YouTube Gaming chooses to celebrate Ninja for 14 years on YouTube while forgetting that AVGN has been on YouTube for 20 years.

Board James is better than those! :lollipop_tongue:

Seriously, the way it degrades from "just board games reviews" into what it becomes in the last few episodes is worth the watch lol

I do really enjoy classic AVGN, and there's a lot of behind the scenes controversy that's pretty entertaining, but Board James is the best actual show they produced.

Yeah, fuck YouTube....AVGN is a goddamned legend and literally the only reason I even watched YouTube for fucking YEARS before anyone else even came close to what they were doing.

Haven't watched AVGN in years (the movie break kinda killed it for me) so had to check out how the channel is doing.

Nearly 4M subscribers, AVGN videos still get hundreds of thousands of views minimum (saw a couple in the 1.5 million range) and even off brand video get 10s of thousands and into the hundred thousand range.

Certainly not on the level of the old stuff but still pulls in plenty of views!

James Rolfe had his ups and downs, but if anyone, he is the soul of the gaming YouTube in general and just a real human being despite 20 years of Internet Spotlight. Vastly enjoying his recent episodes after a bit of a slump.

At the same time Ninja died along with Mixer (Twitch clone), at least in my social bubble.

It'll be a sad day when the Nerd finally quits making videos. I still rotate between AVGN and Red Letter Media playlists to fall alseep to every single night, and it's been years now at this point. Never fails that once a night I either wake up to the AVGN theme song as it's super jarring to sleep through, or I wake to Rich Evans laughing maniacally.

They dont care about gamers or games, they just want whatever it sells... and the streamers for the tik tok kids is in demand.

Gaming should have never hit main stream media

Man that one is a blast from the past. I think I'm going on a Board James binge tonight.

Same! Except I've rotated in Game Sack to replace RLM as of late. I did about six months of Scott The Woz too, haha.

I checked up on AVGN a few weeks ago first time in a couple of years (was an avid watcher 10+ years ago) and I was so pleasantly surprised to see that his videos still pull good numbers, honestly very unusual for such an old creator that hasn't changed much of his content.
