So is Breaking Bad hyperbole the same The Wire hyperbole? Or is it "insert any show I don't like as much as others" hyperbole. Where is this objective list that is factually correct with the list of tv shows deserving the exact amount of praise it deserves?

I jest of course. But I swear, as someone that is a huge TV buff and has seen almost every show to come out in the last 10 years, there is always hyperbole, and someone complaining about hyperbole. I remember people complaining about the Wire being lauded.

Edit: maybe this is why the average person isn't a critic. :p

Haha.

Fair enough, different strokes for different folks. I found Vikings to be incredibly campy, it's like Game of Thrones without the well written dialogue and political intrigue.

I mean if you want your head chopping and maiden defiling, I guess it fits the bill.

yeah brah. all i really care about in any of those shows is if they have characters i'm feeling. and right now vikings got that more than the other two for me at the moment. but eh it changes from time to time.

The thing I don't get is if you aren't going to give the insane praise to shows like The Wire, Sopranos, Band of Brothers and Breaking Bad... Who are you going to give it to?

I'd love to see these shows that I've missed that are supposedly more deserving of praise.

Ok seriously? This last episode was off the charts. I was hoping they would do some undercover stuff ever since MM's character mentioned working undercover before in the earlier episodes. And they did do it. Incredible episode 10/10.

as soon as the episode finished, i was like wait hold up was that just one take? I rewind it from the start and am in awe. Nicely done and good switch of pace in this episode. Can't wait till next week.

With the added element that while he's undercover, he's actually a cop at this point in time, so everything he says and does is with the intention of making sure things don't get out of hand. Even high on drugs, his conscience remains. Rust could start killing fools if he wants, but he doesn't. There's a plan and that remains getting Ginger out of that housing project in without any collateral damage.

And the intro!!! I can watch that over and over again. The motion design is amazing. I really hope they pull a whole season off being amazing as these four episodes so far. So season 2 will have all new story and actors?

Wow that was amazing. Great episode up to the last sequence and then that put it off the charts. Were at the halfway point of the show, and I love every second of it. I'm so buying the blu ray of this the second it comes out.

I thought it would be years before I watched a show that compared to Breaking Bad in terms of quality and entertainment, and this show has already surpassed it in 4 episodes. If the quality maintains through the final 4 episodes, it will be an instant classic. Unbelievable episode.

Holy crap. That was amazing. That ending might have been one of the tensest moments I've experienced in television. That single take was brilliant, utterly brilliant. We've already raved about the acting, but just fucking wow. This show is on another level.

That was so fucking marvelous. Everything leading up to that, so fucking good.

Also, man, that was some crazy shit that Charlie was spouting about LaDoux, some kind of cult composed of rich devil worshippers, the Yellow King, and Carcosa. Creepy.

Im in shock that they were able to put that whole sequence together for a television episode. Holy cow did that escalate. Children of Men crossed with The Protector spiral staircase sequence.

Midway through that scene I recalled Rust warning about Mogadishu. I can't believe the filmmakers promised such a scene and then delivered. Freaking tense.

And who saw daddario going psycho coming? I was sideswiped on that one, just like Marty.

I'm not talking about a collateral wound, jesus it's a shot to the foot.

Rust punches two big thugs once to the back and they are suddenly out for the count (absurd), meanwhile Ginger comes running back to the arms of Rust after he just beat the shit out of him? I get that he was in a state of confusion, but it came off incredibly ridiculous, almost like a three stooges stunt, especially for a show that has maintained a sense of groundedness to it. This biker guy is supposed to be a badass and instead he comes off as a willying insufferable baby as soon as his life is in danger.

Shoot him in the foot, put him across your back and carry him, then throw him in the car and patch him up hastily as you drive off/threaten him.

I wasn't suggesting to go the hospital, that's idiotic.
He hit them with his pistol man, it's not like he did some limp karate chop on their back. Butt of the gun to the back of the head

They need to find a way to bring Fukanaga back.

either that or bring a high profile director for each season.

seeing this episode just made me want a mann directed second season if cary's not up for it. and honestly..would he be. this is like a movie-length commitment filming an entire season right?

if not mann i'd be down with fincher.

There were gunshots being fired well after the other two guys in the heist crew died.

Holy fuck, how many innocent people, gangsters, and cops got shot?

weird that someone would think her reaction was psycho and not marty's

or at least.. compared to Marty

he treated her like trash and blamed it on alcohol

My cousin supported Hart on this entire thing, and shat on both Lisa and Maggie. No joke. He didn't even know why he supported him, just that the women should suck it up since Marty cares about his kids.

I stared at him dumbfounded at his sheepish expression.

Woah, i hope i didn't come off as sympathetic to Marty. He deserves that.. I was just surprised that her wife would go as far as kicking him out of the house without being aware of any specific affair - although she was clearly suspicious.

I suppose I assumed that daddario's character would be ashamed of her involvement and wouldn't dare confront or confess to the wife of the man she had been screwing. I'm just not used to seeing or hearing about that happening. Caught me off guard.

I had certainly hoped - and was expecting - that his wife would wise up and get out.. or at least issue a real ultimatum. So this what a legitimate surprise for me. And I only used the word psycho because of Rust's terse assessment.. I dont think I would have labeled it anything specific myself.

Jesus christ those long shots at the end.
Everything starting at the biker bar all the way through the end was tv gold.
McConaughey is a savage.

Chills during the scene when they were held up in the house taking from that safe. So good.

i don't know about it being better than breaking bad.... but it is really making me think that as amazing as breaking bad was (and Mad Men is) imagine both those shows being on HBO? I couldn't imagine what having no restrictions on violence or language could of done for either show.

With that said I think this show is amazing and as halfway points go this episode delivered.

Marty invaded her home life. She returned the favor. Marty's the crazy one.

Yep Rust called her crazy based on the idea she did that to marty out of the blue. We saw what Rust did and know the truth. Thats the best part of this show the fact that they lie and we get to see the truth of what happened.

They're both complicit. Not like she didn't know he was married when they were together and it's not like scaring the shit out her and some date is equivalent to blowing up the wife's life that way(as she alluded to in the hospital).

Fucking hell, that last scene!!!

The best action I've ever seen from a tv show.

One take, and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

I love this show!

Hmmmmm.....I'm calling a
satanist voodoo cult led by the Rev Tuttle and/or the police chief..maybe the preacher ...supplied with meth by Ledoux.

Just rewatched the scene, yeah the punch to the back of the head was weak but I wouldn't have noticed if I weren't looking for it (didn't notice the first time).

Still, 6mins of uncut scene is pretty awesome for a tv show.

Don't know if anyone noticed but in the scene where Hart tracks down Weem's stripper gf at her club, the bartender that Hart is giving shit to is played by show runner Nic Pizzolatto.
