PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | March 2014

So my Vita 2000 came in! Only a few days after ordering it too, so I'm very happy with that. The box had clearly been opened but it looks like it was only because they switched out the Japanese power cable with a local Australian one (The eBay listing said they include a power cable relative to your country of shipping) which was nice of them really.

First impressions are very good. The weight, the size, the feel of the machine when holding it are all vast, vast improvements. It's just so much more comfortable to hold and all the buttons are more responsive and just an improvement all around. Especially those triggers and the start and select buttons. I'm also glad the notification light has moved, since it was pretty distracting on the 1000.

The screen is of course not as hyper contrasty. But it's also not a downgrade by any means imo. I'm eating my words here because I've been a huge supporter of the OLED here and even been guilty of ignoring the 2000's upgrades because of the screen. Well, I was wrong. I thought I had a good unit and had no issues with Mura or lines across my screen... I was wrong. Comparing the two, the 2000's screen is just so much cleaner. There were things that I thought were textures in the OS but were actually just lines on my 1000's screen because of the OLED lol.

I'll give more impressions as I use it more, but first impressions are great, it's night and day really. A definite upgrade.

Also the speakers are MUCH louder from first listen.

Playing Toukiden and it looks fine. The O/X issue is apparent in Toukiden, but only for menus and talking. All the battle controls are identical.

Man, missing 1 note on Miku is so heart breaking. I decided I will buy it tomorrow when it comes up on the AU store. You can take screenshots of the score pages in the full version right? The demo isn't letting me.

Yes! I noticed this but forgot to mention this as well. You can seriously blast audio out of this little sucker. Imagine, if you will, the complete and total polar opposite of the 3DS XL speakers.

Also the Lime Green is definitely green, it's just a really bright green that comes off looking a little yellow in some photos.

Soul Sacrifice also seems to adopt the Japanese configuration for menus and stuff. That said, both SS and Toukiden have both reflected this in their UI (It shows the O button instead of the X button). Can't speak for all games but this is really promising.

now I am tempted to sell my unopened OLED to get a 2000 :/
and hopefully black one
Worth it. My Vita 1000 is now packed up in its box again ready to sell.

I'm so glad I finally got a white Vita though, I really wasn't that happy about settling for black with the 1000.

Where did you buy it to get it shipped into Aus so quickly? Also the X and O buttons are in the western positions?

From a seller on eBay, they have loads of them in every colour. $250AU including shipping. Cheaper than buying the 1000 on its own here and cheaper than the other import sites I looked at after they factor in shipping. Ordered it on Saturday so they obviously couldn't ship out until Monday, but it arrived this morning so it only really took 2 days to get here. Pretty impressive.

The buttons are swapped to Japanese style (O confirm, X back) for all OS level stuff. Like I mentioned above I've tested Toukiden and Soul Sacrifice and they also swap them for menu and dialogue stuff. Actual combat controls are of course the same. They also reflect the changes in their UI (They show the O button for confirm and the X button for back).

It differs from game to game, Persona 4 Golden for example uses the X for confirm config still.

Why is everyone selling their Vita 1000? I thought it was hands down better than the 2000..?
It's not.

I can see why some people would prefer the OLED screen but I think the improvements on the 2000 are reason enough to let go of that. Especially considering how many imperfections the OLED screens can have in retrospect.

Thanks for the well wishing, guys. I've never enjoyed calling people because I've always been timid but now I'm the opposite and am gonna need to remain calm because I'm furious right now.

Is there anything you guys can tell me that would help me get somewhere with them? Better to be polite or direct and like I mean business.

I've been both polite and then pissy with them and neither approach has worked. If I keep calling them my phone bill's going to skyrocket :/

Hm, thanks.

That's a good price but I think I'll hold out for an Australian release. It's not really a big deal I suppose but it drove me crazy using the 3DS with the backwards confirm/cancel buttons.

We'll get it eventually, but not in the colours they have in Japan. I really wanted this colour so I went for it, the buttons I can live with haha.

Would be nice if you could open it up and rewire the buttons.

X/O is what kept me from importing a Vita TV... JPN account only didn't help either.

It's a software issue not a hardware one. If it was hardware they'd be reversed for everything in every game. It really isn't that bad.

I wonder If should asked my family to buy a pre-owned PSV 2000 later when they go to Japan this year. Everything else beside the screen is looking pretty neat. But I think clean LCD screen is better than OLED with THAT scratch :(

So picked up a black/khaki Vita 2000 from Oriental 188 in HK this week at the request of my ex bf - got a good play around with it before leaving the store to make sure it was all working properly. Was only $200, he also scored my old 16gb card - I upgraded to a reasonably cheap (~$85) 64gb card. Also picked up two copies of Toukiden and Ys Celceta. Fought the urge to pick one up for myself but decided a new card was more sensible ;)

Like ramyeon said, first impressions are really nice, it's noticeably lighter, slightly sleeker, with the main difference being the saturation of the LCD vs. the OLED. It's not washed out, as such but definitely without the super rich colour saturation of OLED. Some people might actually prefer it. Micro USB is a nice addition, too, and I love the LED's along the top.

He's already sunk about 12 hours into Toukiden. Yet to play mine. Hoping to finish work today to get some proper time into it.

Damn man, looks like your Vita has been through a lot :p

Some people will swear by the OLED, and that's okay. But this is an upgrade in every way as far as I can tell. Having the two side by side, it's just night and day. That's just my humble opinion, but I think it says a lot when I was pretty much saying the exact opposite in Vita 2000 threads awhile back :p

They said on the blog that it is running a little late today. (although now i cant find where they said it... im still looking for the link)

no what I'm saying is they've been fairly prompt on store updates since the ps4 was released... could something be wrong they haven't been this late since that soul sacrifice thing...

That sucks about the store update being late. Usually one of the things that makes my Tuesday at work go faster is checking to see when the store updates and redeeming my free plus game.

I think it has to do with the PSN Maintenance yesterday maybe (just a guess) they are having problems right now it seems though:

Wow. I love it. Definitely getting one when my 1000 kicks the bucket.
