Your longest marathon gaming session

Archie

Second-rate Anihawk
What is the longest time that you have spent playing a game without sleep? My longest time playing a game would have to be with Everquest. There was a snow griffin that had an incredibly small chance of spawning once every 10 minutes. He would drop a quest piece for a really nice mask that gave self haste. I spent nearly 18 hours camping this bastard, and was insane by the time I killed him. Sadly, I replaced that mask a few weeks later. Looking back, I wasted so much time on EQ. (nearly 300 DAYS played) :(

i hope you were single with no job :)

I think i'd have to say WoW was my longest with maybe a 13/14 hour stint. Nowhere close to 300 days though. Probably between 40-50...

Counter strike, a few years ago. I believe it was from 7 PM till 8 AM in the morning.
Back when CS still had a cool community.

and I read the topictitle as "Your longest masturbation session" lewlz.

I was 16 and had more free time than I knew what to do with. EQ really screwed up my grades though, I'd skip school to play and went from straight A's to C's. I won't touch another MMORPG with a ten foot pole now. :P

I think it was Final Fantasy IX, and it's one of my least favorite FFs... The Chocobo hot & cold treasure hunt mini-game was so addicting, I kept playing until I passed out.

I used to play Ultima Online and Everquest for 24+ hours on several occasions. Even used to take short powernaps during the longest camping marathons which could take days.

But I'm to old and lazy nowdays to camp and grind stuff in games...

I think I've spent 12+ hour sessions on each of the various Novalogic Delta Force games (including Joint Ops & the expansion)

It seems to mainly be FPS games with variety and multiplayer that hold my attention for extended periods.

When I was 15 a friend and I rented Final Fantasy II on the SNES and played straight through it without stopping. Looking back on it now I don't know how I could ever do that.

Nowadays if I spend 2 hours on a game it's a long time.

Back in high school me and two other friends made the mistake of renting Secret of Mana two days before the ACT test. With Coke and Dr. Pepper as our fuel we played for 20 hours straight, we just could not stop. Well there were breaks for food and stuff, but sleep was not an option. From 4pm to noon the next day we just could not believe we were playing a 3 player Zelda mixed with a bit of RPG character building. What a great time. Somehow I still did ok on my ACTs, probably because I crashed until the next day.

Last year I began combing through my backlog and played Devil May Cry from start to finish one Sunday. It took 8 or 10 hours, I'm not sure.

Splinter Cell 2 and BF2 sessions from 19.00h till 8.00-9.00 in the morning.

But omfg @300 days played, thats almost a fuckin year you wasted...

Hmmm...hard to say. A few times this gen I have played 8 or so hours in a row (yes, I'm single) but back in the day 12 hours was semi-common. I distinctly remember playing Ninja Gaiden III for 13-14, only stopping to urinate or eat.

Time is a rare commodity these days. *glares at GAF*

40 hours is my record (for a gaming session without interruption), this was at a lan party where we played counter strike and starcraft mainly.

And last year Ive poured over 1500 hours in World of Warcraft, thats february through august.

My longest marathon gaming session occurred when I first bought and played a console RPG. That game was Earthbound, and I basically played a series of 12-hour a day sessions until I beat the game.

I've gone around 20 hours before just playing random stuff with friend on a weekend. 15 hour sessions were fairly common back in my high school days. I used to play BG1 and 2, Fallout 2 and Diablo 2 nonstop. Recently I did have about a 10 hour session with Chrono Trigger, I was just lucky to have the time and the will to do it. My next long session will probably be with Earthbound.

Maybe about 30 hours on Final Fantasy XI without sleeping. I didn't eat or drink either for that matter. Took me 4 days to recover...

Total time spent on FFXI: ~110 days (2500+ hours)

when i was a kid me and my boy got to my house after basketball practice and popped in a game my father got me( Super Tecmo Bowl )

so we decided to start a game... Liked the game so we said lets start a season!!!!!

well him and I started a 17 week season and 11 hours later I lost in the afc conference championship and he went on to win the superbowl.... I loved having no responsibility back then.....this is the game that hooked me onto the KC chiefs!!! (nigerian Nightmare fo lyfe)

Gran Turismo 4, eight hours around Motegi in A-Spec mode, with the steering wheel.

God, I love that game.
are there also 5 hour marathon's in that game? It seems so amazing fun to drive around the same track for hours after eachother.

When I had the flu a couple years ago, I was too sick to move. So I just sat on the couch and played PS2 for about 10 hours a day. I was sick for about two weeks so that was about 140 hours of gaming...at least. I think I blazed through FF7 in about four days, quickly beat Jak and Daxter, conquered Final Fantasy X, and got a 94% in Gran Turismo 3. My PS2 not surprisingly started crapping out after that, probably because it was being used constantly. Once I got better, I played the PS2 constantly to completely beat GT3.

Good times.

I've been playing Reel Deal Casino Quest for 15 hours straight with a friend at my place. Slot machines all night long baby!

If you've got a pair you can try your hand at a 24 hour race.

I'd still like to try that if I can find two or three other people to do it with me.

Well, I invested over 100 hours in Final Fantasy VII, but that was over a span of months and months. I'd say my longest single-sitting session is a tie. One was the night me and my best friend played Super Smash Bros. Melee from like 8pm until 5am, the latter half of which we worked on doing the perfect target mode run with Dr. Mario (I'll have to snap a pic of the time... I DARE any of you to beat it). The second was playing the original Resident Evil from like 11am 'til 10pm (until I beat it).

I remember one summer, a friend of mine knocked at the door one morning. He tells me to get dressed and come over. So I get up and walk on over to his place. His cousin and his brother were already waiting. So I plop down and we begin a sick marathon session of Super Bomberman. I don't think we finished until like 2 in the afternoon the next day.

I did 46 hours straight on Everquest once. Never again, never, ever, everrr.... I felt like I was tripping by the time I actually got in bed, it took me another 2 hours to finally pass out.

my longest marathon was with Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. I had a bunch of friends over the house, and we had a tournament with it that lasted over 24 hours. It was nuts and afterwards I was victorious over them all!

3 days to beat Secret of Mana back when it came out.
We only had 6 hours of sleep per day.

And we were bad because it certainly isn't a 60 hours game lol

13 hours Monkey Target on Super Monkey Ball.

The music almost makes me vomit when I hear it now, but the games so good that I persevere. I did have to have a good few months away from playing it again though.. seriously.

Xenogears

I turned into a hermit for it. I had friends calling and coming over asking me what the fuck I was doing. Literally sat in my room all day playing, probably 18 hour sessions.

I loved every second. Goddamnit, that game was great. :(

I'm not sure, but it would probably be around 6-10 hours with Ocarina of Time, Xenogears, FFVII, and most recently, Dragon Quest VIII. So nothing spectacular since I never had that amount of free time and usually my brain would tell me that I should stop.

Fucking Stormfeather.

It wasn't completely uninterrupted, but over a course of two days (1 PM on Saturday to like 11 PM Sunday), my two best friends and I just played Dreamcast so much. Soul Calibur, NBA2K, and NFL2K. Man, that system blew our minds.

78 hours on Diablo 2 1.03, preparing games for GERBarb on the race to lvl99 against RUSBarb. The two were extremely close at that time and Russian PKers used to stir up our games thanks to a mole on the main team. I fetched new cigarettes and coke a couple of times but didn't feel like going for a shower. It was both the best as well as the worst gaming session I've ever had
