Infamous Second Son has gone gold

Gameplay wise it's not supposed to be much different from the previous Infamous games. That's a bit sad. I'm still hoping for some new innovative gameplay mechanics on next gen. Aside from singleplayer & online mixed together.

What do developers do when a game has gone gold? All night drinking binge? Some time off? Always been curious what happens.

Some take some time off. Some stark working on DLC or Patches. Some start working on the next project or brainstorm.
I remember some NaughtyDog behind the scenes where they talked about how they have weeks after finishing a game and everybody can just be creative and draw and write some ideas down.

edit:
What happened to Shinobi? I know he got banned but I missed what for. I hope he's back soon.
He decided to leave gaf and asked for his account to be permed.

I loved inFamous 1 and 2 and I am expecting that with better cutscenes and better graphics.

I think the rest of the world is expecting the first true next-gen game in everything from gameplay up and it will probably suffer a pretty huge backlash when it comes out. Oh well, not gonna enjoy it any less for other people's expectations.

Yeah, the gameplay doesn't look like anything special to me. It's pretty though

He just had a baby and retired.

Shinobi tribute.

Usually vacation but there are also some that stay to make sure nothing is set on fire (or work on patches) or working on additional content (DLC) if it is scheduled after the milestone. A lot of guys get to do pre-vis for the next project/dream projects while others learn new tools, write internal post-mortems, internal workflow/tutorials. We did an internal game-jam.

Probably not the right thread for this but I still don't really get what kind of game this is. All I know is it's a pretty looking game and is open world Seattle and you are some guy with super powers.

Is it like GTA style open world or is it more like Assassins Creed style? Or something different?

I don't have a PS4 yet, but I've got the gift cards built up for one, just waiting for a game to be released to get it. This game intrigues me, but I just don't know a whole lot about it or it's past games. I don't have a PS3 and don't plan on getting one to play the previous games either so how much will that effect my enjoyment of this one?

Basically all I know about it is that you're some dude with super powers in Seattle and for the main story line you fight against what looks like military guys. Which sounds fun and all but what is the open world stuff you can do? Do you get vehicles or is it all running around? Are there side quests, or side things you can do besides the main mission or both? I guess I'm asking is Seattle your playground or is it just the setting?
Ok:

1.The game is open world like GTA
2.You dont drive cars you use your powers to get around, like the smoke dash and neon running
3.The game has side missions
4.The game gives you stuff to collect as well.

It's a third person shooter with some melee action. The shooting part is GTA. The mission variety is not as good as in GTA games.

You have some territorial conquering that you do by doing side missions. That part is like AC2.

It's mission based, but instead of having an A->B progression like a linear game you have them be set in the open world. The missions are like standard fare, the moment to moment gameplay makes the difference.

[...]and for the main story line you fight against what looks like military guys[...]

Loudninja already answered your post, but I just wanted to highlight this and point to Infamous 2 and say without spoiling anything that there's probably much more to the enemies, Sucker Punch has just kept a lot about this game under wraps.

Yeah I think we are going to be pleasantly surprise.

like infamous, loved infamous 2.........and going to love SS. I can already smell reviews in the 6-7 range though because its going to be bashed for not having insanely new gameplay (despite other games such as titanfall being a rehashed call of duty with mechs, and being multiplayer only will get 10's across the board.)

But those reviews are not going to stop my train, I am hyped as hell for this game and will platinum it to worlds end!

What we do on our iOS games: Start working on updates.

Some AAA projects have 'live teams' that they put in charge of the game while the team rests for a couple of weeks.

No day/night cycle is no buy from me. I lambasted Fortza for it so I cant be a hypocrite. Enjoy possibly the first really good game for this system so far.

My fav:

Man I wish we had more gameplay/impressions/maybe a demo for this game. I just have this gnawing feeling that it is going to be mediocre and fall a bit flat of our expectations.

Killzone ruined me with it's awfulness I guess :/

Well, let's hear some. I keep hearing about these new innovations for next gen...

It's an Infamous game, you have to by now know what you're getting yourself into.

Its sad how realistic this scenario actually is.
