C'mon guys, really cant understand why everyone is talking that PS4 will fail because "haz no g4m3z" when the first year PS2 games arent that relevant... i think that PS4 can sell even more games than this (can be wrong).
In the end, PS2 sold a lot in Nippon 1st year because the DVD player... this top 15 sales isnt that impressive.

I had no idea... makes me wonder how much the 3DS would have sold if it had launched with its price-cut price.
That's because the Japanese market has changed a lot since the PS2 era, and Japanese player seem to have moved away from console gaming (favoring handhelds and smartphones). It's too early to say either way, but one thing's for sure : we're never gonna see PS2 levels of sales ever again, not for consoles.
One day left to say if you think PS4 will perform like the 3DS/WiiU or like the Vita.
Performance comparison after the launch week:

By that list, PS2 has an amazing first year line up comparing to what we know of PS4 first year line up right now. It really "haz no gamez" if you think PS2 line up is bad.

Eh a considerable amount of them are regulars and I didn't even check the entire MC thread so there may be even more. Perhaps it was a stretch it call them all sales GAF.

That would be interesting to see, indeed. The 25k yen price for the 3DS is also the main reason why there were more positive predictions regarding the Vita in the very begining, since then both the 3DS and the Vita were both at 25k yen (well, the Vita wasnt out yet when Nintendo dropped the 3DS price, but Sony had already announced the Vita price before this).

If we take out blind fanboys from both sides that you can't have a serious discussion with and those who now had their first touch with Japanese market because of PS4 launch those who visit these threads should know by now that launch sales are important but not definitive for the future of a system.
3DS, Vita, Wii U all struggled after first weeks suffering from the software drought. When launch hype dies we 'll see if PS4 sales are respectable, mediocre or bad. Everything else is shortsided view.

You mistake me. I am not making fun of any them. I am just showing the underestimation. I said this in the other thread. The only people that should be feeling stupid are the ones that jumped to crazy conclusions about the Ps4 launch and how it bombed (not anyone in this thread iirc) after seeing some PS4's on a shelf.

I think some of us were also overly influenced by recent anecdotal evidence (empty lines, etc) and negativity regarding the PS4's future in Japan. If memory serves, we already had evidence that the PS4 was hyped there, polls and such. We should have known that launch sales would be good. There's still going to be hype-fueled customers looking for a PS4 in a week as well.
