Being understandable doesn't necessarily make it right.
His team sucking and losing doesn't given him leeway. So if OSU were number 1 in the nation and Marcus was being billed as the next Kobe people would hold him to higher standard? I'm trying to be fair to Marcus and everyone else on that court.
Marcus could have walked away. He could have whispered fuck you and went to the bench. Instead he got a technical and might be suspended, which doesn't help the team. I mean really what's the upside here?
It is easy. Don't push people. Don't touch people. Don't escalate stupid situations. He isn't 13. He is 20. He knows their are consequences to dumb stuff he does. He lives in a post Ben Wallace world. You are making it seem oh so easy.
he isn't thinking about any of that shit during the moment. It is easy to say you should walk awya before or after something like this as yes you should but its not as easy in the moment. The last thing your mind is thinking of it I might be suspended..you mind is gone into raaaaaage mode by this point thanks in part to all the other shit.
It's not easy when you are in that situation and unless you were in that situation and you managed to walk away, you really don't know how you'd react.

It's not easy I guess but you know doing hard things is kind of inevitable, and if the hardest thing you have to do is not shove someone over a basketball game, consider yourself blessed.

I didn't say it was right. I said it was understandable because he is human and no one is perfect. People get angry and do stupid things, especially teenagers who have adrenaline running through their system and are losing in something that they love. No one is completely logical and clear-headed all of the time. And what he did was pretty tame. He shoved a guy. Was it right? Of course not. Should he have done it? No. But he did. Whatever
Frankly, I find it rather disgusting that you (well, to be fair, its mostly Kevtones) seem obsessed with proving that Smart is a piece of shit human being or something like that. I mean, why?
It must be incredibly hard. That's explains why so many college athletes push fans during games all the time. It's not easy. You don't know what you're talking about.

The guy is infamous for embellishment and simulation...I already responded to a similar claim earlier but in your previous post you stated that it's entirely possible given the circumstance that he just flipped out over any old jab.. but now you're saying that in the seconds following the incident he would immediately think about his pro career? Judging by the video he was still angry and expressing why even after getting hit with the T. So which situation do you feel is most likely because right now it appears like you're playing devil's advocate rather than trying to evaluate the situation neutrally.

The big fucking problem with remnants argument is hes forgetting this kid is 20 and we can make mistakes in the heat the moment in our lives at that age.
Depending on the person, it can be easy, but I wouldn't force that type of thinking to every young athlete. Its not easy...13 and 20 might as well be the same age when you think of the atmosphere that hes around at college.
I'm trying to be objective to the situation by not asserting anything until we know. I have no stake in Smart or anyone for that matter. My only assertion is that he's a millionaire-in-waiting that should have the assurance to not let somebody affect him that way.
Read harder, bro.

How many 18-20 year olds pushed fans in College basketball in the past 10 years?
No one is an angel 24/7 but I don't excuse the dumb shit I do.wow some people must be robots or something.
I am not saying what he did was right and yes he should have better judgement but for fucks sake man.....people can have emotions and sometimes said emotions makes you do dumb shit,....sometimes out of body dumb shit (Smart can come off a well adjusted guy for example).
It's like some of you never got angry and said or did something dumb. Bunch of saints in here apparently.
This is coming from a guy who has never been in a fight my entire life and the most angry I have ever been has been at goddam videogames and shit. So I never been angry enough to come to blows (partially because I am sure I'd get my ass beat haaaaard) but I do understand that you do dumb shit when your emotions aren't right.
apparently I am weird for that.
or some people in here are angels 24/7
Whatever happens, Smarts surprising decision to return to school for his sophomore year is becoming more regrettable by the game. A young man who would have been a lottery pick in 2013 is seeing his stock plummet as the Cowboys season spirals into a disaster.
Smarts previously excellent reputation has been sullied by successive incidents and issues. He kicked a chair on the Oklahoma State bench twice on Jan. 25 during a season-low, four-point performance against West Virginia, and later tweeted out an apology. Hes also gained an unfavorable reputation for flopping in an attempt to draw fouls, and has chafed about what he considers unfair officiating.
This is nothing. Watch cantona kick a dude

Smart still should have walked away. The problem I have is with people that try and completely absolve the booster from any role in the confrontation. Like fans should have free reign to just spout awful, awful things and it's not a big deal.

"Oh I was young."
"Oh I was angry"
" oh I was stressed."
" oh we'll he started it."
Would you say that if he swung? If he seriously injured the guy? If he started a brawl? I'm seriously wondering.
Or that the two examples from the last 10 years of college/nba basketball are the Palace brawl or the 'slap' that has no videographic evidence (Memphis game 6 years back).
Again 99.9% of these athletes handle themselves. Marcus Smart didn't today. That's what we know.

What? There are 20 yr old men and women with real responsibilities holding shit down as we speak. When you are 20 you are an adult. No excuses. No matter how serious a game is.The big fucking problem with remnants argument is hes forgetting this kid is 20 and we can make mistakes in the heat the moment in our lives at that age.

Read the thread. Their are plenty of "it was just a push. He is just a kid. It's not that big a deal. The booster was worse despite not touching him."Please point out the posts saying that Smart should be absolved of any responsibility for this.
Then it sounds like you are deluding yourself because that is not the impression that you are giving off.

And that great, but my first post in this thread alluded to the idea that very prevalent on twitter and here that the booster deserved it or was the worse person because he said the n word, which apparently isn't true. I'm sure we all agree that smart and this booster guy will get punished, but their seems to be idea that Smart was the victim here, where from what I see he is the one who took it over the line. One could agree with all of those thoughts while still believing that Smart should be reprimanded.

I'll tell you as soon as you tell me how many players were told to go back to Africa in the last 10 years.
Until then, you keep putting these athletes into your own little box.

hahah
Read up on Smart. He's a good kid on a bad streak right now. Tonight seems like shit hitting the fan and I'm glad it was just a shove. The fact is wasn't more, given his recent troubles, is probably indicative that he's a pretty good dude who made a mistake.
To think this guy would've been at least the number 5 pick last year. The cherry on top of a disastrous season.

You should recite this to remnent...He's going at the young man like hes the 2nd coming of Ron Artest.
Is this the one where the player had recently switched teams and went celebrating in front of his former fans? I remember something like that.
