Well least now there's a connection between Iraq and Al-Qaida.

Lol, I can see them actually using this for a future defense of their actions.

I just totally shocked that this man has an excellent chance of being re-elected. Any other person probably would've been impeached by now.

I laughed at this but really I wouldn't be surprised if it was used as an example for previous links. Considering the amount of spin going on, I'm sure they could make this look real good for the administration somehow.

Heck, I'd like to see how Ripclaw twists this one.

I see you all posting the usual jeers (mockery of "Mission Accomplished" is still absent) but where is the big indictment of the Bush adminstration in this story?

A known terrorist suspected of being in league w/Al Qaeda now announces his solidarity with them and Usama bin Laden? And...? Why is this such an event? To me it reeks of desperation given the recent defeats in some former insurgent strongholds in Iraq by the hand of the U.S. and newly trained Iraqi soldiers.

In case you SERIOUSLY want to know what the indictment of Bush is in this story -- which, by the way, you don't, because it's like you're going to change your (alleged) mind based on anything myself or anyone else might tell you: Bush has been claiming that the situation in Iraq has been getting better, when in fact a) Al-Zarqawi is completely uncontrolled at this point, b) the tempo of attacks on both Americans and Iraqis by insurgents has been going UP, not down, and c) the argument that invading Iraq made the world safer is countered by the ESTABLISHMENT of a NEW link between ANOTHER terrorist group and Al Qaeda.

Mission accomplished, my ass. "Recent defeats," my ass. More people die EVERY DAY in Iraq. Again: get a fucking clue.

Maybe if the Dem's didn't put up the biggest turd since Dukakis this wouldn't be such a close race.

I can't refute one way or another much of this post, but we have shown in the past an ability to strike at insurgents presumably at will. I remember When Al Sadr's Mahdi Army was "running unchecked". Maybe this time he got the message, maybe not, but we've essentially whipped the shit out of him and his followers every time they've got uppity with us.

Enough of the one-liners, humor me and tell me why this is such a devastating development.

Well it seemed devastating enough to give Bush reason to go into Iraq. Now that it's actually happenining it's not that bad of a thing eh?

john kerry is a turd... it should have been howard dean vs george w bush for a true race of character.. bush believes in what he says, dean believes in what he says, both will do what they say... it would have been a true referendum by the american people.

i have no clue what the differences are right now, besides kerry will do everything bush is doing "but better" and with germany and france?

howard dean could have revitalized and changed the democratic party for the better... john kerry has mortgaged the democratic parties future.
