Titanfall Gameplay Footage (Embargo Lifted)

Their attempt to make every shitty player feel like a badass I guess. I know plenty of friends who will find that neat as they talk about owning them while other friends will say it's stupid. I just find it odd.

I mentioned this in the other thread and if they could make the game focus on this, I'd be very happy:

Reading your quoted text, all I have to say is yes please. I really enjoyed CTF/Domination/Headquarters back when I played CoD. The problem is people just used these game types to play a round of TDM. To make matters worse it encouraged a certain type of toxic player who had no intention of playing Domination/etc. They merely joined these game types because it narrowed a spawn point for them to play TDM within.

The bots are a bad idea, players will figure out how to exploit them to get a mech faster. Give it time.

Maybe...just maybe.....the campaign matches are ALL real players and are more than 6 vs. 6. This would add an air of importance to getting the job done. Or maybe 6 (one team) vs. an objective.

12. And of course....that is for the actual game.

My bad, Level 14, not pvp.

After watching footage and reading impressions pretty much all day, I'm incredibly hyped. Unfortunately, I'm going out of town for the entire duration of the beta. :(

Can you expand on that? As I put somewhere else, there really wasn't...roles up to Black Ops 1, so have there been some changes to expand into some form of roles now or did I miss something from my time with the COD games Black Ops and earlier?

Not sure what you what, CoD didn't have roles like BF.

You're loadout in CoD really didn't mean anything. Pick the weapons that you are pro efficient with and/or benefit you the most on the map. Not that it mattered much, saw plenty of people adapt to the point that they could use a SMG at long range and others use an AR at short-range. CoD never had the best gun mechanics in that regard.

I think so too. I can picture people just sitting in a decent spot watching the bots spawn in and just mowing them down until they get the mechs and THEN they decide to go after real players or any objective if there is one.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that wants more teamwork and games that encourage winning over KDR. Objectives used to be a key part of MP gaming but now they're just a backdrop for a TDM. Make a TDM mode for the typical COD players but put some work into the objective-based modes and reward people for doing them and you might actually get somewhere.

H-Hour seems to be my only hope right now for that. Titanfall will be fun, but it definitely won't be due to teamwork, a good community, and great objective modes that encourage good players to do what's asked of them.

So...then how does that differ really from TitanFall? I'm just trying to understand how COD can have these vague form of roles that are probably akin to what was also in Gears of War and Counterstrike, but Titanfall does not. I think the smart players can easily set up strategy between the Titans and different loadouts depending on if the level design allows for it, and there does seem to be a variance in roles.

I also don't understand how this is redundant when much could be said the same for COD, Halo, and many other FPS of a similar nature if reduced in that manner.

I think not tracking k/d in objective modes is the only way. I would love that.

I think the Assault mech should have the ability to throw other Titans. That would be awesome. Have the light mech be able to burst run or high jump, stuff like that.

Do these different titans have their own unique abilities or is it just plain speed / armor that is different.

Every time Jackfrags kills a bot I die a little inside. The AI is fucking stupid. Every titan engagement is SHOOTSHOOTSHOOTreloadSHOOTSHOOTOHNOMUSTEJECT but it's okay, kill a few bots more and your titan will be ready in 15 seconds!

Oh, and I hate how the screen becomes garbled when your titan is getting damaged. You have a huge health bar at the top, a voiceover telling you everything that's happening and big arrows on the screen pointing towards the enemy, I think that's enough cues that I'm being shot at without the constant blurring. This shit was irritating enough in BF4 with the EMP bug.

I started warming up to the game lately but tbh the stuff shown here will get old fast. I'm sure it'll be wicked fun in the beginning but I don't see myself playing this for a long time.

Hopefully I get a beta code to try it myself, if not, I'll definitely wait a few months for the hype to die down and see how the game evolves (if it ever does).

I'm sorry, what is your point? Are you basically trying to say why am I and others criticizing TF for what appears to be a rather common occurrence in FPS games?

I was hoping for more I suppose, my bad. This is supposed to be the new awesome IP, right?

Visuals look very dated

I feel that the graphics actually help with the look of the environment of the game. Whenever I think of realistic, gritty mech games or a film that takes on this same futuristic stance (i.e. District 9), this grunge look fits it well. The graphics could be tighten up a tad but even as it stands, it looks great (imo, of course) and is what I was expecting and hoping it to be.

From watching the videos :
No environment destruction? I thought the titan could level the whole place but didn't see anything getting destroyed. This is very underwhelming.

No collateral damage. The guy jumps out of a titan, the titan explodes not a meter away and there's no indication of sustained damage. Maybe it's something I didn't notice, but these things really bring the game to arcade unrealistic CoD wannabe rather than Battlefield. Hell, Battlefield has much nicer graphics as well on all platforms.

Will not get hyped for CoD with mechs.

Just take Titafall for what it is. New IP from a New Developer who are trying to make a dent in the BF and CoD monopoly. (I would say Halo as well but that has been Haloing for years.)

Sure its not the most amazing looking game due to using a modified Source Engine. Maybe that makes it easier to jump onto the next Source engine with relative ease.

You don't have to be hyped for it. Game looks like some mindless fun to take away from the mindless fun of other games. Wait till it goes bargain bin to try it out, or just wait till Titanfall 2 gets announced.

Well, if it ain't BF, might as well avoid it.

I'm definitely getting the PC version.

Not going to play around with upscalers or watered-down eye candy.

I want native 1080p at 60fps at ultra settings and I shall have it!
I'm not even sure that PC version will be much different. Resolution and fps yes. But still stand grass and trees. Low poly. etc.

Am I missing something? Is this a parody of something?

All of the things I like about the game, the bigger maps, the fluid movement, its all marred by the shoehorning in of stupid bullshit like the AI characters and the mechs.

That would have a massive impact on game/map design. I could already tell by watching Max that at some points there would be scenarios like his titan blowing up, so he ejected out and would land on a large wall, then take some shots at another titan before backing off behind it when he gets spotted, since the Titan had no way to chase him. The Pilots have manuevability over Titans, having a static map is the key for them to fight.

That said, I do wonder what the other titan models will do. Specifically the Styder as it's a lighter faster model, I'm curious if it has a hop or if it just gets more boosts or something.

Well the videos I've seen don't show having a Titan as a massive advantage , JackFrags said he preferred running about killing Titans rather than piloting them.

People need to stop thinking of the Titan as the AC130 perk ( an example ). It's not start round > get Titan > Pwn.

Whats funny is I think this would be better without the Titans and AI.

Right, and isn't that kind of a bad thing? I mean think about that.

yeah it is but most of the guys are pretty bad I wouldn't mind if it was Summit1G streaming this game he seems like an ideal guy to play this type of game

His commentary is HORRIFIC

I hate hearing the lady also screaming in the background. It is just really, really bad. It would be better if he played silently and didn't feel like commenting on being able to "go under an overpass.'

What do you mean?

Are you talking textures or the 79Xp stuff?

Watching fwiz playing hardpoint that looks like it might hold my attention for awhile whereas I'd be "done" with attrition within a few days.

People having different play styles ?

Can you explain why you think it's a bad thing ? If getting your Titan was the ultimate goal for everyone then it's possible the top players would utterly dominate , but , with Titans not being solo own age machines and other play styles being viable , it's win-win.

There are guys in my clan who only play support or only play Engi in BF4. There is a guy who only drives a tank ( which he is great at) and hates playing as infantry because he sucks at it.
