PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4/PSP) | February 2014

Nope, I didn't have a psx when I was a kid, my parents bought me a SNES and a Genesis so I have a lot to catching up to do.
What's it about?

It's two stories that intertwine. If you pick Mint in the beginning, you play as a spoiled princess who seeks a wish-granting relic to usurp her older sister and take over the world. Pick Rue, you'll play as a mysterious boy who wants to use the relic to bring back his dead friend Claire.

The characters play fairly different. As Mint, you'll use two large rings for (weak) physical attacks and more powerful magic projectiles. As Rue, you'll use an axe and his ability to shapeshift into monsters you've defeated. As both characters, you'll have to use your unique skills to solve puzzles and traverse 3D environments.

It's a really great action-RPG, and possibly my favorite game on the PSX. I played it again recently on the Vita, and I really feel like it's held up. The combat may be fairly simple, but the dialogue, characters, music, and art make it worth playing today.

Playing through the first world of Rayman Legends and I hate the touch based levels so much more than I was expecting... then I played the Clock Tower level which was sublime.

This is going to be one of those games that I want to hate, but it does just enough to keep me in there.

GUYS! Gameplay from God of War Collection for Vita , Seems Playable!

Just looks the collection on PS3 running remote play, was hoping for a bit more but I guess that was just me being hopeful.

Yeah I wish they didn't bother with the touch and just made it a pure platformer as when it does that it's nigh on perfect. The touch and tilt crap just gets in the way.

Are you sure about that ? GoW 2 seems to have serious Framedrop issues so i can guess is the Vita game. And also the title says "Two gameplay videos showing God Of War Collection in action have emerged."
Not to mention that it was posted on this twitter https://twitter.com/PSVitaIntel/status/433158530619944960

Oh I wasn't saying that they actually ARE a remote play video, I'm just saying it looks like what it did when I played it via remote play and that I was stupidly hoping for a bit more.

Sony - until you lower the prices of memory cards I won't buy another Vita game.

I'm not deleting stuff I haven't finished just to get new titles. Sorry Surge Deluxe, sorry TxK.

I bet you can squeeze TxK on there - isn't it tiny?

I'm taking a stand friend! I have an 8gb card with Persona, Tearaway and some other bits on going up to about 7gb - I want Luftrausers, TxK, Surge Deluxe, Velocity 2X when it comes but juggling memory cards and file sizes is utter horseshit.

Edit

Also - if Sony said HALF of Vita game sales are digital, WHY ARE THE FUCKING CARDS SO EXPENSIVE?!

The touch levels are awful, and there are way too many of them. It's why I prefer Origins

Surely if cards were cheaper they would sell MORE games digitally?

Well: sell at expensive = people still buy is clearly a much better proposition than sell at cheaper = people will buy.

Basically, it's because we all such fools that keep buying stuff even at high price that Sony will keep on doing what its doing with its MC pricing, hahahaha.

I might play that, looks good and it never ceases to amaze me how beautiful PSX games look on the Vita.

It's $5.99. Great price for an overlooked gem of the PSX era. If you do get it, I'd recommend playing as Rue first. Mint is a great character and has an entertaining journey, but some of the major plot points have way more impact if you're playing as Rue. I also feel like the shapeshifting mechanic makes him more interesting to play as, whereas Mint's magic makes things a bit easier. With Rue, you pick up tokens from fallen enemies that add them into your shapeshifting roster. You can only care a few, though. Pick up a new token and you'll lose an earlier one. Different monsters have different advantages; some are good for platforming, others combat, and there are puzzles that will require certain types (flying, fire-breathing, etc.).

Yup. Making it literally the first thing you do in the game was an ill omen indeed. :'(

I couldn't see me recommending this over Origins, even if it includes some of the Origins content.

Just back them up to a PC so that you don't need to redownload and then grab smaller, pick up and play games as well as your 1/2 bigger games you are working towards finishing?

I understand where he's coming from - the price of memory cards shouldn't be so prohibitive that you may not be able to buy more games. I also understand why Sony keeps the price high - because the attach rate is high it's a good stream if income. :(

I have a 32GB, but I keep it nice and clean (and so many of my Vita games are smaller indie titles anyway).

I have a spare 32 and 16 sitting in a holder that are empty doing nothing, because I've enough games that I want to play on the 32 I'm using currently. I should bother to do something with them, even if I just put PS1 classics on them.

give the 16 to moobabe so he can play TxK.

I'm kind of ok with my 32GB, but I'm in Japan at easter so I'm tempted to buy a 64GB just because. But then I'd have a 32GB I wouldn't use, and I think the vita still doesn't properly remember bubble/folder/wallpaper setup if you swap cards right? So that'd stop me wanting to even hotswap.

This is an idea I can get behind.

When did Sony start allowing you to change the security question associated with your PSN account? I just changed the old one I totally forgot.

Had to find some white grips for my vita, just got these in the mail today. Not bad!

Hrm, I got white Vita + iam playing FFVII too, almost at same place than you (actually used save point there yesterday before going to sleep).

Ive got black grips.

Where did you order yours white grips (for the colour :P)?

SMT, Persona or a shitty persona ripoff can only dream to achieve FF sales

Sadly, since SMT as a whole is, right now, a much better franchise than FF (sorry, I know you like XIII)

I don't mind paying for the Tiny Tina DLC, as long as I can import my PS3 save.

Well, there are more DLCs included that I imagined. Hope they port those 2 packs the port is lacking as cheap (or free) DLCs.

I'm quite the opposite. After playing Crisis Core and playing the Type-0 demo to death, I really got to like the action-oriented combat. I can't wait what Toriyama-san will bring in this regard to FFXV.

Crisis Core was pretty good. I don't know about Type-0. If FFXV is a faster paced Kingdom Hearts I'm totally in. Hope it delivers, but if it isn't as good as I hope... I'm probably done with the franchise. I survived a generation without them, I'll be ok.

^ no :P

Make it 30fps locked even under heavy fire (multiple enemies), and it's an insta-buy. As long as it's not too fugly.

Yes. fps is the most important thing in FPSes. Hope it's a solid 30.

Of course, Even though the brand has tarnished in recent years, FF is still a strong name.

Looks more like FF can only dream to achieve FF sales
