Twitch Plays Pokemon Thread 3: Return of Red... Aussies win again!

We lost Wooper? You guys actually convinced me with all the pics and gifs that I actually began to like Wooper. And you're telling me that its gone? Just like that? :(

I know.

Not easily. Getting all the stones require going back to previous trainers after they call saying they have the stone. Or I think there's another way but it requires showing someone certain Pokemon that we don't have (and probably can't easily find/catch/put in our party).

Eevee can evolve into Umbreon or Espeon without stones. Hopefully Espeon because it's a monster in Gen 2.

;-;
Cut down in its prime. Always smiling. Never complaining. When we went through some bad times, it'll give us that little grin to cheer us up as if to say "everything is going to be all right, we'll get through this". But now, now. Only tears for the fallen.

And if this were gen 3+, our teams could've revived him though water absorb

RIP Wooper: No arms, no spotlight time, yet always happy, smiling, and cheering us on

How did a pokemon get released? Why are they at a PC? I thought they were headed to drop Gator off at the daycare.

We had to deposit a pokemon first, which led to wooper release, and then some stuff

At least, even if LazrGAr comes back, he has a rival in Brian who can survive wild pokemon

I thought red was amusing the first time, mainly because it was something new, and people are insane. Now I just get annoyed watching people troll and purposely hold shit back just for the sake of "Lulz".

yeah, same here although I never watched the stream for more than 10 minutes, the only exceptions were when there was an important battle or something like that, and now with crystal I check the progress even less often

Recent tragedy's inspired some art.

Goodbye awkward but often well timed phonecalls from our first friend. If we fuckup at the ledge in blackthorn we should totally get his number again while we're traveling back through the region.

Our team is also devastated by recent losses

Even pokemon with next to no playtime are getting love for their brave sacrifices to protect gator.

click here since it's kinda long

Also holy shit I leave you guys alone to collect some art and now even more madness. Please save my sanity Helix

All this PC business. It's nauseating. We go in and out of centers like ten times every city we're in just to wrestle with it. Release Gator, deposit Gator, keep Gator, etc. It just goes on and on. Sometimes I almost wish we would release him just so the voices would stop...Oh god. Is this how AJ feels? :(

Joey's number was accidentally deleted earlier, i missed it on stream but caught the rather loud tumblr outcry about it.

... Irwin wants us to play doctor with him. I am not sure how to feel about that.

So our team right now is Pidgey (33), Gatr (45), Shuck Norris (15), and Eevee (25). Hoothoot still in the Daycare. Duke Smoochum, Love Bug, Raticate, Weezing, and apparently another Hoothoot in the PC.

Edit: Zubat's also in the Daycare

Releasing/boxing the team members all because of Feraligatr:

At least we have a not too bad team now. Pidgey is strong, and Eevee is bound to evolve soon and should hopefully develop once that happens. And Shuckle is a beast, so he oughtta grind easy if we pick a good spot. Plus the open spots are good for things like Celebi or whatever else we can find (preferably something that can learn Waterfall).

And we're failing. Got Hoothoot (30), dropped off Shuckle, then Eevee, now Ozzy (8).

...I think that works. Except Gatr's second in the party. :P

Well it looks like we're leaving the daycare with Feraligatr, Pidgey, Hoothoot, Eevee, and Shuckle. Just one problem: we still have Feraligatr, which is what we originally came to get rid of.

Outside of Shuckle the level spread now is pretty decent and even in harder areas most members won't get oneshot and can actually get exp when gator faints. I think this team is decent although we may need to get some tms on people.

The problem with the team isn't our levels, its our Pokemon. Pidgey can be okay once he evolves. We really don't need two birds though.

Surprising, less than 15k viewers...the popularity of TPP is wandering off like never before..

I've had it on a second window since Day 3 of the original and was hopeful with Gen 2, being a sequel. Today, I closed that window. There's nothing that made the original how special it was, and even though I missed pretty much every gym battle (mostly because I looked up all at the wrong times), I realized that it didn't mean as much as say, when I missed Blaine and Giovanni's matches. Not that it's Gen 2, but because everyone spewing old memes trying to forcefully MAKE something happen, and the goal of getting rid of the one good character... I just realized that I'm glad they beat the original and the experiment concluded itself.

With seeing the counter, it hit the lowest numbers ever and I guess now I'm also a statistic of it. But, I enjoyed the Red experience for what it was!

How's the view count and general community for this second run? Has it fallen off at all? I've not had a chance to watch.

It started around 70k, it was pretty good. But it quickly dropped off and now it's hovering around 13-14k. Of course it's late in the US, but still, it's just not nearly as strong as it was when it started. And a lot of people that were regular posters in this thread have left as well.

I seriously despise every person who puts start into the chat. Asshats.

Makes the stream unwatchable. Probably why a lot have stopped watching.

Most probably just want to change the order of the team. For me I hate everyone who tries to go to the PC every five minutes, good intentions or no.

Started strong, but people quickly realized that the Red run was enough.

Crystal started way too soon.

Yeah, I kept up with a good majority of the Red run, but have only watched them walking around Whitney's gym. They seem to be progressing quicker too.

They should've left it say a week or so before starting Crystal.

This really lost all its appeal when Democracy was introduced, made even more evident now during this run where it has been used to blaze through the entire game.

Like I said back in one of the old threads, we shouldn't have been given the option to vote at all. If we end up stuck at a part of the game for a whole week with no progress, so be it. When the numbers go down and a dedicated group works through it, it becomes a much bigger moment of triumph that would have drawn people back in, letting the cycle continue.

I've barely been paying attention to this ever since Democracy was introduced back in the rocket hideout in Red, but from what i can tell, that decision has led to a slow downward spiral in entertainment quality and stream viewers, especially now that people don't have their stupid forced meme's ("LOL HELIX, BIRD JESUS") to fall back on.

tl;dr: Creator should have continued the experiment in an anarchy state the whole time, because democracy has turned it into a boring non-entertaining lets play where nothing unexpected happens and the game is finished relatively quickly. The glory days of "the ledge" were what made the stream entertaining, and that element was taken away to encourage progress. Even if it took 2 months to finish one game, or a game becomes impossible to finish, that is a better story than the one currently being witnessed.

Anarchy is a completely unwatchable mess. Sorry, watching the group equivalent of a toddler mash buttons and attempt to use the Helix Fossil in battle for nine straight minutes isn't exactly my idea of entertainment.

But Feep, that's the whole point of the "experiment"
To make every trivial action turn into a struggle and in the smalest of all odds make something crazy happen, like catching a Zapdos.
Watching for a long time is annoying, I agree, but its far more funnier to watch someone use Dig in front of a key item, than slowly progressing the game as it was meant to be.

agreed. The gen 2 run now just didn't have much of those moments. And I'm really missing the fan art. I don't know if it would have been a better idea to wait some time to start it or not. I think TPP was something unique and I kind of knew it wouldn't work again or work for a longer period of time.

Considering how infrequently Democracy has been used across both runs (and how the narrative of viewership that Tofa has constructed doesn't even match up with reality) whining about its existence or that its "ruined" the stream just comes off as very odd. I can understand not liking it but it hasn't "ruined" anything, it hasn't rendered anything "unpure" nor is it responsible for some sort of exodus. 95+% of the time, the stream has been/is in Anarchy mode.
