[Lights and Waves]

I’ve been on a Power Rangers kick in anticipation for the new movie. I saw that they were selling the old words at Toys R Us and it inspired me to do some digging on YouTube where I found really well-produced “history of power rangers” videos that some passionate fans have made.

What is your favorite zord/megazord?

Bonus question: If I want to jump in and watch some of the newer power rangers, are any of them worth my time? The last one I saw was Time Force when I was a lad and I really loved that it was story-driven.

The older I get, the more I realize that I was a closet Power Rangers fan as a kid. Anything with lore, I can get into, and Power Ranger has lore. Maybe not the best lore, but there's lore.

Remember the lead up to Zeo? With the vignettes? That was an amazing way to build suspense.

Easy. The season that repopularized the series and saved it from being canceled:

I had such a huge crush on Andros, TJ and Zhane. And In Space was the first season with serious character development for the villains. The story was fairly dark, and In Space is special in particular for being connected to and closing out the previous five seasons' plot.

Rather than spar with every villain, why didn't they summon that Titanus thing every time and just one shot them and call it a day?

Space is a close second for series, though.

Most of fans will say that In Space is the best season, and is my favorite one too

But another really good season that is really underrated is RPM. And RPM also have a GREAT character development, all of the Rangers have a personal story that is showed during the series

I think it was some lame excuse that Zordon shared in the earlier episodes where they must conserve power or shouldn't go beyond what is necessary or nonsense - my childhood memory is kinda flaky right now.

Fox Kids did a very good job in hyping up the mystery behind the Zeo crystals in these preview trailers and vignettes. Then the day comes, that intro hits - dramatic choir and all - then to remind us that it's still the Power Rangers, it falls back to the original theme. Good stuff.

Ninja Storm, I actually liked all the rangers for once. I cant remember any zords from any of the series though. Ninja Storm intro was fire too.

Best season is the first one with Lord Zedd (I think MMPR season 2?), closely followed by Light Speed Rescue
Best Zord is Cyclopsis. Best ranger zord is Shogun Megazord.

Tie between Thunder Megazord and Time Force Megazord. The combination sequence with the extended theme and the sword at the hip puts Thunder Megazord up there for me, while Time Force Megazord's dual combat modes were impressive. Super Train gets runner up for size and the combination sequence.

As for favorite season, although season one had some crap moments, the fight in the dark dimension between Jason and Goldar puts season one above everything else for me. I legit thought Jason was done for in that fight. Zeo and Time Force for runner up.

Least favorite season is Turbo. Hated that season so much, even more than the season when the Rangers were turned into kids and had to get the Zeo crystal pieces.
