Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

I was with you until you dropped an ultra specific date.

It's Nintendo day. They always release a big/biggest game of the year on or around that date.

It's usually the Sunday before Thanksgiving, but now it looks like they release games on Fridays instead of Sundays. I'm almost certain Smash will be in that spot this year, unless they've got some crazy surprise planned.

The twin rocketbarrels are back, now with the ability to launch along more horizontal trajectories. They can also come off when opponents hit them mid-boost.

More things for competitive smashgaf to talk about. which is good

spring ends june 20th

we have mario kart's release date, which is may 31st

we don't even have a release MONTH for smash

there isn't a chance in fuck smash drops in spring, or summer. November 21th.

You crazy Americans with your seasons ending halfway through months...

May 31st is the last day of autumn down here.

I definitely think the stage to represent Miis (if they are in it) would have to be Wii Sports. For me that makes the most sense considering how important that game is to Nintendo and the casual audience.

Well Mii Quest on 3DS is already confirmed and the Pilotwings stage is semi Wii Sports as well since they share the same location.

Not only did they buff Diddy's range, they also buffed his recovery?

Awww yisssss. He's coming back with a vengeance son.

The buff sound very good but I wonder that meant vertical recovery might be nerfed to make the recovery to ledge little harder like Melee. Brawl, most of moves were over the top easy to recovered back to ledge like Pit, Diddy, Metaknight, etc.

Remember they adjusted the way Pit's take off flight as well.

Well, it made sense since Sakurai said that he want every characters feel powerful in the games so players would feel good when they land specific attacks such as falcon punch.

Quite disappointed with any lack of update to Diddy's design. No TF backpack, still has DK64 jet packs. Heck, the model looks like it's straight from brawl

Peanut gun and jet pack have to be included for one reason:

The DK Rap would make no sense otherwise.

That's right sunshines, it's gonna return as the DK Opera!

Woah woah, little mac is smaller than diddy kong? Or is that some weird perspective. I knew he was small, but it was hard to tell until this picture.

Oh man, I could totally imagine a great composer hired for smash to re-do the DK rap in the most spectacular of ways. Woud listen, 10/10.

I'm thinking September, personally. Could be wrong, but I think Nintendo will announce other games at E3 that will come out in holiday (couldn't tell you what though).

Man, these shoes are all awful. Mainly just how they all have these bizarre heels that jut out the back, there's no way you could comfortably walk in these.

Someone after falling asleep waiting for the update, I had my first Smash 4 dream. The full roster list was leaked like Brawl's, but it was an incredible disappointment. There were only two other newcomers and no other returning veterans aside from who has been revealed already. The only newcomers were Ridley and Kakashi from Naruto. (I blame the past Naruto discussion on that one.) Strangely, Ridley looked normal, except his eyes were bugging out the whole time.

I at least hope the Ridley part comes true, minus him pulling a Judge Doom.

I would like to mention that I really enjoying to see many playable franchises that Sakurai have been bringing to our attention in Smash 4. I really hope that he would continuing to make more stages for unrepresented series.

Playable Characters' franchises:
Super Mario Bros.
Donkey Kong
Legend of Zelda
Pokemon
Metroid
Kirby
Star Fox
Fire Emblem
Pikmin
Kid Icarus
Animal Crossing
Wii Fit
Punch-Out
Mega Man
Sonic

Playable Stages' franchises:
Super Smash Bros
Nintendogs
Pilotwings
StreetPass Quest

So far, we have 19 playable franchises which is a good thing for hardcore nintendo fans like us who would like to see franchises being touched by Sakurai.

For a reference: Super Smash Bros Brawl only have 23 franchises that are being represented in term of playable characters and stages. See that we didn't get any confirmed Ice Climbers, F-Zero, Earthbound, Yoshi and WarioWare representative yet but the franchises numbers will kept climbing up. Here is a hope for many more untouched franchises that can be represented by somehow; such as Steel Diver, Golden Sun, Duck Hunt, Sin and Punishment, Eshop Titles, etc.

This game's definitely poised for a summer release. It already feels like they've revealed an absurd amount of the roster - if they continue showcasing characters at two per month, by late August they'll have 36 announced combatants. The alternative is a cessation on unveilings, which is a hype-killer.

The other day I was thinking, since this is Sega's second Smash Brothers appearance, how would people feel if Dr. Eggman was playable in his Egg Walker? Like a heavier character with a lot of weapons and such.

I mean, dude's probably the most recognizable video game bad guy behind Bowser (and maybe even more so in some circles), plus he's awesome.

not gonna happen, the third party guest stars will only be the main characters of their series.

Besides, as cool as it'd be to have Eggman, I'd actually prefer Tails, with heavy inspiration from Tails Adventures. Bomb-throwing, hammer-bopping, giant Death Star Imperial Trooper helmet-shielding...

Well, it made sense since Sakurai said that he want every characters feel powerful in the games so players would feel good when they land specific attacks such as falcon punch.

Mostly irrelevant, cause it doesn't have much to do with what you were talking abount in your post, but I keep hearing people bring up this interview, but could never find it. Finally found it and:

"“Rather than directly weakening an attack’s advantageous parts, we’re putting effort into keeping them strong, while adding other weaknesses to them. Like giving the attacks punishable openings, or weakening the character’s mobility or recovery rate. We’re making comprehensive adjustments to characters, even for parts that might seem completely irrelevant.”

- due to the differences in gameplay, some attacks like Captain Falcon’s “Falcon Punch” might work well when there’s more players, but might not ever hit during a 1-on-1 fight"

Doesn't seem to me like it was Sakurai who brought the Falcon Punch himself, but the interviewing just giving an example.

http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=219667

Its not that I doubt that Falcon will be in, since I am practically 100% sure he will be in the game, but just saying that this interview doesn't "confirm" him.

Just some nitpicking.

Normally I would say "ok now let's not get too greedy here. Sonic is enough"

...BUT PLAYABLE EGGMAN

DAY 1

I can't wait for gafs reaction when Ridley is revealed as an assist trophy.

Most of us will just be happy to see him be included. The same would be the case for (sane) Palutena supporters.

I foolishly have enough faith in humanity to believe that the backlash with Ashley is exclusive to her creepy little cult.

...BUT PLAYABLE EGGMAN

DAY 1

If Snake isn't coming back I think I'd be okay with him as a second Sonic rep like this.

I can't wait for gafs reaction when Ridley is revealed as an assist trophy.

Well most of SmashGAF seems to either not want him playable (with quite a vocal group of people vehemently arguing against his inclusion at every possible point), not care about him or absolutely not expecting him to be playable.

I would think that Ridley not being playable would be received by most of SmashGAF with joy or simple resignation.
