I remember watching invisible walls after the reveal and laughing my ass off when they were debating if it was running on current or next gen hardware.
Hilarious to think that not even on the new consoles it looks anywhere near as good.
 
Why not, if the content is still there? They'll allow for higher quality settings on PC.

That was a tech demo. It won't exist in that form in the final game.

It's not just a matter of needing more horsepower.

You might want to watch the actual source. The cars are different but that wouldn't affect the rest of the elements.

It's the same time of day, night time.
Camera angle is very similar, wouldn't really affect other elements
There's a helicopter in both scenes, both with a spotlight on the car
That blinking bridge is just annoying, nearly as bad as the orange outline on all of the usable items in Deus Ex: HR

I'm still planning on purchasing the game as I still think it will be an enjoyable game but I'm not going to deny that there has been a graphical downgrade since the reveal.
 
Are we sure this is PS4 and not PS3?

Either way, do we know if the PC version still looks like the E3 reveal?
 
Is it just me or does GTA V make this look old? Hell ACIV on PS4 makes this look last gen, I am dissapointed.

This has been my one major pet peeve for years. It all started with Halo 2, that was the first one that really irked me.

Developers, you need to keep your shit under wraps until it's close to being done. I never want to see anything I'm not going to actually get when your game is released and I put it in my console.

You mean what has changed between a concept build demo and the actual game?

Probably better asking what hasn't been changed, but ok...

  • Lighting. Daytime is extremely saturated, and overall isn't nearly as dynamic.
  • Lack of particle effects. Only thing that comes close is maybe the smoke/frag grenade that is thrown in that video. Leaves don't blow around, fire looks like crap. Objects hit look similar to Rainbow 6 Vegas.
  • Overall texture and geometry work.
  • Animations are not near as fluid.
  • UI looks terrible, something that should easily be the clearest and cleanest visual element.
  • No reflective surfaces. Can kiss that beautiful rain and wet surfaces goodbye between this and the particle physics.

To put quite simply since I don't have all the technical knowhow like some do. Maybe someone like Dennis or Y2Kev could explain it better in details.
 
Watching the trailer again, I do feel that the comparison is a bit misleading. There have been downgrades, but it still looks rather excellent in its own right.

Looking at the gif in the op you cannot be serious. Is it coded by a year 1 coder ? Keeping to the gif.. PS3 can do better than this.

Someone from the developers need to answer this quick. I find this too hard to believe.

What I see...

-Same time of day.
-City shrouded in a strange blue fog.
-Car not receiving any lighting from the environment.
-Car not receiving any reflections from the environment.
-Shitty looking white flashes on the road surface.
-Generally worse quality everything right across the whole spectrum of visuals.

Someone posted "proof" of it being the PS4 version in the first thread, but it was all in some form of moonspeak.

Many of us also watched the full gamplay trailer and also had the immediate realization that the animation and overall visuals had been noticeably downgraded from the reveal materials, and that's allowing for even the impossible IQ used there. This wasn't posted until it was confirmed that the trailer was fromthe PS4 version assets. This is not "one bad spot" taken out of context.

Have you seen the official "screenshots" released today as well? They're insultingly modified bullshots which themselves don't even retain the detail from the reveal gameplay.

I'm as disappointed as the next person but I think people should remember that this game was built in mind with what PS3 and XB360 could do as limitations.

If Watch Dogs was PS4/XBone/PC only I think it would look a lot more like the initial reveal.

Other gameplay demos since e3 2012 have looked much better.

Some detail actually looks better. Some effects seem to be downgraded.
 
I dont care about the graphics, the story looked interesting in the recent story trailer. If the characters will be memorable, then graphics arent important.
 
Not quite a KillZone downgrade, but it does look quite a bit rougher.

The awesome lighting and reflection were 80% of the graphical appeal of this game.

I wonder if they're gonna use the old footage in advertisements.

At least everyone knew that Deep Down was bullshit.

It looked so much better than everything else we saw, so it only made sense that we weren't going to see that in reality. WD looked believable, though.

Yes, Ubisoft bullshots are insulting. They should stop with that shit

This IS a bad spot taken out of context though, judging on the rest of the gameply in that vid.
