I meant that women are fare more likely to underestimate themselves in appearance, and men tend to overestimate how they appear to others.

In my current state, I would honestly say a 4 or 5.

If I hit the gym a little more, started dressing a little nicer and just in general started taking better care of myself, I like to think I would jump up to a 7 or 8.

I don't like my body weight or that I'm balding, so I'm downgrading myself to a 6. Although interestingly this does not affect my self confidence in the dating scene at all, because the world has thankfully shown me there are plenty of people I fawn over who want to bang me.

About a 6. Kinda cute, slim but a bit short, nice ass. I could hit 8 if I worked out, would probably need dental work to hit a 9. My height (5'7") would probably keep me from 10 in a lot of ladies books.

Still, everybody is attractive to somebody, and everybody is unattractive to somebody.

Thanks and I already explained that I know that a lot of people rate me higher, but that is irrelevant to how much I would rate another guy who looked exactly like me (i.e. While I might be a very good match for someone's prefered "type", I don't do very well when put against what I personally find attractive in other men)... I imagine this can be a very different thought experiment depending on the sexual orientation of the person answering.

Fortunately, I'm married, and she's alright with how I look (there are some things about me she doesn't care for - but, for the most part anyway), so, I'm good.

While I might not go as low as 1 I'm close enough IMO . Luckily I married up looks-wise so we have kids who are easily 8s, and for some reason she's attracted to me so it's all good. Life is funny.

You probably have to account for both kinds of criteria to eliminate bias or something.
