PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | March 2014

I seriously doubt Freedom Wars is gonna play much like Monster Hunter. I feel like the similarities end at fighting large enemies and working in groups online. It really seems like half the games called MonHun clones aren't even that similar.

It looks fantastic though, it really needs to come out here.\

It does fight big ass monsters, but there is one big differentiating factor: It supports 8 players (right?). Freedom Wars definitely will have different emphasis and there will be more than just taking down big monsters. Perhaps there will be PVP too if it support 8 players mode.

Yeah it seems to be mechanically a very different game, even if it is in the same genre. I can't see how anyone can think it's a MonHun clone after seeing the trailers - same genre but different playstyle. I think it's good that the Hunting genre is taking off and giving birth to different games like this.

Playing Atelier Totori and like it very much. But I don't feel like I managing my time right. Is it good enough if I went to Iron Rank in 18th October of the first year?

The genre potential is great, and I relieved to see other games don't just simply copy-pasted Monster Hunter mechanics and gameplay emphasis but with different skins. It'll stale if all game within the same genre plays exactly the same no matter how good the original is.

From what I read in most threads where people have similar heat problem, the PS4 indeed hotter after booting up, but it'll cool down as time goes on when you played with it.

So the fan is just kicking I later?

Or are you referring to it needing some time to break in and it will cool quicker?

Imo they are not THAT amazing, it's just that most of the developers are lazy and don't push Vita, but there are other games with gorgeous character models

(all native res games, DWN, Toukiden, Totori and maybe others have some AA too)

Yup. Tecmo usually does a really good job when developing / porting games to the Vita. I think FW looks better than GE2 though. The latter has some aliasing, FW looks softer. And they have some effect (I dunno how to describe it) that makes them look a little shinnier than in GE.

Hope Sony releases Delta and it has a FW demo like in Japan :) Or just give it away for free

Do they ever do preorders for Vita games?

In North America? No.

There has to be some bad blood between SONY and Bandai Namco in the west. They simply refuse to release any sort of Vita games even tough many of those are actually PS3/Vita releases with the PS3 version already localized, not even as a PSN exclusive. I'm surprised they released DBZ at all.

One Piece: Unlimited World Red was announced for localization yesterday. In Japan it was a 3DS exclusive. In North America, and Europe it's coming out on PS3/3DS/Wii U/Vita. Europe gets a retail version on all platforms. North America only gets a retail version for the first two.

They're obviously not against supporting the platform in the west. They just do some weird things.

Dragon Ball Z also was released on both Vita and PS3 in west by Namco.

So 2014 seems like improvement on Namco side.

Because it's just so hard.

Hey man, I'm usually posting from work pretending not to be on the internet, or on my shitty Android peasant phone, my only excuses :p

Have you seen this?

I can't be the only one here at least renting this

People call those monster hunting games MonHun clones for a lack of a better name for the genre. I can't think of a single one that plays anywhere close to MonHun.

I really, really want this game.

What settings do you guys recommend for psp games?
Should bilinear filtering be on/off? How about color space?
Havent played that many psp games on vita but Starting to play gta lsc and recently got god of war GoS

I am really surprised no one tried to give the genre another name like Riot did with MOBA. How about CBR (coop boss rush)? ;)

Maybe because none of them can really rival MH in popularity.

Man, fuck Sony Customer Support. Almost two weeks in now and no update on my hacked account at all. So pissed.

At this point Even I would be pissed if I encounter that problem. Have you tried making a fuss at Twitter or at the EU (you're in the UK right?) blog posts? I don't want to be sorry to you since it's like rubbing salt to the wound so Fight on!?

Capcom lists the genre for Monster Hunter as "hunting action". Only three people (I counted) on the internet actually use that term.

I think bilinear on for 3D games and off for 2D games.
As for the colour space, ON dims the contrast so it looks more like a PSP screen, so it depends if you want dat OLED goodness or just the LCD peasantry.

Looked at it aswell, as I like dungeon grinders, but got a bit turned off by the idea of losing all your levels each time you leave a dungeon.

Each time? The only game I've ever played that did that was that Mana game on PS2 and i did not at all like it. Is the content/story at least good and worth a purchase?

Does that include me? Update that to four.

Writing them as "MH clones" is definitely easier than "hunting action".

The west isn't ready for this genre.

I remember GAFfers talking about this game and said it's an MH clone.

Kirito: dem those MONSTERS. Imma poke them with my gunlance"

"XXX-clone" terms will always tend to be detrimental to discussions due to the connotations they bring.

Hey vitagaf, planning to buy Sorcery Saga, pretty cheap as of now. Is the game any good/fun?
It's cute and unfortunately that's about the highest complement I can give it. I'd say it's kind of a grind but for a rogue like the difficulty is really easy. I cleared nearly every dungeon without dying. The characters are terrible, the plot goes nowhere, and most of the dungeon crawling has a load of half finished ideas.

That being said, for some reason I still really like it... Its cute, even if the story elements that go nowhere have a tendency to overstay their welcome by a factor of 10. If you can find it cheap enough I'd actually recommend it as there's a surprising amount of enjoyment to be had from the game; seemingly in spite of itself for reasons I can't quite discern.

Warning though, the last dungeon is pure bullshit.

It's not coming is it. We're all sitting here like the guy who gave his number to a hot looking girl, hoping she'll call...but she never will.

Well me and another gaffer(was it suppa or someone else?) only has harsh words for the game. With that gaffer saying something to the tune of quote:"Time and Eternity is a masterpiece compared to this garbage".

But if you want a cutesy game with pretty simple story and cardboard cutout characters, go for it.

Found the quote:
Sorcery Saga sucks.

Time & Eternity is a masterpiece compared to this nonsense

I feel I should play Time and Eternity now. If only as a palate cleanser.

It's weird that I'm waiting for Project Diva F 2nd first before I buy f's DLC. I'm almost sure I'd buy them since there's only two more unannounced song left.

Where the fuck is my Haku?! Left as DLC again?

P.S. I'd be laughing and crying so hard at the same time if one of the two unrevealed songs is ray performed by BUMP OF CHICKEN feat. HATSUNE MIKU.

Anybody else owns the digital version of Touch My Katamari? I got it on PS+ a few months ago, and when I try to download it, the download never, never goes further than 23 mb.

Of course, it went up a few days ago!
No, it's not officially up yet. Still no PS+ prices. :/

I had to contact Sony yesterday because the PS+ price on the NFS games wasn't showing up and I wanted to get Hot Pursuit for my brother.

The guy insisted that the store was updated. Gosh, how I hate Costumer Service.

Really? Heard TaE was pretty bad enough. Kinda stepping away from buying it now.

And im back to where I was. I suppose my best course action is to wait for the game to be a bit more lower, like around $10. Btw, what makes the last dungeon so horrible?
