Titanfall Gameplay Footage (Embargo Lifted)

Watching streams is fun, but I want to play.
And I am tired of hearing every rape joke during steams. (Multiple channels too).

Haha omg. You MUST be joking. The animations in BF are several GENERATIONS above what exists in Titanfall.

Like how you just teleport into vehicles, or parachutes appear and disappear?

BF4 might have more correct character animations, but Titanfall seems to have animations for everything.

How can you possibly consider the animations to be nice by any current standards?

Watching the gameplay vids... I think this game will prove that graphics arn't everything, it's gameplay that matters, and this game looks pretty damn fun.

I have a feeling I am going to get in. I hope so, I really want to play it for myself to see if my fears are misplaced.

The PC footage does look better, as expected. Would be awesome if someone was able to mod enhance the game a bit on the PC side.

March can't some soon enough. Going to be a great month.

The "teleporting into vehichles" are obviously a design choice, but I agree that it looks strange. But that strangeness has nothing to do with the quality of the animations in the game. The animations in BF (especially BF4) are absolutely top notch in both quality and resolution (animation resolution that is, amount of animation frames). The animations in Titanfall look low-res (definitely below Ghosts), and also strange and wonky in many occasions. Especially the animation blending is really bad.
But this really makes sense actually, since the production cost and teamsize for BF4 is probably 5x that of Titanfall. It's just that the animations in Titanfall were several notches below what I expected even considering the lower budget/teamsize.

Spot on.

Played the beta today and i gotta say its boring, really boring. The only reason its boring is the bots. If the bots was repalced with real players it would be amazing.

I don't think it's that obvious. It gives rise to cheap and iffy tactics and it looks ridiculous. To me it seems more like a cheap way of doing things, instead of purely a design choice.
I'm a huge BF3 fan and if there was one thing that could have made it better, it would have been consistent animations for everything.

I am not arguing the quality of the animations in Titanfall is better. I think that if you look at the entirety of the animations and their implementation, they are better.

they've addressed this multiple times. they don't animate that for gameplay purposes.

So they say.

To add to that, this might be the case, but it doesn't change anything about how it looks.

My goodness, those animations.. You'd think we'd have some type of significant leap in animations this generation.

Other than how much fun this game looks, nothing about this screams "next-gen".

So, what's next-gen look like? I played this lots and I can tell you that it feels next-gen...maybe not a reinvention of the wheel that is self-evident upon first viewing, but it feels expanded in the right ways when you play it, when you decide to do the things that you can do, and then do them. Watching someone else play is just not enough for most novel yet significant twists on familiar genres for them to be fully understood or appreciated for what they do.

Or are you talking about graphics? In that case, I wonder how many of you ever got into games in the first place if amazing-wow visuals became a requirement to be excited for a game.

The game looks good enough for me. When everything is in motion and there's all that shit going on, it's actually downright impressive.

I'm gonna say that the game looks amazing and clean when you're playing it on your own display. Playing a game about identifying and following silhouettes and lining up crosshairs should be easy on the eyes over the long term and it seems exactly that to me. And especially with the speed of play, they rightly focused on being usable with a very clean-cut style so that you know wall-running pathways and surfaces and has just enough gritty detail to get the message across about fighting it out in ruined and war-torn future civilization. It looks great, but not Killzone Shadowfall-techdemo-up-the-wazoo-great. I know which one I'd rather play even despite that difference.
