Titanfall Gameplay Footage (Embargo Lifted)

I heard there's a 60 fps cap.

what-the-fuck.gif

for a source engine game? whos doing is this? someone confirm/deny please.

Sorry for repeating an already asked question, but I couldn't find an answer:

Do we have footage of campaign missions? Is the campaign part of the beta?

Watching some of the footage and woooooow, so many noob-level players. I really hope there's a fresh pool of nobs, because the alpha was pretty overshadowed with typical try had diehards. It's like Christmas after CoD, ripe for the picking.

i see one of those tweets saying he heard its just a beta thing. i sure as hell hope so. after watching footage today my hype was up there. if that 60 fps cap is true....my god.

I know Antitrop thinks I'm a hater (and I am) but I particularly liked that first PC footage of the beta so I signed up in the hopes that I'll be proven wrong.

I appreciate the video footage but where is the thread with impressions from the media? There is this thread of footage and two threads based on resolution. You would think there would be a thread dedicated to impressions...

It's filled with stupid bots and that won't change.

I hope so. I plan on buying the Asus 1440P 120HZ Gsync monitor when they are available and want to go to 120FPS. Frame Rate caps are the worst, pc isn't a console. If we want to play the game on low and 300FPS we should be able to do so.

I will attack this as a gamer first if I may.

Watching the E3 trailer we saw some things. Double jumping, soldiers jumping onto titans and destroying them, soldiers getting ripped out of Titans by another, catching bullets, and shooting.

Since then, each new trailer showed some things. Double jumping, soldiers getting ripped out of their Titan, rising on a Titan to destroy it as a soldier, catching bullets.

Watching the love stream I am seeing some things. Catching bullets, Riding titans, ripping soldiers out of titans, and shooting things.

So .... To say the least the redundancy is showing itself already. The Titan vs Titan battles are underwhelming really. They both shoot at each other, occasionally catch each other's bullets and throw them back. And sometimes one gets close to another and punches or tries to rip the guy out. Seeing a soldier on foot is underehelming. As a soldier info not get the feeling as if you have much purpose beyond being mobile enough to jump into a Titan to try and take it down.

So yeah, gameplay wise it looks chaotic and fast paced, but it is worrisome that the sheer redundancy of the whole battle is already showing through. Atleast in COD or Team Fortress or whatever you had various roles. You could be an engineer and repair things or create turrets or robots or whatever. You could be a medic or a stealthy assassin. So far I see none of that here.

Speaking purely as a gamer, consider me disappointed. Hopefully the final product has more depth then this.

I'll probably give this a try, but I'll have to wait until I can buy my new laptop.

(A bit OFF. You think this game will run fine on an 860m, which is around a 770m?)

Yep, this has been my basic feeling from the start. Now the thing is, everyone says you have to play it. Well, that is wonderful, but they need to sell me and they aren't. This game would benefit so much from an open beta/demo close to launch.

If you stay on the ground skilled player who use the traversal mechanics correctly will dominate you.

Nowhere did I say that the CoD players will stay on the ground.

It has similarities, but the mechanics, strategies, and flow of combat is completely different.

I really fail to see how the strategies and flow of combat are that different. Kill X number of opposing soldiers or keep X amount of points controlled for Y amount of time. I hope the campaign portion add some much needed depth.

The mechanics may be slightly different but really it is, again, just adding verticality and mechs to a tried and true mechanic.

We'll see where the community takes the meta game. It's too early to judge, however this has been the thing I have been feeling as well.

To be honest I think they should have tried to do more with the traversal stuff then the titan stuff. Especially in maps. Angel city looks ripe for the traversal but the other one just looks like a more openish standard MP map, most likely for the Titan's to combat in.

Gong forward it's going to be interesting what mechanic they put more time into maturing in future TF games, maps and modes. The mechs or the trasversal. It's tricky to do both.

I've never played a COD game multiplayer in my life but I was under the impression that your role in the fight was based somewhat on the loadout you chose, and those are limited in the beta. There's also two classes of titans that aren't in the beta, granted all I know about those are that they're 'very big robot' and 'less big robot'.

I haven't played CoD since...the first Black Ops I believe, of which back then at least I'm not seeing the variety or roles that would set it 'above' Titan Fall that IAmRandom31 is referring to. There may not the hundreds of weapon choices (exaggeration) in COD with the Killstreaks which I suppose factor in as strategy choice, but all in all the roles are all there from what there was back in Black Ops.

Thing is, where was this complaint with Halo? Counterstrike? Gears of War? Uncharted? Both can be easily reduced to just...well...finding different ways to kill people with a limited setup while working towards an objective, if the game includes objectives.

Those are computer controlled bots..... Yea bots in multiplayer, what a genius idea.....

I'm not too invested in this title, nor am I against it in any particular way, but I'm looking forward to reading some more impressions from people--rather than the people who fall under the "friends and family" category--when they get their hands on it.

Their attempt to make every shitty player feel like a badass I guess. I know plenty of friends who will find that neat as they talk about owning them while other friends will say it's stupid. I just find it odd.

I mentioned this in the other thread and if they could make the game focus on this, I'd be very happy:

Hype truly is contagious. I'm anxious to try it since I used to like COD and would love another good shooter but I'm skeptical at the same time due to the guns feeling similar and some other things. I really want to try it and see if it lives up to the hype but all this talk is somehow getting me excited anyway.

Cautiously optimistic I guess. I just wish it was a game that focused on teamwork. So tired of these games breeding new FPS players as KDR whores and nothing else. When will a game go balls to the wall and introduce a MASSIVE XP reward for doing the objective? Developers always talk a big game about teamwork but never deliver which is why I miss the days of SOCOM and pray that H-Hour will be good. If Titanfall had some good team-based modes with an absolute shitload of XP rewards for completing the objectives in those modes, I think it could help turn around the modern gamer's mentality in games. Instead of a competition between teams, people seem to play them like Golf where they just try to get to the top and in most games, kills are the best way to do that. By putting so much XP into objectives which will help unlock new gear (instead of relying solely on kills for certain unlocks), then we might see more competitive games instead of most games today where one team is just dominating the other 90% of the time.

Seems like most gamers want to play TDM anyway though.

They're not there to provide a challenge, they're there as a resource to farm to get your titan quicker. Making them mobile with rudimentary intelligence could be seen as a bit of an upgrade over most implementations. ;)

I honestly don't know what to make of it. The elites are going to farm the shit out of them. I hope there are regular modes without the bots like regular TDM.

Maybe...just maybe.....the campaign matches are ALL real players and are more than 6 vs. 6. This would add an air of importance to getting the job done. Or maybe 6 (one team) vs. an objective.

Is the cap at 14 for beta?

12. And of course....that is for the actual game.
