New 'X' trailer [Monolithsoft] shows uncut gameplay

After the Gamplay Trailer i´m sure this will be SP only. This Game looks like Xenoblade 2.0, i don´t get ist how you can compare this with MH. There is nothing at all the Trailers that points in this direction, lol.

It seems there will be some kind of classes, there is a charakter Level and a rank level and the combo system from XB seems to return.
There was a chat log thing on the initial reveal trailer.

Yep.

We know there is online, not to what extent.

Don't most Nintendo games have some kind of Social media aspect now? Could it be some kind of Miiverse integration? Like the random people who leave messages in Mario and Wind Waker.

No. The Japanese comes across as people chatting in real time. 'Hello!' 'Hey' 'What'll we do today?' 'Oh, that's big!' 'Let's get him!' etc

It goes like:

Hi!
Good evening
What should be do today?
It's Huge!!
Let's kill it!

It's online multiplayer.

Lol beaten.

I've got three big issues with the combat (so far):
-There doesn't seem to be any physics effects on or physical reactions from enemies when you're pumping them full of bullets or beating the crap out of them with swords.
-The UI is extremely cluttered, even ignoring the huge as damage numbers being vomited on the screen.
-All the weapons and mechs feel very weak, especially when it comes to sound design.

This game does seem interesting, but it feels like the guys designing the game didn't really do (or haven't gotten around to doing) anything to make the player character and the party feel powerful and thereby make the opponents seem more threatening. For example, XCOM has some pretty meaty sound effects for the starter guns, so that when you start going up against tougher enemies and those guns start falling short, you feel like those bad guys are dangerous because they're tougher and harder to beat.

Good observation

All I want to know is how much the online is a part of the game.

If it's just Xenoblade with people playing other party members, awesome, game of the forever.

But if it's making your own character which means all the important story characters are random NPC's (like a real MMO >_>) then yuck.

Mmmh... I don't know how I feel after watching this footage. The way the enemies barely react to getting hit is a bit disappointing and the huge QTE looking thingies that appear in the middle of the screen are quite distracting.

I'll wait to see more.

This thread blew my mind. Amazing how many people were "hyped" over a sequel in which they knew nothing about the previous game. I mean, if you had watched a Xenoblade battle on youtube for just 1 minute you would have seen the exact same thing. Looks like Xenoblade HD which is a GREAT thing. A bit nervous about the online aspect though.

That is no QTE, looks the same as in XB for Combos.

If this game turns out a full fledged mmo...

dat meltdown xD lol

This would be one of the biggest gaming disappointments for me in a LONG time. An online challenge mode or hunting mode, sure whatever. An option to play the game with other people as your party members but game plays the same, sure, as long as it doesn't make playing single player worse or gimped. But man if the online aspect affects the game design in any way, I will be sorely disappointed.

Hard to say to be honest. Personally I think it's going to be that your main character is player created, who can be taken online to hunt and do sidequests with others, meanwhile the single player portion of the game will feature a normal party cast.

I wouldn't mind either approach really as long as the world is interesting and they build a grand story around it.

Anyone else here who doesn't care if it's "online based" or not and is looking forward to it regardless like me? I quite enjoy both Online and Offline RPGs and it seems like a ton of negativity on that front so far if it turns out to be something "online."

Probably not the crowd that's onboard now but PSO had a following for that type of stuff on consoles.

Being online based actually makes me much more interested. Playing the exact same thing as XB again would not be as exciting for me.

If I can play co-op with a friend, then that sounds neat. Though, if it's really online, you'd think the fights would need to get a whole lot more challenging. Other players do a lot better than AI teammates.

And yeah, the more I see of this game, the more it seems like you have a player created character and the focus is definitely online. Each person has their own mech even.

Regardless of how that aspect ends up what I want is:

-Beautiful areas to explore
-Improved battle and quest systems
-A good overarching story

All of these can be done regardless of the online/offline nature.

I don't care if its online as long as the single player is Xenoblade type epic jrpg

The game can be as online as it wants.

As long as it has a guided and focused Takahashi story like Xenoblade, I will be happy.

I think it looks really great. It's not like there are many alternatives for a big budget jrpg.

The concept of Xenoblade online is amazing. Actually coordinating the tank, healer and dps with other players would be so good, rather than just doing one role, and praying the AI does what you want.

It's just the story and characters I'm worried about. As long as the multiplayer doesn't bring that down I'm more than happy with it.

I thought the battle system in Xenoblade was garbage due to the lack of control/gambits and bad AI.

Impossible to judge from this yet, but I hope X will be much better. For now it looks very similar to me. :/

Interesting trailer, but in a lot of ways it makes me feel like X is a loooong ways off. It's hard to believe that this trailer represents over a year of dev time since the last trailer we saw, it doesn't look that far removed. In some ways, this new trailer tells us less about X than the first one did, and I'm still confused as to what kind of game this is.

Still, there are a handful of titles that could make be buy a Wii U, and X is potentially one of them.

Yeah... I'm not convinced that this isn't some type of Monster Hunter clone with a heavy focus on multiplayer.

Monster Hunter with heavy online would be...Monster Hunter :P.

X uses Xenoblade's combat system, which means it has about as much in common with Monster Hunter as Final Fantasy 12 does.

Now that I played some Munster Hunter I can verify the saying that tells how people comparing shit to Monster Hunter obviously never played much Monster Hunter.

X looks banging and a cool evolution on Xenoblade.

From the gameplay. lack of cutscenes focused through ALL the trailers, from the obvious avatars (Just look at them), this is a online game.

Now does this have a single player full length experience?, or is it like white chronicles and has coop?, or is it like monster hunter?.

But it's no doubt 100% online of some sort.

Or if you want to be blunt: Monster Hunter is a slow-paced action game with real time combat and this isn't. Problem solved. :p

It's coming from a developer who writes RPGs with stories so huge they could fill several thousand page novels and not fit it all in. What do you think?

More and more it is becoming blatantly obvious that Nintendo and Monolith Soft showing any form of online play this early was a huge mistake.

There haven't been ANY game details released about this game. Everything we know has been from analysing the three videos released for it. Nintendo hasn't even confirmed multiplayer yet.
Still nothing, huh? I guess Nintendo are just having their teams pull out footage of anything they have announced at this point to fill space, as opposed to having a proper reveal of it yet.

But the 2nd trailer had some cutscenes.

Difficulty was likely dialed down for demonstration purposes as it is in places like E3.

Busy UI and annoying battle shouts were likely due to the language barrier. XBC had a lot of shouting too but it allowed you to keep track of what the rest of the party is doing. Won't help if you can't understand it, of course.

I play JRPG for single player experience. Optional online stuff is fine, but I don't want to be forced with anything multiplayer.

I don't think this is enough to go off of, look at what Nintendo did with Paper Mario, they don't seem to be afraid to strong arm some changes. I'd definitely prefer it to be structured like Xenoblade but their hesitation to show anything story related even with three trailers/teasers is what keeps me skeptical. If there is a big focus on story it doesn't make sense to promote the game by minimizing that aspect in favor of gameplay features.

Not saying that's confirmation either way, we still know basically nothing about the game.

I Would love a good story-heavy 60sh+ hours Takahashi game and when you finish unlock a persistent world MMO just like Star Citizen is going to do. That would be cool.

If this were Nintendo as a first party developer, I might believe that explanation. But this is Tetsuya Takahashi. All of his games are very story heavy, even the ones that are high on the gameplay aspects like Xenoblade. I really doubt he ditched his signature element as a game designer.

I have no reason to believe that the multiplayer aspects are simply what they did for Soma Bringer on a grander scale.
