Titanfall Beta now taking applications, the thread of begging and whining

Hi thank for your concern but im actually fine. You see I happened to be in the right place at the right time to get the only reliable shot at beta access last night. Refreshing vinces twitter over and over boosting him into trending. Also being told to listen to a radio show in hope. I didnt realise I forced their hand in making this one massive marketing ploy?

What you guys may not realise im actually one of the few who isnt hyped for the game and am looking to see if this changes my mind. It i get a code I will hand it out on here because my interest is gone after last night. I will express again, that in my view we should not be expected to race for these damn things, which are now selling for hundreds on ebay which Respawn dont appear to be combating by sending out extra codes.

Perhaps I never saw a devs twitter account during a beta launch before and this is actually the norm? That I dont know. What I do know is that we waited for an email which they didnt seem to know whether it was going or not, or if it containrd pc codes or not, all while the codes slowly trickle out across the net in a way obviously manufactured to further the hype.

Maybe that is common practice but personally I find it crooked. Perhaps I am in the wrong and we should be ok with this seeing as im the only one who isnt. I can admit the numbers are largely opposing my view so its likely I am. However it doesnt stop me from feeling this sort of practice is messed up, whether I should be ok with it or not.
not hyped, stayed up all night

Hmm, I received a giant pile of nothing, but if anyone with an extra XBox One code would want to swap, I'd be crazy appreciative! You'll also be my honorary GAF BFFF! :)

This whole situation is exactly like Halo: Reach was for me. I had to win a code on twitter to play and it was very stressful. I remember all of the media also giving them away and getting the hype going.

Well I'll be damned, I expected to be in the second or third big wave of key if I was very lucky, but guess who's gonna install this badboy right now. :D

By the way, I received my code a few hours after most other people here seemed to get their email (which is why I thought I missed out), so don't give up hope yet!

People were definitely mad about not getting into the alpha. Not as many as the beta, but there was definitely a vocal group. I'll give you the trailer, but announcing on Twitter to sign up for a beta that is meant to test server load doesn't sound farfetched.

I know there's always going to be someone mad, but definetly not as many. As far as twitter goes:

They're not asking you to test their servers, they're telling people that they can WIN early access to the game. It's advertising.

Just got an Xbox code instead of a PC. Gone through the support route, but looks like they're still sending them out at least for those waiting.
Hopefully they do a few more waves today.

Guess i will hop in the shower and eat some breakfast while i wait for based respawn to feed us peasants.

Here is one I made for Vince's contest, Drew is the pilot getting crunched.

From some of these posts I am seeing, I get the feeling people think that if they don't have a code now they wont be getting one. Respawn will be sending them periodically in batches until the end of the day 17/02.

Don't give up hope just yet.

Sorry guys, for now I'm keeping hold of the key until I get my pc one just in case I need it to verify anything. After that, if it still works, friend of mine with an Xbone is getting first refusal, but if he doesn't want it, I'll pass it onto GAF.

Ok i got an xbone code instead of pc and contacted support, now when they give me a pc code will the xbone code still work or do they deactivate it? I have a friend who has an xbone and hasnt got a code yet so I want to give it to him , although only after i get my pc code from support.

Once you start downloading the PC version give your friend the X1 code.

I doubt it will magically stop working.

What did the webpage say after you signed up? It should have said, "if you're selected codes will be sent by the 17th."

It was pretty awesome of the respawn guy to post 100+ codes for gaffers to augment thie process. He's not going to have an endless supply to give. All these straggles are people with extra because of it.

As far as this being a marketing ploy, it makes sense for it to not be an open beta. Otherwise, it would esentially be a demo, and we as consumers have ruined the practice of demos.

And why are you staying up all night getting upset about a game you weren't hyped for?

Just give him the code when you've redeemed your PC code and see

Well, until very early but yes? Codes were going out at that time and it would have been the most convenient method to let it download overnight because we cant get great download speeds and it could take a long time. I thought they were anyway but then we were later told no pc so I gave up.

Yeah , open beta totally backfired for EA's mega franchise BF when they let everyone play it on 3 platforms last year.....

Posted in the impressions thread but might as well post it here too:

I got a PC key from here last night but when I try to install it says there's an error opening the audio installer, re-downloaded, ran as administrator and it still says it. Tried installing on my laptop and it worked but it's not good enough to play on really. Anyone know how to fix this? Copying the directory over from the laptop doesn't work either, Origin won't recognise it.

I really want an xbox one code and signed up as soon as it went live. Just frustrated seeing people selling multiple keys on ebay. Beyond annoyed with it.

Anyways Happy Hallmark day everyone. Anyone know when they will be emailing more keys?? Thanks.

Ps: if anyone wants to be super generous Ill take an xbox one code. Worth a shot!!

They need to hand out more PC codes. I'm having a hard time finding a game.

This what i was curious about. Since they are releasing codes so slowly for pc are ppl having a hard time actually finding ppl. I think this is a sign that they REALLY need to roll out more codes for pc

Does it seem like there's a pattern to the codes that are being sent out at all?

As in, are the people that have codes already all people who signed up pretty much immediately after the site started accepting them? Or do people who applied really late also have codes already?

Just wondering because scrolling through this thread there's a lot of codeless people who applied super early, so maybe the release of codes is random and not based on when you applied?

Pretty much agree especially if they cared for "beta feedback" they would be screening or asking for gamertags for actual Xbone owners.

I signed up right as the site went live and have no code.

By the looks of it, it's random.

They need to hand out more PC codes. I'm having a hard time finding a game.

You aren't the first person on PC I've seen say this. Plus the people that have actually gotten e-mail codes when signed up for PC got XB1 codes.

SEND US THE CODES RESPAWN AAAHHHHHHHH

The way they are conducting this beta is intentional and they are doing a dam find job at what they intended to do by building and creating hype. I would be shocked if everyone who signed up did not get a code by the end of the weekend.

I signed up immediately and have received nada.
