Lol I'm playing black 2 and at one point I seriously considered three bugs for my final team. Only going with galvantula now though since volcarona comes too late and it would be a bitch to get a tinted lens venomoth with only black and black 2

You can get a Lv.30 Volcarona just before the 3rd Gym in B2/W2 IIRC.

As for Flareon: With one spot left on the team, we needed a surf pokemon in the party and had a hard time deciding whether to get a Vaporeon or the free Lapras at the Silph Co. Eevee was blamed ( later evolved into its true form, Flareon ) and the lore kept evolving around Flareon being a False Prophet, an agent of the Dome Fossil sent to ruin things for us.

LOL, to be honest I'm just baffled people made past the first town. What's the deal with the fossils? I see it a lot in fan art with some oddly religious fanart.

The fossils are found in Mt Moon. You have to chose between the Helix Fossil and the Dome Fossil, and later it can be resurrected into either Omanyte or Kabuto.

We picked the Helix Fossil, and because its an item that cannot be tossed away it was consistently selected over and over again in the item menu, during battles and otherwise. This led to the meme of us 'consulting the Helix Fossil' whenever and wherever ( though there were other candidates as well ) . Also, because the Helix Fossil is what it is, there was an inherent resurrection prophecy surrounding it. Once or twice we accidentally stored the Helix Fossil in the PC, which was followed by superstition that things would go bad if we left it there. Cue the cries of rejoice whenever we got it out of there. And of course, we resurrected Omanyte as well, which made people go nuts every time it was used in battle.

Well, thats the gist of it anyway.

People starred calling an of the unusable items 'god' in mt moon because we would constantly try and use them/"consult" them. We tossed the moon stone a nugget, but because the helix fossil can't be tossed, and the stream gain a lot of popularity around the time, it stuck.

Then we ended up with people hyperboleing every little thing, to the point a grand methos was crafted.
 
When the next run starts, let's not decide what gets to me a popular thing in the community and what doesn't.

The last thing I want to see is another "genwunner" situation where people hate anything that's not the original. Let's let things fall where they may, and it'll be good for all of us.

Venemoth is 4'11(almost as big as Zapdos and bigger than the Nidoking)
