do you like Serious Sam? Its kind of like that but with giant insects and robots.

Or like an FPS version of Smash TV.
 
I got the mindless part from EDF, but not the fun. I'd strongly urge anyone that's interested but hasn't played it to try and find a means of demoing it first.

One of a very small list of Vita games I regret purchasing.

IMO play it in the order it came out. MGS3 will mean more. And ya I'd DL MGS1 and play that first.

You should play in the order of release. It's much enjoyable that way but if you want to understand the story more easily definitely MGS:3>MGS:PW>MGS:GZ>MGS:PP>MG1>MG2>MGS:1
>MGS:2>MGS:4>MGR:R

So it's MGS:3>MGS:1>MGS:2 for you.

Ummmm, how would disc based versions of ps3 games work on your ps4?


Anyhow: I am looking for a good zelda styled action adventure game to download. I am snowed in for the next two days and need something awesome to pass the time. Thinking about possibly Okami, but does anyone else have a suggestion?

I played Snake Eater first, read about the events of 1, and jumped into 2, which I think would be the best way to go about it. MGS1 would be great if you played it when it was released but, like most PS1 games, I don't think it's aged well, so if you don't have that nostalgia for it, it would probably just not play well for you. At least, that was my experience. Maybe Twin Snakes will get re-released at some point.

Developers don't make games for "PSN." They make games that run on specific hardware that can be purchased and downloaded through PSN (or SEN, as I guess it is now). The downloadable games from the PS3 era run on PS3 hardware, and since the PS4 isn't backwards compatible, you can't play them on your PS4.
 
Basically everything will be released tomorrow in EU :\ well this makes the wait for the retail version of Daganronpa easier.

There are some permanent price drops(Ni No Kuni at 19.99€, Xillia etc) and sales(XCom games).

Except the PS3, and PS4 have entirely different architectures. The only way a ps3 game will work on ps4 is if it's recoded to work for the ps4. Being digital, or retail has nothing to do with that.
 
EU notes

As previously noted, the PS4 Headset app is released. Only other thing of note for PS4 folk is The Lego Movie Videogame (£44.99/€59.99) is releasing in Friday on some territories.

PS3 news, and the headliner is that someone in Tecmo Koei realised they were sitting on a pile of money: Persona 3 FES (£7.99/€9.99) is finally available in the EU PSN.

Full game releases: Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy Whatever (£39.99/€59.99) from Friday, Far Cry 1 (£7.99/€9.99) and Lego Movie Videogame (£39.99/€49.99) from Friday in some territories. Demos this week are Far Cry 1, Castlevania LoS 2 and Oddworld Strangers Wrath

On the DLC front: Last of Us gets Left Behind (£11.99/€14.99), Borderlands 2 has a Wedding Day Massacre (£1.99/€2.49), while Rocksmith 2 has a bunch of Kiss songs (£2.39/€2.99 each, £6.49/€7.99 for the pack) and the usual batch of LittleBigPlanet and Disgaea D2 gubbins.

Vita side: as far as Sony is concerned, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc (£34.99/€39.99) is coming out on PSN this Friday. If that doesn't happen, headliner is TxK (£5.49/€6.99), which is Lazers: The Game.

Full games also coming out: Lego Movie Videogame (£5.49/€6.99) from Friday in some territories, and Toukiden (£29.99/€39.99)

Vita DLC: aforementioned LittleBigPlanet stuff.

Mobile: Creatures and & Castles VX (£3.19/€3.99), MathTest (£0.99/€1.29)

Sales: The Bureau £24.99/€29.99, XCOM: Enemy Unknown £9.59/€12.79 until 26th, Do Not Fall £3.19/€3.99, Doodle Devil £2.01/€2.51 until 19th. With the exception of XCOM Enemy Unknown, all of these also has a 10% extra discount for PS+ folk.

Price Drops: Ni No Kuni (£15.99/€19.99), Tales of Graces f (regular edition £19.99/€29.99, special edition £34.99/€44.99) and Tales of Xillia (regular edition £29.99/€39.99, special edition £39.99/€49.99).

You seem to lack a basic understanding of how software works. PS3 code simply doesn't run on the PS4 at this point. The format of the code doesn't matter. PSN titles are simply PS3 titles without the plastic disc.

Atlus USA are shown as the publisher of the game on the web page - it's also the US version of the game so it needs a 60 Hz compatible display.

You only have yourself to blame. Usually people, especially people who browse a video gaming forum, do some kind of research before the throw down $400+tax on an electronic. I'm not trying to be rude but I did find it pretty funny.

For somebody not trying to be rude, you're managing quite well. Do you see me ranting or raving about how I'm going to take the PS4 back to the store? No? Then perhaps I asked a simple question and got several fairly rude responses in return. I apologize for not being as up to date on every bit of gaming minutiae as yourself.

I did research into what I really cared about, namely the big games coming in 2014. I sort of assumed PSN operated somewhat like Steam, but it wasn't that big of a deal to me. I assumed incorrectly, but I didn't know that being unaware of a feature is some sort of sin that deserves mocking.

Well, those PSN games who look fairly simple (compared to retail games) were made to work with PS3 cell processor still. Therefore, they need to be ported first before they can be played on PS4. This is the reason why we don't have too many indie releases anymore on PS3, as they instead opted it for PsVita and PS4.

With any luck, PSN should start operating more like steam from this box out seeing as how it's 64bit, but we'll see :P Consoles often have varying architecture (at least on Sony boxes) and it makes Backwards Compatibility a bitch. There are some cross-buy cross-play games on the store that were deigned that way from the ground up, so it's not so bad.

Consolation prize, the connectors on the PS4 are the same as the ones for the PS3, so swapping them back and forth depending on what you want to play is pretty seamless. (if you don't have them both hooked up already)

Appreciate it. I'm downloading Outlast and I have Killzone to fire up after that, so I have plenty to keep me busy until the 21st. Thought I"d get a quick bit of DoA in while Outlast downloaded, but alas.

That's good to know. I have to charge up my Vita and get that connected to this thing. I never expected say, disc backwards compatibility, but I would like to go back and play some of the PS3 digital games I bought. Will be nice when the day comes when I don't have to switch the cords back and forth...heh.

PSN actually operates in a way that's better than Steam, as you know PS3 games will always work on PS3, and PS4 games will always work on PS4, same as the day your purchased them. Your Steam purchases have not only Steam DRM but additional DRM checks as well that may be taken down at any point, leaving you without access to your games. You're relying not only on Valve, but uPlay, Origin, Games For Windows, etc.
