Looks good, plays like crap
Oh, you already played it? Can we get some more impressions?

Well, let's look at the alternative, which is much more limited scenes. Without the action multiplier that the QTE is, you're limited to common actions and at best combination strings. Unless you're saying that you could actually pull off the typical QTE action in realtime with thumbsticks and buttons... well, I'm not buying that.
When we have full body, 1:1 VR and at this quality level, then people can start complaining about QTE. Of course, people probably wouldn't appreciate having to perform all badass moves in 1:1...
Eh I don't know what "trick" you're referring to but the footage clearly shows a good number of unique structures in the distance. I'm gonna need you to point out all this duplicate geometry. That really isn't much more. Look at the geometry. It's really just a couple of houses thats on display. I know the view covers a lot of "ground", meaning we are seeing far. But we aren't seeing much. The houses in the far distance can literarely be constructed from 500 triangles and still look really good with that fog and distance. Seeing several duplicated assets too.
I use this trick a lot when I design environments for my customers; make the view cover a lot of ground without actually using up a lot of geometry.

The graphics of BF4 are a lot more impressive, especially considering the huge scale, the great draw distance and the much, much higher character count.
Honestly, I'd rather a quick curb stomp each and every guy that didn't go down from a thorough shooting and move on than wait for a slow mo prompt to pop up and then watch a "bad ass" moment unfold again in slow mo. Nothing takes me out of a game quicker than waiting around for it to be my turn to control the character again.
Repetition is fine if done correctly.
? Is this necessary.
People should be allowed to express their lack of interest in a game without being pigeon holed into some fantasy war between video game consoles.
The game looks good visually, but gameplay wise it looks very 'safe', and I was hoping for more with the big next gen titles.
What I'm seeing is that most people are harping on this TPS for being a TPS. I don't quite get it.
I don't think I ever will.
It's a Tps... it's supposed to be like that.

Certainly
I find it incredibly disturbing some here are already judging the game based on like 20 seconds or less of gameplay footage.
Just blows my mind.
I wasn't aware the Order 1886 was only 2 minutes in length.
I don't get your point. They are rendering more than a few houses as can be seen in the scene with the telescope, there is zero point in rendering stuff in the distance at full fidelity (no games do otherwise). You said that the game was only rendering a corridor with a few characters, you were wrong. Whether the explorable enviroments are expansive or not is another matter not addressed here. I expect it to be like Uncharted, gears of war, and all these other tps in this aspect, just with more next gen sheen.
You must have missed the reaction many
had when I called it out, 8 hours later I was right, guess many didnt expect the
QTE.
when its obvious cinematic driven games like this will have you doing that, so you wont be standing there looking at a scene they script, you will be interacting with it.
Yes but people have played Titanfall. Why are you even mentioning it here?Just re-quoting this for the sake of people who don't like Titanfall. Just saying. This whole thread is a reflection of that contradiction.
Just seems like an all round poor way to (essentially) reveal your game, really. They've spoken about mysterious halfbreeds, destructible environments, and interesting weapons, then show footage of the player mowing down freedom fighters in an alleyway with a vanilla-as-fuck rifle. I don't get it, and it's definitely lowered my expectations a fair bit.
The most exciting part of today's reveals has been the final 10 seconds of "The Pledge" trailer, and hopefully that (horror) represents the core part of this game. It'd be a shame if that smoky, ominous atmosphere was put to waste on encounters like they showed today.
It's common knowledge this game has fights with supernatural creatures. It's also obvious RAD are deliberately not showing us these. Whether that's the right call or not is up for debate, not whether there's more to show.
Can anyone provide a direct link to a video that's not YouTube and butchered by low bitrate?
You guys might have a case replacing "TPS" with "low mobility cover shooter", but otherwise, no.
Not in the same universe Vanquish exists, anyway.
People are judging on what the developers decided to show, what is wrong with that?
It happens all the time, it's not a GAF thing
You've played it? Awesome!Looks good, plays like crap
Lol, gotta love it.Serious damage control in here.
They're not purposefully showing the game in a bad light. Previews imply the game is currently a bit wonky. So chances are it was up there.
Well when they show something more impressive than those 2 not-so-impressive 2 minutes, then I'll be more impressed of course!!
Why should I be impressed by something based on an assumption that it might be more impressive later?
I said that the graphics and engine doesn't impress me much because it hasn't showcased that it can render more than a few characters and quite simplistic and sparse geometry. I was shown a shot with 2 characters and more simplistic and sparse geometry as a counter proof, and then I pointed out that while the draw distance is longer, it is STILL a case of simplistic and sparse geometry and still very few characters. Get it?
The funny thing is that when people get excited over 20 second clips, no one ever complains that they are judging it too soon
Don't like the gameplay I've seen much at all, and things like the reloading animation stood out as disappointing. Not bad, but certainly nothing I'd spend 60 bucks on. Graphics are good, but it's 30fps so I'm not shocked or anything. I'll forget about them before the game even releases. Hope the mechanics can stand on their own, and QTE isn't heavily relied upon.
.....my head hurts. The impressions these videos create is that this game will be PS4's Ryse.
Hope they prove that wrong at E3.
The worst part of that they didn't show anything that they've been talking about for the last while. No showing of destructibility, nothing of the half-breeds, no glimpse of the unique weaponry, and not a single look at the CSI shit. The trailer also had a real horror vibe towards the end that was completely unseen in the gameplay.
They really seemed to miss the mark on this'blowout', but since it won't be releasing for quite some time, it's not like they don't have the chance to wow us again, even if some GAF users would have you believe this game is DOA.
