Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

Someone needs to mod MKWii and replace DK's voice with that of the cartoon. One needs to know how well this works.

Donkey Kong had a beautiful singing voice in his Mario Kart 64 days.

I agree with sah that it's nice to see more of that stage. Looks like it transforms a bit, since it usually has letter blocks and stuff.

I'm assuming the puppy will roll into it, damaging the stage.

Also, when viewed on the 3DS, the characters don't look as small as they do here. Look rather big, compared to how this shot looks on your computer/mobile screen.

Thanks for the insight as I am too lazy to get my 3ds out and see. Yeah, the puppy does seem like a likely hazard now that you mention it. Should be cool

GIF OF THE DAY

captain falcon

they need to confirm him for smash 4 already

So nice. I never tried the up throw down tilt before. I need to practice my shffling with falcon.

Pic of the day. This Bulborb is huge… Wait, no, the playable characters are small. The Smash Bros. series doesn't always stay true to scale.

The point is not that we're seeing that Smash isn't true to scale. The point is that he's explicitly referencing the fact that Smash isn't true to scale. He does have a slight tendency to be sneaky, after all. I think there's certainly something there to state a case, although I certainly wouldn't regard it as a certainty.

How can you prefer the SMW voice to this adorableness!?
See, that's my beef with Yoshi. Back in the SNES days, Yoshi wasn't cute: he was just plain old cool. His design appealed exactly to what kids of the 90s were into: all-devouring, sometimes flying, sometimes fire-breathing dinosaur/dragon thingy. You know it's true.

Then Yoshi Story came along, and the character became this squeaky baby thing. Which was fine for that game and its childish presentation, but I want proper weird sneezy sound Yoshi back.

You mean like on the day of the Luigi reveal (6 months ago) when Pic of the Day 1 was:

Pic of the day. Two that are actually not so tall. Kirby's about 8 inches high, Captain Olimar maybe a little over an inch.

You all should have learnt from the Brawl Dojo that Sakurai has an odd sense of humour and that his comments can literally boil down to what he thinks is funny at the time rather than being a cryptic clue of what is to come.

OH MY GOD

Given that the story of the original Super Smash Bros was that a child was playing with his Nintendo toys scale should matter less. . .

Will the stuffed Pikmin from E3 will be appearing as giants!?.

It's possible that I missed the boat on that "zomg dinosaurs/dragons" thing, haha. I liked Yoshi well enough on SMW, but it was really the undeniably adorable Yoshi's Story version that really made me love him and made him feel memorable as a character.
I mean, you're almost obligated to drop Yoshi into the abyss in order to make certain jumps in SMW. But his voice is so cute in Yoshi's Story that no sane person could ever bring him/herself to do such a thing! I think that the voice upgrade is a large part of why so many people really fell in love with Yoshi as a character.

I found some cool Smash-related comics on Pixiv: Link

Unfortunately they're only Japanese. I wish I knew what they said.

It's pretty good. Like you see in the gif, it works better at higher percents (I think it's around 80?) Earlier on it's hard to really followup. I think up throw f-smash works in a similar range, maybe slightly later.

The run up -> do nothing after the first dtilt in the gif is great though, always fun to see that kind of thing.

While I 100% agree, it's still fun to IMAGINE he's trolling us about future reveals.

WALUIGI

(pic)

I should be studying :'(

Yes, this is good. Side B should really be Mario Party related, though. Maybe throwing a Dice block that knocks people back more based on how high the number on the block is when it connects?

Or miscellaneously throwing sports equipment.

You just wanted a convenient excuse to post a .gif from the new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer didn't you

Yes. :C

You guys know Ridley will never be confirmed, right? I'd do a avatar bet that he's an unlockable secret character.

Why would they not reveal a character that is inevitably going to cause a lot of hype? The only hidden newcomers that were in Brawl were the 3rd parties (who were revealed prior to release), as well as ROB, Wolf and Lucario, as well as the update from Young to Toon Link. All other hidden characters were characters we already knew about from prior installments.
And guess what - 2 of those former hidden characters have already been revealed.
Plus several of the "classic" hidden characters (Luigi, Marth, Toon Link) already have been confirmed as well.

I sincerely doubt the're going to not confirm Ridley, whether he is hidden or not.

While waluigi has primarily only been in the sports/party/kart games, I think he deserves to be his own character and NOT use moves from those games, but that's just me. I wish peach didn't have sports related attacks, but whatever.
