GOG forum users think it's Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender Bender.

That's another Tommo game, so it'd make sense with other previous classic releases being from Tommo.

That makes a lot of sense from the clue and the lineup we know. All I really know it as is something of a Space Quest wannabe; can't really talk about whether it's any good, though!

Hey, GOGgers,

We're not perfect, we're exploring new frontiers, and we make mistakes. We thought DRM-Free was so important that you'd prefer we bring you more DRM-Free games and Fair Price was less critical and that it could be sacrificed in some cases. The last two week's worth of comments in our forums (nearly 10k!), show that's not the case. We didn’t listen and we let you down. We shouldn't sacrifice one of our core values in an attempt to advance another. We feel bad about that, and we're sorry. Us being sorry is not of much use to you, so let’s talk about how we will fix it.

One: DRM-free forever. Abandoning fixed regional pricing means it will probably take longer to get some games, but you've made it clear that sacrificing fair pricing for more DRM-free games isn't acceptable.

Two: We will adamantly continue to fight for games with flat worldwide pricing. If that fails and we are required to have regional prices, we will make up the difference for you out of our own pockets. For now it will be with $5.99 and $9.99 game codes. In a couple of months, once we have such functionality implemented, we will give you store credit instead, which then you will be able to use towards any purchase and cover the price of it in full or partially. Effectively gamers from all around the world will be able to benefit from the US prices.

This will apply to every single game where we do not have flat pricing, such as Age of Wonders 3 (full details here), Divinity: Original Sin, and The Witcher 3. If you remember the Fair Price Package for The Witcher 2, this will be exactly the same.

Three: We still intend to introduce the pricing in local currencies. Let us explain why we want to do it and how we want to make it fair for everyone. From the very beginning our intention was to make things easier for users whose credit cards/payment systems are not natively in USD. The advantages are simple because the price is more understandable and easier to relate to. There would be no exchange rates involved, no transaction fees, and no other hidden charges. However after reading your comments, we realized we have taken an important element away: the choice. In order to fix this, we'll offer the option of paying in the local currency or the equivalent in USD. This way, how you pay is always your choice.

Four: You are what matters, and we will be sure to involve you all more in what we're doing and why we're doing it. Let's start by meeting you at GDC - we’d like to invite you to meet us face-to-face Monday the 17th at GDC. Obviously, not all of you can come to San Francisco, so we want to invite all of you to an online event with us early in April to ask us whatever you would like. More details soon.

The bottom line is simple: there may be companies that won't work with us (although we will work hard to convince the most stubborn ones ;). Yes, it means we might miss out on some games, but at the same time GOG.com will remain true to its values and will keep on offering you the best of DRM-free gaming with Fair Prices.

Once again thank you for caring so much about GOG.com. We will work hard not to disappoint you again.

Also an update on the AoW3 preorder situation.

Too the above, not a bad compromise imo. Wonder how other people will feel, sounds more than fair to me, but I wasn't really one phased by it very much before.

And for the prior weekend's lack of recommended games update, some weeks I just will have to skip lol. It's fun to go through the games and collect the thoughts of various members, but it's not the quickest process in the world. Still, there are around 40 entries from the first two months time, so even at that pace, it won't be too too long before the entire catalog is processed.

Also, the OP is shaping out a little better now, I feel. The three main purposes are all decently represented; the current month's releases with thumbnails to aid in browsing them, the prior month's releases condensed to simple text format with bolding to not overcrowd the OP, and the last section highlighting the current year's notable titles with quotes from members. Further thoughts and suggestions are always welcome of course, but I'm fairly happy with how it is evolving.

So it sounds like they're going to continue with regional pricing, but take most of the hit themselves?

Interesting idea, though I hope it doesn't hamstring their desire to get more games that could only be put on GOG with regional pricing. The idea was exciting, because it meant that GOG will be able to offer DRM-free versions of newer, oftentimes more interesting fare than what they currently do. The pricing wasn't fair, but... well, a lot of things in life aren't.

Well "continue with regional pricing" is certainly one way of interpreting "adamantly continue to fight for games with flat worldwide pricing" + refund the difference with store credit good for any purchase when it is not possible to get a flat price. Guess it's a glass half full / half empty situation. ;)

For my own selfish desires I'm a little concerned at how this will affect their ability to cut deals in the future, but nonetheless kudos for following up on customer feedback in such a generous way.

Long Live the Queen was released on gog
Don't get deceived by how this game looks, it's great: "game of thrones the game for real this time".

It's been available for ages, it's featured today because it's on sale

really, I checked some time ago it was not on gog. When it was released then?

edited: it was released back in 2012? That can't be... I checked in 2013 and it wasn't there. That's so weird.
Anyway, it's still a good game, especially for that price

I don't understand why Flashback isn't on GoG. Is my only option that 2013 game where it includes the classic Flashback?

Also i just found out there is Another World sequel called Heart of the Alien where you play as Lesters alien buddy. WHY ISN'T THIS ON PC?? Apparently Lester doesn't
die at the end of Another World and is just badly wounded.

DON'T get the 2013 version just for the classic game, the classic game is displayed in a tiny portion of the screen on an arcade machine in the game world with distracting background:

My suggestion: Scour ebay for the original dos release (and optionally the amiga release for music), extract the files and use this source port:
http://cyxdown.free.fr/reminiscence/

Edit: There is also a source port of Heart of the Alien for PC requiring the Sega CD disc. I haven't played it so far because I don't have the CD and it is said to be a very weak sequel anyway:

It came out october last year. Gog release dates are always the date the game was first released, not the gog release date

Rex Nebular confirmed as today's release on Facebook. I'll update if there's another.

Edit: Link. Also Journey of a Roach

Rex Nebular sort of passed me by; I was aware of it, but picked up very little about it at the time. I guess it's approximately Space Suit Larry?

Hey guys, thought I'd drop in and post. Just bought my first games off GOG the other day, playing through Baldur's Gate for the first time ever. I already have a big wishlist. I've never played stuff like BG, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment, think this is what's going to keep me busy now through the summer. Do GOG do a spring/summer sale or anything? They sell these games at such a great price already I was thinknig about jsut stocking up, but if there are sales etc., I'll hold off.

You betcha. They also like to add little gimmicks to many of these sales. Some good, some not. Like limited supply sales, or ones where you can add or subtract a specific title's sale time by a second to affect when the next one in line comes up

Yeah, I'd suggest just using the wishlist feature for everything you want from them, and then when sales come around, you can just check your wishlist on the site and it will show the games that are discounted right in the wishlist.

Thanks great guys. I got Baldur 1 & 2, then ran through their mod guide, so between the two, that's going to keep me mega busy until the others pop up on sale.

Started to play the Legacy of Kain games after owning them on gog for a while. Damn they're good. Especially soul reaver 2.

You'll never win... see there's already two sales, one semi-bigger one were you can get 5 games 80-90% off, then another smaller one where you can get any of the selected games for a discount.

Not as big as a summer/winter sale where nearly the whole site is discounted, but bigger than the typical weekend sale they run.

How does the Pot of Gold work? It charges me $2 and I get a random game in return?

The Tumblr explains it better. It adds a $2 entry to the bundle and I think it's any random game not listed in the promo.

I was feeling kinda curious. So I decided to try my luck with the Luck of the Irish pot of gold deal. Threw 10 bucks in, got the following:

Avernum the complete collection, Geneforge 1-5, Tales from Space: When Mutant Blobs Attack, ittle Dew, Dracula 4, Giana Sisters: Rise of the Owlverlord.

Yeah, Rex is sort of like Larry meets Space Quest. It's not great, but I remember having fun with it when I played many moons ago when I was but a wee lad.

Now, maybe I'm too inclined to read too much into background information, but Night Dive just facebook'd this image of their GoG Christmas card.

...Bad Mojo on the way?

Yeah, pretty much. It was also Microprose's one and only attempt at an adventure game, so they just made a raunchier Space Quest. lol

I've been wanting to get it legitimately though, so this is cool.

Finally, 5 more additions. This week we have our first DLC to make the list, normally I wouldn't put DLC on the lists, but there's no denying Dragonfall is something more than typical DLC.

Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic has no trouble qualifying as it takes one of the top spots for the genre, right behind Master of Magic. Patches for AoW:SM improve the AI, which is always a good thing for TBS games. Definitely a title not to be missed if you're looking for good 4X TBS games.

Then Shadowrun Returns / Dragonfall. Returns is a bit hit or miss; there's no denying it has its flaws, the combat system and linearity mainly, the atmosphere and story (for the first half) are what people enjoy. Whether you like it or not, Dragonfall is unanimously seen quite an improvement, good enough to sit up there on the top of the year's list of best RPGs by some. Better writing, slightly less linear, a promising 'DLC' that acts more like a sequel / full game.

And finally, there's more kings of the genre, Freespace & Freespace 2. The modding community has really done their magic with FSO, keeping the games feeling fresh with amazing improvements in graphics (and tons of community created content), even bringing Freespace 1 up to the standards of the improved, modded sequel. Space opera at its best, you'd be hard pressed to find a better space sim (though certainly some titles can give it a run for its money).

What almost made the cut but didn't, Harvester and Rex Nebular. Harvester certainly turned some heads, with its description of being 'the most vicious games ever' etc, and people seem to like it for that, but there's very little in terms of real impressions. And Rex Nebular also has a few positive impressions of being an under-looked game worth playing, but also not enough to get on the list.

Well I tried to get Lily Looking Through and 4 pot o golds but it wouldn't redirect to paypal. I guess they don't get my moneys. :p

Yo, Minsc, I just wanted to say you're doing a really good job with those recommendations. It makes games look so appetizing.

Anyway, I went ahead and bought Shadow Warrior. I was on the fence when it first came out, but it looks pretty rad, and I figured that for $10, why not? I'll check it out after I get back from GDC.

Hmmm, might have to check out the age of wonders game, would give me a good gauge of whether the new one is something I'd want to check out or not. GOG has really opened up some doors for me, find myself wishlisting all sorts I wouldn't have thought I'd play before. Definitely picking up Divinity Dragon Commander later.

I thought Dragon Commander had some of the best-written characters in any video game last year. It also has a funny character which I'm sure is based off of Edmund Blackadder.

Been using the site since the Valentine's Day sale, wish I'd gotten in sooner so I could buy motherfuckin' SiN Gold! This game's a sleeper for sure, it's still really low on the "fpp" bestsellers list. WINE wrapper's a lazy way to go for a Mac release, though; most of the in-game bugs are either inconspicuous or, when severe, very rare, making for a great experience. Genuinely underrated stuff here, guys.
