What's the best gaming Mouse + Keyboard combo I can get for ~£100??

Looking to get a good set of gaming keyboard and mouse, what's the best I can get? Looking at around the £50 range each.

Also, if possible, cos I see gaf rave about them, can anyone highlight if the keyboard is a mechanical keyboard?

I'm using a Cooler Master CM Storm Quickfire Stealth Cherry MX Brown Keyboard and a Roccat Savu mouse. Both work really well and were very affordable. The CM Storm mechanical keyboards go on sale all the time, and the Roccat Savu is generally one of the cheapest mice with a flawless optical sensor.

Other things to consider are the Corsair Vengeance mechanical keyboards which have a very nice build quality, and the CM Storm Spawn mouse, which goes for very cheap most of the time. If you do a bit of shopping around, you can get some high quality PC peripherals without decimating your wallet. Find something that looks interesting to you and look up a review or two on youtube. Good luck!

EDIT: Just want to note that when shopping for a mouse, you should steer clear of laser mice as they have built in acceleration. Also, don't be tricked into thinking a mouse with a higher dpi/cpi is better for gaming. A low dpi setting + a large mousing surface = better gaming.

The Logitech G400 is one of the best mice you can get, it's affordable, and has what many consider a "perfect" sensor. No acceleration or prediction. I would recommend not using the software, as you can still switch between DPI levels.

I recommend adding a bit for a decent mouse pad as well. I love my (super-cheap) steelseries QcK.

Coincidentally, the Deathadder is also one of the few "perfect sensor" mice. It largely depends on ergonomics at this point. The Deathadder and G400 have a vastly different design, you'd have to consider which one would be more comfortable for your hand for how you hold the mouse. The Deathadder also has much higher DPI levels, which are largely unnecessary as you should be around 400-800 ideally, although some people prefer slightly higher.

im going to recommend the deathadder myself. also what do you want to use this for. if its fpses i think a good mouse/mousepad and headset are more important than the keyboard.

recommend a deathadder and some steelseries mousepad plus some sennheiser cans (if youre into music they are amazing and you can take the non gaming line otherwise 5h was really good but im sure steelseries have better models now)

EDIT for fpses especially if you play competively a good mousepad is a must.

Aside from the Deathadder, Razer products aren't very good. As for keyboards, something like this would be great:

It's mechanical. You'll have to make the decision of switch type. For gaming I prefer Black, but Brown is a good compromise for other uses as well.

I've used every mouse under the sun and I finally settled on the Gigabyte M6900. Don't let its price fool you. A shape and size that is absolutely perfect for someone with average sized to larger hands and a no frills, no bullshit approach to the buttons, it easily became my favourite to use. It has all the basics you expect of a mouse, including the usual left hand side mouse 4/5 buttons and it has a switch to change between 3 modes of DPI.

As for keyboard, if you're not looking for a mechanical keyboard and also want to take a similar no/minimal frills approach, look at the Microsoft Sidewinder X4.

You can buy both of these together for less than £50.

Sorry, I really don't know much about this, what do you mean switch type?

Looks good though and much cheaper than the 2 I was looking at :)

EDIT: nvm, found the mechanical keyboard thread, now I know what you mean, brown sounds best for my uses. I would like to use it as a general keyboard too.

You should check out the Zowie ec1/ec2 eVo, Zowie FK, and Zowie AM
They're great mice that aren't flashy and most importantly aren't Razer.

Make sure you get the Logitech G400S, not the G400. The G400S is guaranteed to have no angle snapping or acceleration.

As for keyboard...if you do want to get mechanical, I highly recommend Cherry MX Red switches. The tactile feedback from brown is very slight, to the point of making the keyboard feel gritty more than anything. Red provides a nice, linear keystroke which feels much nicer. Black is too heavy for my liking. I currently have MX Browns, but I would easily trade them in for Reds.

True, although only older G400s had the issue, and have likely been completely phased out by now. Also, they stopped making the G400, so the G400S is what you'll likely find anyway.

yup those ones. but like i said if youre investing a lot of money in headphones youre better off buying a good music headphone without a mic and tacking on a cheap mic etc. I had a sennheiser hd 555 which were amazing for gaming and music.

dont try to go too high above 150 range once you hit the 200 250+ you normally need an amp etc to get the quality of the headphones thru.

i personally used to use the hd555 (discontinued now i believe) with an old planatronics headset tacked on my neck with the mic turned up to my mouth when i play cs competitively. The sennheisers 5h were a great gaming only headset back then. Note this was 4 years back so better products might be available now.

And def dont skimp on the mousepad it may seem like a waste of money but a good surface can do wonders. If youre new teh steelseries qck are a good start which arent too expensive. Plastic pads are good but they tend to me more expensive etc. (depends on your sensitivity etc .... again a lot of this is indepth advice so if you can tell me what you primarily want to use all this for ... as in which games which level of competiveness etc it'll help)

with the mouse tho i strongly recommend trying out the shape. i personally like the deathadder and lots of others do and i had a mx518 also didnt go for logitech cause i use the claw grip while playing which is quite unweildy with tthose logitech models.

Razer keyboards are not very well liked around the community. I have been using my own Black Widow for about two years and I'm very happy with it. It's my first mechanical keyboard though, so I've got nothing to compare it to.
The ultimate version has background lighting on the individual keys. The basic version has no lighting.

Yup, i jumped down that particular rabbit hole last year but i planned it... a little.
Find a keyboard you really like and look at the size of the shift, ctrl, alt & win keys and their layout. Also figure out which enter key you like as that effects the layout too. Europe usually uses the ISO layout with the L shaped enter key whereas American keyboards tend to use the ANSI slim shift-like enter key. Look at which keyshape you like the best. Flat top, concave top, smooth or rough?

If you're going to spend the cash, get the layout right or it'll drive you crazy.

I spend a lot of time at a keyboard so i ended up with a Ducky Shine 3 at home and the Quickfire TK at work both with brown switches.
