Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

I would absolutely love shulk as a character, xenoblade is a wonderful game and worth the large price I paid for it at gamestop. A would like a stage taking place on the
fallen arm
o you can see bionis and mechonis in the background

All aboard the nairplane! Neeeeaoowwwwww!

Look at all those sexkicks. And that's not even all of them, some characters have them as FAir or BAir too :P

Judging by Wario's moveset in Brawl and Snake's Codec conversation with the Colonel, Sakurai totally forgot that Wario Land existed.

Don't worry, PM fixed all of that. Seriously, I liked Wario before, but PM just made his character make so much more sense.

A motorcycle? Whyyy? The dude has been shoulder-charging since 1994.

Negative points will come in the future once the game got released to public. I'm only counting those confirmed characters for now.

I realised I already lost :( I thought Lucario would get cut. No idea why in retrospect. But revisiting it also made me remember a character I'd really like in;

I'd like at least one eShop rep... Dillon, Mallo, the Denpa Men, any will do.

Eh, I don't know, guy with a musical note for a sword is pretty cool. Also, you could add a cool little rhythm mechanic to his moveset.

The kid from Harmoknight (don't know his name) would be the next best choice, and potentially more interesting from a moveset standpoint.

But dammit, Dillon's Rolling Western has such a cool aesthetic, one that deserves better games than it gets.

I really thought Dillon was going to be a desert Zelda, and it felt like it for a little bit. I really wanted to like it, but it was just soo repetitive. I've said constantly though the guy seems pretty much made for Smash.

I don't really think this is a factor. We have a Pikmin 3 stage and a Sonic Lost World stage.
On top of these,
both Olimar &
Sonic have designs closer to the games mentioned (granted, Sonic had this design since Adventure, or touched-up in Unleashed,
but Olimar is obviously his Pikmin 3 incarnation
).

Dillon seems perfect to replace Sonic if Nintendo ever had a problem getting the rights to him
Nintendo & Sega are essentially best friends, now. I don't think getting the rights will be an issue, especially with the fact that Sega knows that letting Nintendo use Sonic in Smash is easy money.

Wow, yoshi doing work in original smash!

i don't so much have wanted newcomers as much as wanted fighting/playing styles. Give me a wrestler (hawlucha preferable) and a melee fighter with reach but that needs to keep his distance with either a staff or lance/javelin (yes i realize marth is a spacing character as well but i'm sick of sword users). Another magic user would be sweet ad well. While we're at it let's throw in a superior air fighter that struggles on the ground to be the anti-little mac. Fill in those fighting styles with whatever characters you see fit. :)

I'm the same except I'm the polar opposite regarding sword/blade using characters. My top most desired fighting styles would be:

- A swordsman based entirely or predominantly around eastern Iaijutsu/Battōjutsu
- A flail user. More specifically, I'd love someone who'd use a yo-yo for shenanigans; all of their normals, tilts and smashes should be yo-yo tricks.
- More offensive magicians. I want the Smash version of a Black Mage and a Red Mage. The former should be very over the top with tons of crazy gestures for casts and summons and have lots of disjointed magic to work with.
- A character that practices "Gun Kata". They'd have double tap moves that would fire projectiles after striking with melee blows and projectiles that would be influenced by other projectiles they possess.
- A speedy grappler or "judo" styled character
- Someone who fights with music/the power of rock/rhythm based timings
- More double or pair up characters with the mechanics I discussed with IntelliHeath in one of the older threads. I don't have the link but if someone would be nice enough to share it below, it'd seriously be appreciated.

Nah I was thinking Ridley's final smash will let out a scream that sends all players into a PTSD shock that paralyzes them all.

I thought his final smash would just make him even bigger and more buff ala Mega Bowser. He'll cover the whole stage and fight jigglypuff's final smash for dominion.

I got a question for all you dojo veterans, did sakurai talk about buffs and nerfs and specific character moves in dojo like he is doing now for smash 4?

I don't think he ever mentioned buffs/nerfs, but he has always talked about character moves and designs. Each update was very broad and covered a lot of stuff.

Each update with Miiverse focuses on one thing, but it isn't as detailed so it leaves us to find out what exactly things he mentioned does when we get the game. We don't know what Ashley does, what Skull Kid does, what the phantom is, and etc.

Interesting that Dixie has a showing and K. Rool doesn't... like he says on the site it's a small sample size, but I can't help but wonder what that says for the next DK newcomer's chances.

Captain Rainbow would be pretty awesome for an out-of-left-field choice too.

"Japan's" lol....

Should say "How some Japanese Smash Bros fans reacted to Little Mac's Reveal".

Anyways, here is something important to note by the author I guess.
For reference, the comments aren’t from just one place – I basically searched for リトルマック and スマブラ and pulled a few comments from a bunch of different sites.
Japan wants Waluigi. They're so mad at Sakurai.
His weird fanbase is global.

Buffs and nerfs as much as this time around? I'm going to say no.

The biggest things that come to mine are Bowser's updates saying something to the effect of "If you think Bowser is going to be the same as before, then you have another thing coming." Also he mentioned Bowser Bomb hits on the way up as well as down.

With Donkey Kong he explained how there was super armer on his big Gorilla Punch.

There are a few others as well, including outside of the Dojo he said on multiple occasions the theme of the game is on balance. I laugh when I think about it considering the final product. So while I do have a lot of hope for better balance this time around I'm not 100% convinced.

During Melee's development, Sakurai and Miyamoto talked about how Kirby was way too overpowered in 64 and was toned down and boy did they tone him down. Now though we haven't gotten word on anything being toned down(Aside from possibly Pit's Wings of Icarus), but instead things are being buffed up. Lucario, Donkey Kong, Link and Samus, these are clear examples of the buff happy nature Sakurai seems to be going through to make characters feel better and possibly hold their own with an extremely varied cast of characters. During the Brawl dojo I can't remember one update that talked about how much more powerful something or someone has become in the latest title. It really does seem like everyone will have something worthwhile that will allow them to keep up.

On the Japanese Miiverse. The majority of Little Mac's reactions were just like that.

Sakurai really took the western folks into account on this one and I am so glad!

This is the month!

i don't know why all that green appears in the gif when he makes contact but it's kinda awesome so i'm not gonna try to fix it

Buff him indeed.

I want to break those shields with flutter kicks again.

I think with these newcomers, Sakurai has shown that he understands the importance of covering as many different franchises as possible. If it's a somewhat major Nintendo franchise, it should be repped. That's probably why Little Mac is in it. Punch-Out was pretty much the last big, long-running series that didn't have a character.

Japan's most wanted (small sample size taken into account) list is so weird and then they have Shulk and Dixie and I'm all confused again. :lol

He did a lot, and in considerably more detail than a Miiverse comment afforded.

Thanks for the comments guys.

While reading the full sample of comments of lil mac this comment stuck out to me the most lol
He’s from Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out, right? Only middle-aged guys like me would know him

Didn't he say that the Namco devs have a hand in balancing this time around? And that he used to balance the characters alone for the most part?

I hope we get the most balanced Smash yet.
