this

but there's still a lot we haven't seen yet

as a game without multiplayer you have to believe it has to be a fairly long and diverse shooter

want to see more. I love the first few comments that are posted minutes after OP's post and they already have an opinion lol. What a joke.

Game looks fantastic. the gameplay I need to see more of though.

Why do you feel that way?

Because this is official footage released by RAD or Sony, advertised and called gameplay footage? We are not looking at a "Sony gave them the game and the press decided to show us this footage as gameplay"- situation?

Hrm, selectable QTEs. That's new, I guess? Interesting idea, but the choice looks like it's there for flavor only. Variety is good though, will make replaying the game slightly less obnoxious.

This is really selling it like a pretty standard cover shooter, I dunno.

On the bright side, I didn't even notice the black bars, heh.

Comparing this to Ryse is like comparing Ryse to Uncharted. I guess the point you guys are trying to make though is that this will be a similarly vapid console launch window showpiece with minimally engaging combat interspersed between bloated interruptions?

Mmm, maybe. Ancient Rome is about 10 times more interesting than Steampunk Werewolves, but if this ends up closer to Uncharted, that'd still be better than Ryse.

I think it's to do with them revealing gameplay of a new franchise, developed on a new engine running on a new console...and yet they choose to show...Quick Time Events?
After all the speculation regarding new awesome physics, destructibility and whatnot, this reveal is kind of a letdown. The comparison to Ryse isn't far fetched. We can only hope we're wrong, otherwise this would just be great art design wasted on a dull game.

They barely showed any more gameplay than what was revealed in the gifs that were leaked earlier. The rest was just extra cutscenes.
I'm disappointed with this reveal, because we still haven't seen enough actual gameplay yet to make proper judgements.

Game looks ace. Now waiting when they show more of monsters and softbodyphysics.
I am going to go and release my fustrations somewhere else. Ciao.
Edit: God what a whiney bitch i came out. Lol.

Graphics look great. The gameplay looks pretty standard so far, but that doesn't mean it won't be good. Its just not overly exciting with what they've shown so far.

Where did all these armchair critics spring up from? What was shown was highly impressive, we still haven't seen how great the in game physics are, and how many objects and materials can be deformed, etc. These have been stated to be in the game engine, and will certainly push this game above others from last gen from a tech standpoint. The gunplay looks tight, contextual QTE's look rad, and the graphics are simply stunning.

To the guy that keeps saying 'this is Sony's Ryse'. Although you clearly seem pleased with yourself, you haven't made a substantial point, these games are nothing alike.

Graphics look really great, even from a 720p YouTube video. Gameplay from this video ....... eh, doesn't really hook me. Cover shooter + QTEs and "squeeze throughs." Hoping to see something more in the future

Looks ok, the visuals are incredible though. I really like the art style and setting. I actually enjoy cinematic games, but hopefully that corridor gets a little wider.

This is the official trailer released by Sony: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQzm9lwc2Tk

Notice: it's called a trailer.

The gameplay bits are from Playstation Magazine in the UK which obviously has a Sony slant but is not owned by Sony as far as I can tell. It's owned by this company: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Future_plc

Wow. Amazed how the cutscenes and the gameplay look identical.

I don't think they ready to blow their entire wad on this preview alone. Let's give them time to see how the rest of the game pans out. E3 is gun b good!

Only saw it on mobile, so won't comment much on graphics, I like the setting, but that this is their gameplay reveal is pretty worrying. How come they talk about the amazing soft body physics and then show nothing of the sort in the "reveal" which is basically nothing when it come to gameplay and that what was shown doesn't look interesting.

Not holding my breath at this point, this would have been one of the games that makes me get a next gen console but not if that is all they are going for.

I have given up complaining about this...we would make a petition with 1 million votes against QTE, to 10 for and still get them in games...sadly looks like its here to stay.

Yep, it's sad, but at this point it's like bitching about pg-13 robocop and terminator. It's here to stay and the best we can do is support smaller dev teams that don't have the budget to fall back on "cinematic" and put their resources into gameplay.

Unless something new surfaces to change my mind, I'll wait until I can pick this up for $20 used somewhere (still waiting to get Tomb Raider for cheap as well).

I'm still interested but I'm not going to lie and say that my hype hasn't been deflated just a bit from these previews. I was hoping there was something unique to the gameplay, and QTE's weren't the first thing to come to mind. I actually don't mind them all too much, but it's definitely disheartening that every developer who claims to be trying to fuse games and cinema, seem unable to do so without relying on QTE's. If they nail the gunplay, then the QTE's won't detract from the game, but if it's a Ryse like situation, where the overall gameplay is less than satisfactory... then that'll certainly suck :( Hopefully they do though, because as I've said in previous threads, out of all the AAA single player experiences announced for consoles right now, this and Quantum Break are among the most interesting IMO. Hopefully Ready at Dawn pulls this off, because it's pretty clear they have the talent to be a marquee studio.

Edit: Just watched that daily motion video, and graphically this game is unreal. They definitely nailed that cinematic look. But the gunplay looks a tad bit slow and janky :( Hopefully the additions of the subhuman enemies add a bit more variety.

Ill patiently wait till E3 for an actual Blowout. Haven't seen any of the different weapons or enemies to fight yet, or even any of the tech that they are using for the game. The trailer was nice though, wish we could've had more!

I don't see why some people are defaulting to "QTEs = game will have them over and over again" and "this game will be boring because of the 2 minutes that I saw"

We still need to see more footage, but from what I saw, I noticed how interesting the dialogue will be in the campaign, the voice acting is excellent (I was worried with the reveal trailer that it wouldn't be good), and the interactive cutscenes are going to be really neat.

I'm still hyped but I'm assuming the E3 gameplay demo will be fantastic and we still haven't seen the hybrids in action.

Also, this gameplay reveal is from very early in the game, so there is much more we haven't seen.

I'm excited about this game. Nothing I saw gives me negative impressions. ESPECIALLY knowing how far it is from release still. People nitpicking at things that WEREN'T even shown yet seems crazy to me.

This is an early preview. I'm hopeful still.

Don't be like that, dude. Criticism is okay and most people seem to be disappointed by the length of the gameplay shown not the quality.

What I'm seeing is that most people are harping on this TPS for being a TPS. I don't quite get it.

I don't think I ever will.

Great graphics and an interesting, mysterious premise, but I'm not completely sold on it yet, especially as it lacks co-op, when it looks a prime candidate for such a mode. If the gameplay matches the look though, I'll buy a PS4 for it.

Come on man, you understand how maketing works. It''s common sense that, that was amonst the best completed gameplay they had.
It's common knowledge this game has fights with supernatural creatures. It's also obvious RAD are deliberately not showing us these. Whether that's the right call or not is up for debate, not whether there's more to show.

I think the game looks awesome. I can't wait to play it. I am glad I preordered it. The game seems highly impressive. The graphics are better than anything shown for the PS4 so far. Just incredible.

It seems like it is rendering a lot more than merely the small corridor though. For instance here:

That really isn't much more. Look at the geometry. It's really just a couple of houses thats on display. I know the view covers a lot of "ground", meaning we are seeing far. But we aren't seeing much. The houses in the far distance can literarely be constructed from 500 triangles and still look really good with that fog and distance. Seeing several duplicated assets too.

I use this trick a lot when I design environments for my customers; make the view cover a lot of ground without actually using up a lot of geometry.

I'm irritated at the lack of gameplay shown, the graphics on a technical level look fine, aesthetically however im not amazed.

Why are people saying this based on 10 seconds of gameplay footage?
Also, what exactly people are expecting?
It's a Tps... it's supposed to be like that.

Even the graphics, it looks gourgeous but you can't assume the rest of the game is going to look jst as good or better or worse.

I'm hyped for this, but I didn't like this trailer. Not because of the gameplay, but because it's not a single segment of someone playing it. Even Final Fantasy XV didn't have so many cuts.

I have given up complaining about this...we would make a petition with 1 million votes against QTE, to 10 for and still get them in games...sadly looks like its here to stay.

Well, let's look at the alternative, which is much more limited scenes. Without the action multiplier that the QTE is, you're limited to common actions and at best combination strings. Unless you're saying that you could actually pull off the typical QTE action in realtime with thumbsticks and buttons... well, I'm not buying that.

When we have full body, 1:1 VR and at this quality level, then people can start complaining about QTE. Of course, people probably wouldn't appreciate having to perform all badass moves in 1:1...

no..he is right..one thing is criticism but the amount of salt of some of the comments.is fucking incredible

and about the tech

pls show me one game..just one game on any system..with better graphics than this..im waiting

It's still too little footage for me to judge on whether or not this game will be good or bad.

The premise and ideas have me really intrigued. Just not enough gameplay shown yet for me to really have a strong opinion on.

The graphics of BF4 are a lot more impressive, especially considering the huge scale, the great draw distance and the much, much higher character count.

Next they just need to show the gameplay opening up a bit. Can't really judge it much based on 1 alleyway with no room for flanking or movement of any kind.

Same boat. Like the qte in this as well. We'll have to wait until e3 for a full demo there. Cracks me up people think they'll show 20 minutes of gameplay that's at least 6 months out.

Show me the receipts. When I get to see this stuff, maybe I'll be excited about it, but this game was announced eight months ago and the only gameplay footage we have is this:

My Hype Train doesn't leave the station on the strength of written previews and interviews. Right now I have a couple of Hype Engineers on a smoke break, ready to start shovelling coal into the Hype Boiler if the need arises, but I see no need to give them the signal yet.
