PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4/PSP) | February 2014

B... but I immediately realized my mistake and corrected it!

Besides Oka is the better waifu anyways :P

My man.

Guys, what's the cheapest way to get 64GB Vita memory card?

I think I'm just going to say fuck it and get one at this point. I should note I'm in Canada.

Try importing from NipponYassan

It's funny you talk about monotonous gameplay while praising Monster Hunter and Toukiden. The Toukiden demo was so repetitive it put me off buying it.

It's not repetitive if you're having fun.

I guess I just prefer skill based action game boss fights to boring dungeon designs mixed with social sim mashing X through shitty dialogue. I understand why people don't like MH and think it's repetitive, but to me even if I fight the same boss it's never the same encounter. I do love jrpgs, just not Tales and Persona.

well, Persona 2 is a-ok in my book but they jumped the shark after that.

I'm quite the opposite. After playing Crisis Core and playing the Type-0 demo to death, I really got to like the action-oriented combat. I can't wait what Toriyama-san will bring in this regard to FFXV.

Funny that I didn't really like the combat in CC & Type-0 but I absolutely adored LR and I'm extremely looking forward to FFXV battle system.

I guess I would of have appreciated it more if it was on a console if that makes any sense at all. While I was playing through Type-0 I couldn't but help what this would of looked like on the PS3.

How many DLC packs were there for Borderlands 2? If the vita version includes 6 how many are missing?
Looking forward to playing this on vita hopefully it runs well and everything

Oh sorry, I meant Tabata just in case! Not Toriyama. But yeah, if LR has anything going for it, it is its combat.

Persona 4g or toudoken?

Both, if possible because they are different in genre and gameplay. If not, Toukiden first since it have strong online component and the community probably will kind died out after the first two months, while Persona 4 Golden will be essentially the same no matter how long you wait.

I played through the Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII To the Store and Gets Her Money Back demo and I still don't understand why people are praising the battle system so much. The whole "multiple character in one" gimmick is somewhat original but it doesn't really do anything genuinely new or engaging. Most battles are just "hold down circle, hit R1 when you run out of meter, rinse and repeat". I can't see myself wanting to play a whole game of this.

How long is the single player in Toukiden?

Sounds similar to FFXIII battle system which was cool at first, then I realized that I was just paradigm canceling between 2-3 setups I had and hitting X. Only people that seem to actually like LR are people that liked FFXIII so I've got no problem skipping it regardless of how much I love FF. XIII series and Lightning need to die in a fire.

also I know it's random but how the hell can SE justify localizing some crap like Drakengard 3 which no one in the US has ever heard of but type-0 is stuck in Japan? I don't get that company :/

Borderland 2 Vita has only 6 DLC included:
- Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty
- Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage
- Psycho Character Class
- Mechromancer Character Class
- Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1
- Collector’s Edition Pack
wtf Sony, a late port should be a complete edition >:(

"only" - I expected to get gipped with vanilla and no DLC ever, for budgeting reasons, because it was a bone they were throwing us... or some lame excuse like space constraints

for me, that list is more good news than bad news

Man , you dont love jrpgs if you dont love persona 4G seriously . Maybe you where talking about ajrpgs but anyways.

So i guess Vita has good port news today huh?

Whats the fetiche of subnative vs native res? I mean FFXHD looks really good even with its subnative resolution. I dont get that extreme choices like: if it isnt native ill not buy .considering 90% of Vita games are not native res. IF GoW can look similar to that (FFXHD)and runs at 60fps im in.Same goes for the Sly Collection.

Borderlands 2 just seems way too ambitious for the Vita hardware. But MAN it would be amazing if it was a solid port. I want it so bad.

I'd say about 75%+ of Vita games are native res.

Open world games existed on the PS2, and I think the Vita is more powerful than a PS2 (but obviously not as powerful as a PS3). I think with some smart programming, Borderlands 2 can be translated to the Vita really well. Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation is also a well done game, technically, but it does suffer from some slowdown. It was also a first generation Vita game. BL2 is a 2nd generation Vita game.

I think the Vita hardware is very, very capable. It's just a shame we don't have more developers pushing the system.

I'd have loved to have some of those LEGO games properly ported to the Vita, instead of the 3DS ports.

Agree with that , regarding borderlands 2, but why to chose this game above all the PC FPS? i mean, it doesnt sound like a Vita game for me. Lets hope it feels like one.

You know, for all the hubbabub about native res vs non-native res, I for the love of me can't really note a difference between the two; I mean, I can't see a game on my Vita and immediately know, "Hey, this is native res!" or "Hey, this is non-native res!", unless I actually see people comment on it and even after I know, I *still* can't tell the difference.

Well, I guess my incompetence is a blessing somewhat. This way I am not overly focused about the whole res-native res thing and can just enjoy whatever it is that interest me without such concerns nagging at the back of my head, hahaha.

more jaggies or less jaggies thats the difference, but it is a world of difference for some people ...not for me.

I notice the difference, I just don't care.

For example: Assassin's Creed Lib, and Ys: Memories of Celceta are not native res, but look at PlayStation All Stars, or Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, and they are both native res. The difference really stands out if you are playing a non-native res game, and then go to a native one, or vice versa.

Tearaway is native res too, I believe. The image, to me, just looks sharper and crisper. If you can couple that with a good framerate (I think PS All Stars is 60fps on Vita), the difference is even more noticeable. But for me, personally, I just don't care about native or non-native. To be honest, most of the games I've played look much, much better on the Vita screen than they do in screenshot threads, even the non-native res ones.

Yeah, open world games existed on the PS2, but imagine if a late-generation PS3 open-world game was ported to PS2. It would have been a nightmare. That's why, despite the fact that Vita can handle open-world games, it's THIS open-world (well, not technically open-world, but close) game that I'm worried about. It's a MASSIVE game, content-wise, with fantastic visuals built on an engine that hasn't PROPERLY been ported to the Vita (Unreal Engine 3), along with 6 pieces of DLC content. I mean, my goodness, this game with this DLC CANNOT fit on a 4GB game cart in it's current form. I'm really worried about it. I have a feeling it will be sub-native resolution WITH massively downgraded texture quality, really compressed sound that will make me cry, and 15-20fps average framerate. Essentially like AC3:Liberation, actually.

My goodness, I want to be wrong SO bad, and maybe I will be. If so, I'll buy it the second it's available. I can handle sub-native res, and am almost 100% confident that it will be, but the framerate and compressed audio like AC3:L, I just can't do all that together.

For sure. If you can't tell the difference, then more power to you. A part of me wishes I couldn't tell either.

Sanzaru are doing both the God of War Collection, and Sly Cooper Collection.

WAIT. Sly Cooper Collection is confirmed for Vita?!?! WOOOHOOO!!

That actually gives me hope. Sly: TiT on Vita had some performance issues, but it was their first Vita game. I'm sure they've learned a lot from that experience, and will apply it to the new ones. I'm really, really looking forward to Sly 1-3 on the Vita. I've never beat 3. I'm also excited for GoW Vita. I love a good action game, and GoW 1 and 2 are two of the best. I'd love a Vita Ghost of Sparta, though. That's probably my favorite God of War out of the entire series (my rankings: GoW: Ghost, GoW 3 = GoW 2, GoW 1, GoW: Chains).

When you put it like that... eh... especially since it's using UE3. It's gonna look bad, maybe that will at least get them to improve the UE3 vita engine?

Pardon my ignorance, guys. Just today I got a PS4 and a year of PS+ (Friend me @ Splitdog79 if you'd like!). I'm very excited about the free games they give, and was totally stoked to get Outlast and can't wait to give it a go (I also bought BF so I'm playing through that right now, which is really good so far!). Resogun is very neat, too.

When will we learn what next month's game for PS4 is? Is it even a certainty given how few games there are so far? I appreciate you guys giving me a head's up on this.

Are you NA or EU?

If NA then you'll learn it on the first days of March if you're EU you'd learn it on the 3rd or 4th week of Feb.

So, I don't know if I'm crazy but FF9 looks god awful on my Vita. No matter what the aspect ratio is...no matter if I have bilinear filtering on, it looks like garbage. Here is a picture I took to see if I'm crazy or not for thinking it looks like garbage. For instance...Garnet's face. Was it always this bad and I just forgot?

Ah, thanks. Sorry, I should have been clearer. I'm in NA. I'm at a loss as to what they could possibly offer. I'm surprised about Outlast, that game's a pretty big deal!

I feel sorry for people that don't like Monster Hunter. The Wii U game is my favorite. Never got into it before that, seemed repetitive and slow.

The game kept getting better in better the first 150 hours. Learning to solo the high tier bosses takes tremendous skill and is so rewarding.

My photo isn't that great, but it doesn't look like your screen when I play:

playing through the single player of BF4? save your game to a USB after every chapter or two. DICE still hasn't fixed the corruption bug

Kaysee is either a psychic, or this was a deflection, haha.

Borderlands 2 shipped 8.5 million copies on consoles/PC, and Randy Pitchford (Gearbox's CEO) was crying to have it on Vita.
