It's not Jason Lee because the studio said no. he wasn't "bankable" enough. Since Lee isn't allowed I'm perfectly fine with Braff being young Fletch...better than Jimmy Fallon that was rumored a while back...or Affleck.

I have huge issues with anyone but Chevy Chase playing Fletch. The only reason I'm not completely down on this project is that Kevin Smith is behind it.

Well...it's a prequel so it'd have to be a younger Fletch. Chevy is getting old and fat and not nearly as funny in his old age. Maybe he can have a cameo

Yep, I agree completely. Watched the first 15 minutes of one Fletch movie on TBS a while ago, and it wasn't very funny. I'd rather have a new version of The Jerk. Now that is a classic comedy!
