Titanfall Gameplay Footage (Embargo Lifted)

Looking at the A.I, yes they do look fairly dumb but what do people want? Do they really want A.I murdering you every time you pop your head out? That would not really separate them from the human Pilots who are allowed to call in Titans etc.

Sure they could have a bump up in intelligence but at the end of the day, they are there to help you do awesome things in a Titan. Maybe their variety will increase, so you start to get more troublesome A.I but unlike a SP game, your main challenge here should be human players, not the A.I.

Are you talking textures or the 79Xp stuff?

I was referring to some of the comments people were making about both aspects (either the textures aren't the best/ not next gen enough or that the fidelity isn't native 1080p). I know that the devs are working on upping the resolution of the overall game now so that's not an issue to me.

I guess what I was trying to express is that this is not the type of game that I feel needs the same level of graphical polish as a game like Witcher 3 has in it's game. Would it be nice? Sure but even without it, I am still able to appreciate the art direction and look of TF and enjoy it.

There are levels between braindead and hackbot. Something that actually shoots back when you're standing in front of them, would be a good start.

well the thing is...it looks flipping terrible, lol. I wouldn't mind them killing me or supporting me in some sort of way..like someone else said their like dota minions lol

It's still a X-generation game too. I think the first time I was wowed with a 360 graphics was Gears of War. If Titanfall is successful, expect to get something real good from Titanfall 2

ut99 had great AI that was fun to fight in ... 1999

They do shoot back but I do agree that their damage should be upped a little. Saying that, they do seem to get pesky when you're in a Titan, since they use rocket launchers.

Yeah, some more A.I than just standing around. I am sure they are supposed to head to objectives etc but the poor things never really get there. :D

That was just to replicate how a human players...or how some crazy super-human players. Titanfall A.I is not there to replicate human players. Thought they should be smarter and more dangerous,. I don't want them busting out Titans and doing all the cool stuff that should be reserved to real pilots.

So watching the stream and a previous video. Burncards are basically deathstreaks but...better? I mean you can use it when you die once vs dying 3/5/7x right? The video that I saw said they weren't really OP then he went on and mentioned things that are rather OP. A weapon that makes it easier to bring down a titan and some sort of air strike (hard to make out what he is saying).

The only benefit is the fact that they are gone once you use them. I suppose this hinges on how quickly you obtain these cards.

At maximum, you have three cards per match. You can activate a card before spawning. A card can be pretty easily wasted wihout any effect.

At first I didnt liked the idea, but the effect isnt thaaaat big I think.

Come on guys, thread is lacking gifs and this is the only decent one i could make lol

Why are you defending the bad AI

ot: looking at some videos the ai grunts seem really pointless, just something for people to farm their killstreak on or what

Not really defending, just giving some other ideas other that "They are dumb, take them out!." They can surely tweak and adapt the A.I to be more of a challenge but the majority of people are discarding their addition without actually thinking about their purpose or potential.

You mind elaborating on the purpose and/or potential?

Ok. Basic purpose is to help players get their Titan faster. This applies to good and bad players.

They are also there to direct players to where conflict is. A.I heads to objectives, which is what players should do in objective based games. Way too many FPS games have objectives which mostly get ignored by players.

They are also there to keep the flow of combat going. It emulates the franticness of way more players by having 12 humans, 12 Auto Titans and then having A.I runts running around. Its feels more like an actual battle, as apposed to some arena with 8 dudes just gunning each-other.

According to Respawn, the A.I will be there as part of the narrative, as well as being useful to your team/enemy team since you can hack certain A.I to fight for you, thereby creating more difficult waves to force at your enemy, giving you time to get on with the job.

They are also there to make the humans feel good, since they are lowly grunts and you are the Captain that has all the intel and cool stuff. If A.I could do all the cool stuff, humans would be redundant. Think of it as an army where the cannon-fodder is just dumb grunts getting murdered until the leader comes to save the day and attempt to change the tide of battle.

Fair enough, and honestly all that sounds pretty cool. It all sounds like a solid way to improve gameplay or add to the experience. My only issue is killing them should not help you get a Titan, it is just something that is going to be abused. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. People will figure out the spawn locations and farm them.

We already see people throwing grenades over the map to catch spawns. I am not sure if that is intended, or if the A.I will randomly spawn. In reality, its not different from the average CoD/Halo/BF match where people wang all their grenades at player spawns to help them get an early lead. :D I always get hit by one of them while I pick weapons or mute someone.

I am sure they will be tweaking the amount of time players get for killing A.I but you would have to kill a load of A.I to get your Titan quicker, as apposed to a couple of human players. Also taking down Titans etc gives more time off the Titan load.

No server browser? Wtf is this shit?

No private servers, what do you need a server browser for? Form a squad, invite your friends, it'll will pick a server for your squad based upon available resources.

I like server browsers too, I just don't see any point in one for a game as locked down as this one.

How much deduction do they get for ai kill?
1ai kill = 1 sec off if it isn't

But does it really matter? Everybody gets a titan no mater what, all the time. So what if someone got one fast, work together as team and focus it down, that's just me.

How would this be any different without AI ?

So sad that so many are trying so hard to focus every thread about Titanfall on what they don't like about it, the only reason I can see for this is that the press have built it up so much that it has some kind of celebrity syndrome going on.

I totally understand the compulsion to want to knock it down a few pegs but cmon:

is fucking cool as hell

Seems like grinding to me either way. Cod4 introduced exp/leveling, now it's grinding. Titans look like giant players in terms of gameplay. A.Is look dumb. Going by Cod4 campaign and up, the developers doesn't have a good track record for A.Is. Power of the cloud for braindead A.Is.

It's on one side of the fence in the console war and it is getting attention because most people who have actually played it write and say positive things about it. Add the fact that it bases some of its foundation upon a hated and still wildly popular series of shooters and, of course, it is going to get all sorts of pushback from those not very open to its existence as it is. Can't wait for the console war to die down when there are better things to talk about rather than cast extra doubt upon any and every detail. I hope all of the doubters and fencesitters and trolls try to sign up and play it for themselves so that they stop sounding like some kind of broken robot bent on shitting on something others find interesting and are hyped by.

The only two things this game is lacking at the moment:

- SP mode with Story Campaign
- lots and lots of maps

Everything else is top in the genre or defining a new genre level.

Props to Respawn.

Bold claims , were you in the Alpha.

I expect this to be good , but best in genre out the gate ?

I like server browsers too, I just don't see any point in one for a game as locked down as this one.

The server browser would allow you to choose what server you would like to join instead of being up to the mercy of randomized or even "ranked" matchmaking. People do intend on playing this game competitively and that is the best method in orchestrating matches for scrims and ladder play.

I'm hoping for some way to do private lobbies , otherwise scrims are out.

It's actually the main reason my clan is against supporting the game going forward. Most of them want to either host a server or at least make sure we can all play together.

You're at the mercy regardless without private servers and/or 2 squad parties. If you can't password-protect the server you want to join there is no guarantee you will get the open slot(s) before somebody else.

Then 3 out of 5 of your team get in with 2 randoms and you sit there in the lobby yelling at each other to leave.

What you want needs two squad "parties". Doesn't need a server browser. Get your 10 players in the party, pick teams, then launch. The game puts you on a server in whichever regional datacenter you're playing on. Look at Dota2. Does anybody think it needs a server browser? Nope. Because it gives you those party options, private rooms, etc. that give you the functionality you actually want.

As far as competition goes I wouldn't bother until they make a commitment to supporting that level of play. Instead focus on the games with developers who are doing the right stuff to support e-sports.

Abbie said private matches are coming after launch.

Looks great fun and frantic but the more I watch it the more I realize I think I've gotten burned out on COD style FPS games. I've been playing this style of MP game on and off for over 5 years and while Titanfall looks awesome it is definitely more of an evolution than a revolution.

Watched a lot of Max's games yesterday, and regardless of grunt AI (switch killed him twice, seemed okay to me), # of pixels, textures, frames, etc.,...... Game looks like it's SO MUCH FUN! And that's why I play games....so I'm pretty excited, really hope I get in the beta Friday!
