New 'X' trailer [Monolithsoft] shows uncut gameplay

I want to know what the battle music sounds like - I heard people talking about it earlier in this thread, but I swear, I can barely hear it over all the noises of the battle and characters screaming, lol. The battle/boss themes in Xenoblade always made me really pumped up for the fight, so I hope we can adjust how loud the music is in X.

I just went through some of the posts in this thread. A lot of quick love/hate posts.

I did not see any post commenting on the cluttered UI in light of the GAMEPAD. That to me was the most mysterious and interesting bit from the gameplay vid.

For the gameplay seems similar to Xenoblade but including Mechs, with better graphics and great enemies. That alone is Amazing my friends!!

So if these cities are crash landed ships fro Earth, I really wonder how this will guide the story. Is there a war between nations? In one trailer we saw you fighting another mech. So maybe some countries are enemies and some are allies.

I'm going to assume that the map will be on the Gamepad's screen. Maybe that will be how you change gear for everyone and such which would be cool. Xenoblade had a lot of customization options for the UI (like removing elements), so I expect this one to have the same (if not more) options.

wow look at all these games with dudes hitting larger creatures! What's with all these Monster Hunter clones?

From the freaking reveal of the game, it was clear that this is a spiritual successor to Xenoblade.

People claiming that now they had no idea it's Xenoblade 2.0 sound like they were watching a completely different trailer than others were.

Stop pls

I actually wonder about that. There is no doubt Nintendo had an influence on Xenoblade, but I wonder where their influence ended. The game, story wise, isn't much different than his usual stuff, except for the more shounen style influence. Gameplay it's a total opposite from the design philosophies of his past games.

If Nintendo hadn't come in and cracked the whip, Xenoblade would probably be three or four games long

Came in here thinking this LONG thread was perhaps about some more gameplay details or something I missed in the trailer.....Instead it's people arguing over what the hell the game is. I don't think I have ever seen a game still not explain exactly what it is after what 2 years of Dev?

#TeamXenobladeSuccesor

I was disappointed. It looked like a cheap free to play MMO with no story and depth just attacking random enemys. I hope its not the case with the final game....

That's exactly the case. What you saw is literally all there is to the game, and its done over and over for 40+ hours! Can't you see why folk are fans of the Xeno series?

...we should have had another cinematic trailer, or gameplay with better context.

Damn, the trailer looked like X is still far off since it still showed the same area from the announcement trailer. I really hope it doesn't slip into 2015 now. Monster Hunter 4 is a smaller game for 3DS and was announced even before X and it's 2015. *fingers crossed*

E3... come sooner.

Well, the first trailer had me hyped, but that gameplay... err.

Extremely mundane and very, very static looking.
You say that like it is a bad thing :)

Sure is. MH is a relic of old school, unsophisticated game design and technological know how. It feels like it's caught in the 80's when computers had a few K of RAM and developers were happy to make a game where you repeat the same boring keystrokes again and again in a world made of flat textures. I tried the Wii U demo because to see what this MH thing was about. My eyes bled and mind numbed and I'll never get that time back again.

It'd be a good iOS game because it feels about as deep and Flappy Bird. Yes, I know it's not but that game pissed me off so much when I played it. Utter junk.

There are a lot of people that are not interested in the Wii U or this game. I cannot prove it but it is the same thing for any Nintendo news or game.

Too little was shown really, nothing to judge the game. But from what was shown

Combat is similar to Xenoblade .... SHOCKING NEWS
You can Jump in and out of Mechs. I think there is going to be a restriction on the Mech, so that it forces players to use it strategically.
There is a party of team members
Multiple weapons, close combat and range combat
Story we know nothing so far .... and I am OK with that, better to approach this game on a blackout.

That was the first thing I noticed and posted about. Hopefully they will at least have the option to put some of that shit on the gamepad. The screen is just wayyy too cluttered for my tastes otherwise. The enemy AI looked pretty shit in the video but I am sure they will clean that up. So basically for me it will probably come down to the UI for me. I'm not buying a game with that obnoxious shit distracting me from what's on screen.

But Xenoblade had customizable UI, this can do the same or even further if you add the Gamepad.

Is X like Xenoblade because if it is, maybe I won't bother buying Xenoblade if that's what the combat is like. That was a terrible, terrible piece of gameplay to show for your first gameplay reveal.

Yes, that's Xenoblade's gameplay. It's an jrpg. Sounds like you just don't like this type of game. Move on.

Ok people, watch this....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcz9elTJ1n8&feature=youtu.be&t=1m15s

This is the same combat. Obvious that it was extremely similar from the first trailer of X. If you didn't play Xenoblade, the fact that those who did all said it looked the same, should have tipped you off. If you were interested, you should have watched videos such as this one, done some research, and it would have been no surprise.

I can understand just by looking at it it's hard to decipher how it plays. It is not action. Basically you get close to the enemy and the character you are controlling auto attacks. Then you have a choice of a special attack (on the bottom) which you choose by selecting. These are generally strategic. You can topple, break, attack from behind, the side etc. They have a cool down affect after using. There is something called morale which you build to do a linked or chain attack. That bar is on the upper left. The B QTE that you are seeing boosts morale. When the bar is full you can pull off that attack. The rings around the characters indicate that person is being targeted (or has the enemy's aggro), this is good if your character is a tank, bad if you are a spellcaster (like Melia in the video). You want to gain or lose the aggro accordingly.

people have already tried showing Xenoblade gameplay and I think they're just skipping over it. Minds are made up and X is now Monster Hunter for some reason

also props for choosing a video with the best song in the game

The combat was what i expected, which is a good thing. It looks like itd be a lot more fun to play, than it is watching.

Im not even sure if Nintendo originally planned on showing X footage in this direct. It wasnt an official trailer, and seemed to be added to ease speculation from fans.

Iwata said to stay tuned for more news. So this will probably be the next official reveal, with possibly its first trailer.

I feel like this combat footage dimmed some peoples hype, but itll do a 3d world turn around when we see more of it.

So what this really tells us is that not many people interested in X played Xenoblade or at least knows how Xenoblade plays.

Oooh one more thing. The guns.

There are way too many numbers because they have guns in this game firing rapidly. They should make the gun numbers look smaller.

Or in this case cause it's in development and people need to balance it out the numbers are larger so it's easier to spot OP damage for the devs.

I think the problem is that so many people like so many different types of console JRPGs, and people latched onto X for it to be their Final Fantasy, or Valkyrie Profile, or Kingdom Hearts, or whatever. They just wanted something to pin their hopes on for the return of large JRPGs to consoles, outside of the XIII trilogy and a smattering of other titles that fans have had to branch out to over the last gen if they didn't follow the genre to handhelds. Of course, all of those games play drastically differently so when all they knew going in was "large scale console jrpg" and don't see what they pre-conceived it to be....people get upset

To be fair, I could see those that say "This looks nothing like Xenogears/saga" , but I thought that shift was covered when Xenoblade was released, and was made pretty clear that it really shares the name and not a lot else..

At least this is how I imagine the confusion stems, even though people like us who played and enjoyed Xenoblade are a little baffled about what people were expecting.

A lot of the responses are making me think that people believed this would be an action-jrpg, along the lines of KH or FFXV. I can see why it might've given off that impression, but I'm excited for more Xenoblade.

thinking about xenoblade on wiiu, I'd put the map on the gamepad, not the combat UI at all. tons of info you need at first glance, imho

Looking good, a few minor critiques but they aren't worth mentioning when the overall whole of what I saw looked so promising. Definitely wanting this one.

Oh god. Please, do all of us a favor and don't bother with Xenoblade.

Yeah, that must be it.

I can't even tell if posts like this are serious anymore.

To be fair it happens in every console exclusive thread. People will post just to say that it doesn't look good or it's not worth the hype and tbh they are entitled to their opinion.

I was personally a lot less impressed with the game after last nights gameplay video but I think we should learn that with Nintendo games, trailers are sometime hit and miss.

I thought the original MK8 trailer was amazing but thought the second one made it look pretty bland but last nights one got me super hyped again. Same with 3D World the original trailer was really poor and then the second one made it look fantastic.

I think the hype will return for me with X when we actually see someone exploring those massive, fantastic looking Worlds with battles thrown in as part of the experience rather than a battle just being the only thing they show. It's a pity because I think that is the last time we will see it before E3.

I can deal with the character health bars and whatnot, but that shit at the bottom center absolutely has to go.

the bar with the attacjks to choose from?
when you start unlocking them and they become more and more...you need to look at that bar a lot (assuming it's like xnoblade)

Xenoblade was probably the best JRPG last gen. Super hyped.

Don't understand the Monster Hunter comparisons at all. And I love Monster Hunter. But this isn't even action-based combat.

Xenoblade HD for the WiiU needs to happen too.

Surprised at all the "Monster Hunter clone" shite still going on in this thread. It's almost like said people have played neither a Takahashi game, or a Monster Hunter game and are just parroting other similarly baseless statements.

Story will be epic, gameplay looks like it will be Xenoblade with bells and whistles. Which is exactly what I want.

Huh I just noticed the HUGE NUMBERS only appear when the PC is the one doing damage, otherwise it's quite tiny.... Unlike Xenoblade which kept them all at the same size.

Those rapid fire guns aren't helping the whole "huge numbers flashing all over yo face" thing.

Isn't he much higher Level than the others? The other characters were close to the boss's Level IIRC.
