"We're going to do paid DLC, we're also going to do free updates," Zampella told GameSpot. "There are things that we want in the game that we didn't get to ship in the final game. So we'll add private matches and things like that for free. There will be some paid DLC. We're going to do a season pass just because if you buy it up front, it's a deal. We're not going to do microtransactions. So a season pass is just buy it up front, and you get a better price."

Sounds good to me!

Titanfall if old

"There are things that we want in the game that we didn't get to ship in the final game"

Like the rest of the game maybe?

The game is not out yet and they allready know what there dlc is going to be.

Seems to be the norm now unfortunately. I remember AC4 announcing theirs like months in advance it felt. Was just a slap in the face

I'll wait and see how the first dlc looks before jumping on the season pass.

I hate this mentality that devs (publishers?) have. "Oh yeah we can't finish the game in time so we'll release a half baked game and add stuff later". Why don't you just release the game when it's finished instead?

I dont ever buy games that do this full priced, I wait till they hit the bargin bin or just buy them 2nd hand.

Big fucking surprise. However, I might actually do this one if I like the game enough.

There have been speculations back and forth, and on twitter they even said there won't be. We all knew it'll exist, but nice to have it confirmed. Might actually buy a season pass for once. Curious to see how much, and what bonus will be included.

Also, I do think it should have been included in the CE. Kinda makes me think it might have been a last minute decision.

I also searched and there were no threads about it being confirmed. If the thread gets locked -- that's fine.

I'd rather have an idea of what future content will be like. Much better that they set a goal well in advance than wait til the game is out and you've bought your season pass, only to hear that for the chunk of DLC you get a whole swathe of "awesome" eavesdropping missions!

Oh come on. What "rest of the game?"

I'm down for season passes, they save me some money on games where I know I'll play the DLC.

The game is not out yet and they allready know what there paid dlc is going to be.

Tinfoil hats aside, most developers have a rough outline of what their DLC will be before release. As studio assets finish up their work on the main game they begin to transition to DLC. If you don't know anything about your DLC until EVERYONE is done you run the risk of not having DLC for a year, and losing fanbase.

Because businesses have deadlines and dates to meet.

"While games like Call of Duty: Ghosts are continuing to work with what’s called a "Season Pass" for online play and downloadable content packs, Titanfall will not. Each DLC will have to be downloaded individually and paid for individually, each as they’re released over the coming months. As it was confirmed all the way back in June with Gamespot, the team isn’t planning on pushing any Day One DLC packs either."

"We want to make sure people understand we're not going to nickel-and-dime you with microtransactions, and we don't expect you to buy a game, put it in your console, and the first day get asked to spend more money for more content.

What you get on the disc is what you bought, and that's how we're going to do it." - Respawn Entertainment Producer Drew McCoy

Again, not really a suprise.. just the above this was news from 4 days ago and now this..

You have to. It's how SW development works.

Couldnt that be incorporated into the lore/story of the series? E.g. Lets release everything we should had released, not plan for dlc, strive for the highest quality. Then maybe after we release the game we can look into the lore and see what kind of dlc we could make without making the player feel ripped off. Rather then leaving things out on purpose.

Same. It has to be more of a last minute decision. You'd think for the $$ you're cashing out for CE that they would include the season pass.

releasing "complete" game may take more months in development, in which both publisher and developer asume more cost since they don't make income until the game is released, increasing the risk and making finnance harder, and probably might end up increasing the cost of the standar version to cover the additional expenses or to secure the additional revenue to investors.

I thought they specifically stated the opposite?

Can't wait till all games are early access...

You know, Season Passes are never really a "deal" since at least one piece of DLC is always going to be a stinker.

How the hell is this a "half-baked game?"

Curious how you got to that understanding.

It's the age-old DLC conundrum. If you don't release DLC and just say "the game is 100% finished the way we want it and no new content needs to be added" people complain because they want more. They want more story to play, more new maps to keep multiplayer going, more guns to try out, more fun to have. If you do release DLC to add on to the story or add more logevity to multiplayer people complain because "you didn't finish the game and are now charging for it."

So, which is it?

Fuck you EA. I won't buy it and I encourage people not to buy it.

Why?
