PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4/PSP) | February 2014

Almost saved enough money to buy a Vita and I am super excited to play an enormous catalogue of games (already bought screen protector and hori cover). The problem is I want a 2000 version but don't know if I have the patience :S. Here's my list of games I need to get eventually. I starred the ones I have from PS+.

Daganronpa, Dragon's Crown, Escape Plan, Gravity Rush*, Guacamelee!, Hotline Miami*, Killzone: Mercenary, LittleBigPlanet, Lone Survivor, Lumines Muramasa, Oddworld Stranger's Wrath, OlliOlli, Persona 4 Golden, PlayStation All Stars, Runner2, Sine Mora*, Sonic Racing*, Soul Sacrifice*, Sound Shapes, Spelunky, Stick it to the Man, Super Stardust Delta, Tearaway, Terraria, The Walking Dead, Toukiden, Ultimate MvC 3, Uncharted*, Velocity Ultra, Wipeout 2048*, Ys Celceta, Zero Escape.

Anyone think I am missing some good games here?

Also first post on Neogaf!
Welcome to GAF! Welcome to VitaGAF! Enjoy your stay.

So the game is garbage because of loadings and a fucking UI? Seriously?

What about the gameplay, which is what should matter the most?

Dont know what Baekshi's is on about. UMVC3 on the vita is probably the most complete version of the game.

Load times are long yes, but the game plays at a solid 60FPS and it looks and plays fantastic, and the UI is exactly the same in every version so I dont understand that complaint.

UMVC3 is a great port, and even better one considering that you have the ability to save your online replays and then use the hitbox viewer as well, two features that were never added to the console versions.

There's tons of content in the main game itself, and it's not too rare you'll get a match so I think It's a great addition to every vita owners library if you want some fighting action the go.

That's a nice list. I'd also add JSR. I had some good fun with it a few days ago. Also, the MGS HD Collection, Flower and both Rayman games.

And don't forget all the PSone and PSP titles you can get as well.

Also, welcome! And since you're new around, I'll just leave this here...

The Vita version of UMvC3 is pretty awesome.

I didn't really notice any crazy load times, because I mostly play it on the bus rides to and from work, so it's not like I'm going anywhere, or in a particular hurry.

The game itself looks amazing, and is a lot of fun. Framerate and resolution are top notch (I'm thinking it's native res, and it feels like 60fps). I highly recommend it.

Grabbed divekick and TxK. Wasn't ready for that TxK.

Good job on TxK! Stick with it, you adapt to the levels pretty fast and classic mode is a great way to progress. Never played one of Jeff's games before and I just completed the game via classic mode a little while ago. Going back for more of course. Brilliant game to have on Vita. Up there with the best.

Need more TxK posts >.<'

Finished Killzone: Mercenary. The final boss is a little bullshit and the "twist" was seen from a mile away. But it was a decent shooter for the system. More than I can say for Resistance (which was fucking horrible) and CoD (which would've been good if it had an actual campaign and more maps, despite the fact it was phoned-in and put on Resistances engine, amazingly).

But as far as shooters go? Eh... I dunno, the money and load-out system isn't really needed outside of changing things quickly after you beat some requirements for the specialized contracts.

That said, the level-design is to be commended for the multiple ways you can go through most levels. More shooters need it.

Oh don't get me wrong I love the game, and will be jamming on it for awhile. I just wasn't ready for how trippy and out there it would be.

Between this and spelunky I think my vita addiction isn't going anywhere especially with FFX coming next month.

^ Awesome :) OlliOlli isn't bad at all either btw. If you're up for a challenge, very satisfying gameplay once you get past the initial learning curve, great mix between TxK and Spelunky.

My girlfriend bought me Danganronpa for Valentines day! I think I've got a keeper!

A friend literally described it to me as a twisted logic/mystery visual novel style game. I'm still not sure what to think or if that's an accurate description but it pushed me over the edge to buy a Vita. Recently playing 999 totally changed my perception of the type of games I like.

Also, whoever made that welcome gif. I am impressed.

Hey, guys.

TxK.

I'm not sure where I should begin on this. Actually, that's a lie. If you don't have it or a Vita and you like games
and you can stand flashing lights
, buy it.

It's just...pure. A straight-forward arcade shooter, with straight-forward vector graphics that look amazingly crisp and smooth. A brilliant soundtrack that just complements and magnifies everything the game throws at you - from visuals to gameplay. And man, what gameplay! It's really just pure fun. No cutscenes, no story, no loading, no anything that gets in the way of mindmelting shooty goodness. Just shoot these things while collecting these powers and don't die as you make your way through 100 perfectly-paced levels. All for little more then a ticket to the movies.

I have no prior experience with the Tempest series or Llamasoft's games in general, so this was quite the pleasant surprise. Which is a massive understatement as I'm currently hooked on it over MH3U. Which I was previously hooked on. To be honest, I'm still wondering exactly why I love this so much, but mainly because when I start thinking about it, I get the urge to go for another round of TxK (and often do just that).

So yeah, TxK. Worth a purchase unless you're allergic to fun and/or exploding supernovas melting through your Vita screen into your brain.

And who's allergic to either of those?

^perfectly put!

Btw, did you ever check out Eufloria HD?

Yup, I believe I commented on it in the earlier PSN Vita thread. Great little strategy game that I'll be keeping around until Frozen Synapse Tactics. It does lots of things right, but it also has some quirks that are hard to overlook/drag it down from being a 9/10 in my book.

Mainly that it's lacking in depth and that the nice visuals are almost never seen since I'm in the fully zoomed-out mode most of the time.

Other then that, it was really nice. Touch controls worked way better then I thought, nice variety in the challenges thrown your way in campaign mode, and plenty of replay value for what it is.

Well, I didn't say anything about not being played well and all.

It can take up to like about 30 seconds to a load one match, which can be completed in 30 seconds. Half the time, you're loading.

To me, that is unplayable especially for a fighting game.

Sorry I think I missed it, I'd agree with that on the whole but for the depth I think they added enough mechanics that I had enough to deal with, most of the time and like you said, a fair amount of setups for different strategies. It is quite a simple game though, and the zoomed out view isn't anywhere near as nice.
I tended to play it mostly zoomed out as well, only when I set up something quite cool or wanted to see what was going on then I'd slow it down and zoom in, sometimes appreciating the visuals. Shame they didn't make more use of the buttons I reckon, even though the touch was decent. Just things for convenience.

Haven't played Frozen Synapse before, will look into it when it comes out.

The more and more I play Spelunky on both PC and Vita, the more I notice the random slowdown on Vita still and the more I realize that the game is now virtually unplayable without the new PRO HUD. :\

Played Payday 2 last month on disc. I download the PS+ version and all my shit is gone. Levels, money, etc.

What gives?

Some games do this. Burnout Paradise comes to mind.

I bought TxK to keep Skyzard happy in these < 17K NPD days

Going to play it in between DanganRonpa, Spelunky dailies and finishing all OlliOlli levels :)

Hey, I played both games but Sorcery Saga is better than T&E. Especially since it has no pervert dragon around the main character.

But yeah, I agree Sorcery Saga sucks.

I liked both games :/. Well, I still have to finish them, but I enjoyed T&E better. Pervert Dragon was funny!

Well, in NA it was 35K last January, but Japan is looking good so far! :)

35K more vitabros a month? woah not too shabby, lotta dosh being spent :P

Also, give TxK some time. Like 1-2 hours, like with olliolli. Very rewarding still, and different to spelunky and olliolli so they're a great mix to have. Same with Luftrausers, when it finally comes out.

I see a logical contradiction here ;)

T&E has such a bad reviews i bought it out of curiosity - I'll have to play it one day to see if what pople say is true.

Welcome to GAF and VitaGAF.

This things always amazed me. I love Gifs from GAF. I have this video in favorites on my youtube account. Really funny.

There is Left Behind, the DLC :)

I suppose you already know it.

I posted that because the DLC was great :P

Corrosive: Convince me to buy Disgaea 4 in August. I still haven't finished Disgaea 3. D:

Disgaea 1's sequel being portable would be an insta-buy for me.

nothing is wrong with them, but the ones this year don't scream "2014 headlining title" at me. I'm sure some people consider Toukiden or Danganronpa on an equal hype level as Tearaway/Killzone/DragonsCrown. Last year Soul Sac did...

...obviously there are other genres of games released, regardless, back to my point... do any of those hold the same amount of clout as Tearaway Etc. FFX could fit the bill, and don't get me wrong i'm thrilled for it...again - if it was a new game with that amount of production/hype/etc then it'd fit as a "must-play" game of the year I'm looking for in the release calender. But right now there isn't any in my eyes. I am expecting one to be announced though.

yes, i buy games to have fun. don't see how that is relevant, my point stands - there is no 2014 Headlining title/s....yet. FFX is the closest.

Like i said localizations are great, I'm down with them, and they really allow regions to experience different styles and franchises that they haven't been able to before...but they aren't mind blowing and are headlining the year.

One thing i forgot to say on my previous post is that you listed Killzone, Tearaway, Muramasa and Dragon's Crown as AAA/big games to absolutely get... That's your point of view, the only real AAA/big game was Killzone, Tearaway was made by 10/15 people, Muramasa was a straight port of a niche game and Dragon's Crown was a big project but for a small developer.
Are they games to absolutely get? Again it's only your point of view, i would like to see Killzone Mercenary graphics but i have absolutely no interest in it, in fact i didn't even apply for the beta, same for Muramasa, Dragon's Crown is very good but not for everyone, the only one that is really a must get is probably Tearaway.

The lack of must get titles is again your point of view, for me for example Daganronpa is a must get i was waiting for years.

Imo you are confusing exposure and press praise with the true value of a game, Toukiden is a big new game, Daganronpa, Deception, Demon Gaze and others may not big but new and promising more than many other "big" games and even if ports FFX/X-2 and Borderlands 2 are big games.

Your complaining about the upcoming Vita's lineup reminds me of the 3ds owners trying to dismiss the Vita lineup trying to exclude some games that are not exclusive, are indie, are not system sellers etc, those 3ds owners are so sad to me because real gamers buy games for having fun with them no matter how big/exclusive/etc, not for some sort of propaganda for their own console or to demonstrate to themselves that they choose the best console or even worse they haven't wasted their money.

Does Dangdanropa is replayable?

Im about to bit on that game but I want someone to hype me :)

Yep. That's like all the GIFs from the Februrary PS4 reveal. And the music fits it perfectly lol

I sometimes think console warriors / fanboys are just people that feel unsecure about their purchase, that need to convince themselves they have made the right choice. And the easiest way is trashing the competition until you believe your own shitty statements. If I'm right, I found it really sad.

He gets to my nerves later in the game. Seems like he's personality is just being a pervert throughout the game. I haven't finished it because of him.
I see a logical contradiction here ;)
Yeah, it might be fun at first but doing the same thing over and over again? It's not good anymore.

Danganronpa is Replayable. Not all achievements can be unlocked in a single playthrough. It is a twisted wordy game that feels like an Ace Attorney / VLR / Clue mashup. It is over the top Japanese game that feels fresh for me since I have been playing the same boring shooting games.

I feel bad for making a person trade his Tearaway for my Sorcery Saga. Feels like I am scamming a person.

Do we know yet if FFX:HD will be available on it's own from the marketplace (for vita).

I'd rather do this than buy the physical double pack.

You can only buy both X & X-2, regardless of whether you buy physical or digital

Well, he could buy the X-2 code from somebody that buys the retail version but only wants X. If he only wants X, he could get some money back by selling the code to somebody / buying the game second hand (since probably the first guy registered the code).
