Twitch Plays Pokemon Thread 3: Return of Red... Aussies win again!

The Elite Four went down so fast, damn.

And this whole thing altogether was only about 20 times slower than if a single person were playing. Pretty awesome.

Wasn't affected by this in the slightest.
Me neither because for me it just went:

POKEMON!
Nothing
Nothing

Also I hope they don't even bother with the democracy anarchy thing from the beginning. The beauty of the first run through was it developed its own narrative and that system was part of it. Gold/Silver/Crystal needs to develop its own trying to avoid as much influence from the Red narrative as possible.

Yep, add the really sloooooooooow pace at battles... It's a kind boring to watch...

Hopefully, anarchy reigns Silver/Crystal game tomorrow... :D

Edit: TvTropres has a full recap of our history...

Holy shit. I remember when the game had 5k viewers and thinking that was insane. I just read all of that and still can't believe everything what was accomplished by 100k+ monkeys typing at the same time.

Of all the weirdly entertaining things that appeared on twitch (vgcw, salty bet) this is by far the most bizarre and unbelievable.

Good job guys and congratulations.

There was something about the final elite 4 run that felt so.... Anticlimactic to me. Maybe it just went by so quick without many hitches? Maybe we relied on battery Jesus too much and our lower party members didnt get their chance to shine?

I don't know. Maybe I just didn't want it to end....

Is there a way to trade Red's team over to gen II?

If we play through the entirety of G/S it'll takes ages... Two regions, 16 gym leaders, more event encounters.

Yep (TBG Dual), but all the magic is lost in the process... Fresh start is better (possibly a chance to fight Red with that team on Mt. Silver)...

If the guy running this circus somehow sets Red up with the Twitch team I will die happy

Yes well a level 80 Zapdos rips through the E4 like it's nothing so there was no suspense at all, that was to be expected after all of those attempts.

I'm also a Bulbasaurian in my free time.

NOOO
NOOOOOOOO

I missed it
I fucking missed it

What all happened, who gave the final blows, how did get past each E4 member, and how long were we stuck at certain ones, etc.

EDIT: Still 2nd place on wall of shame
Set way too large of a lead I guess

We're waiting until gen 4 glaceon and we are going to like it.

Sufficient amounts of ice wipes away the dome influence.

Meanwhile, I think the amber was playing us. BEWARE THE MAREEP

And of course it happens in the hours where I'm sleeping.

Still, major damned kudos to making professors disappoint in their grandsons, guys.

Figures they finally won after I was unable to manage to stay awake anymore. Thanks WillyFive for the video! Man, so many things going right in a row it feels like some sort of miracle. I'm glad to have been a part of something big, even in a small way. Congratulations to everyone who had a part in this, either directly through pressing buttons or indirectly through fan-creations and commentary! Hoping people ride the wave through Gen 2 as I'm now in a mood to relive past games. I wonder how far momentum will take us. Looking forward to the Red battle at the end of the next game, especially if the team ends up being customized with our final team.

Reservations about going into Gen 2.

  • Will we be able to receive as much fan-art?
  • Will people try to force a narrative?
  • Will everyone be so wise to the way the game plays that a story cannot even be created because we will never go near a PC again?
  • Will the narrative be the same but replaced with different sprites?
  • Will players try to force the last narrative onto this game?
  • Will there be less viewers? The same? More?
  • Will we choose Chikorita?

We will have to beat misty again. I know that much.

The real question is whether we'd give up going past Misty a second time... The amount of time we spent in Cerulean.... crazy.

Fake :p

Well, there is 0.000000000000001/100 chances of this happening though.
But there is too much nicknames beginning with an uppercase letter to be true.
Twitch automatically capitalizes the first letter in a username while the other parts of the username will not have capitalized letters.

Aw, I knew I'd be sleeping when the big moment arrived. Still, congratulations to the team. This has been a lot of fun to watch develop the past few weeks. Would have been really nice to see Pidgegod deal the final blow.

Didn't catch it live, but I'm glad the team pushed through. That team was really like a cobbled up version of the A-Team.

From the TVTropes article:

Now that Zapdos and Omastar are part of the team, the Mob has settled on a final team to beat the Elite Four with: Omastar, aaabaaajss, AA-j, AAAAAAAAAA, AIIIIIIRRR, and AATTVVV. The fandom describes them as:

A God, a Messiah, an Angel, a King, a Prince, and an All Terrain Vehicle.

:lol

I hope Nintendo puts a tip of the hat, no matter how small, to TPP in their next mainline Pokemon game.
