Twitch Plays Pokemon Thread 3: Return of Red... Aussies win again!

The lore of TPP is better than anything to come out of the games, it's actually impressive. How does something with such varied input conclude so cohesively? Almost like it writes itself.

I don't know, I was never that fond of Brendan's design. Red, Gold (the OG Gold, Ethan is meh...), Hilbert (aside from the name), and Calem are all great designs. Brendan, Nate and Ethan I'm ambivalent about. Lucas is awful.

For girls, I like Kris, Leaf, May and Serena. Dawn is so-so. Lyra, Hilda and Rose are repulsive.

In terms of who I chose:

C: Kris
RSE: May
FRLG: Red
DPPt: Dawn
HGSS: Ethan
BW: Hilbert
BW2: Nate
XY: Serena

Agreed. I also really get a kick outta reading the TVtropes articles for the TPP runs too.
There's just so much stuff to come out of this, its awesome.

Gotta say, one of the best things about Crystal's lore is that it evolved to correspond with the backlash against it. After the hilarious religious lore of Red, it was nice to switch to a more dramatic one.

Also, which parts are gonna be the toughest in Emerald? I'm betting on Sootopolis Gym (Morty 2.0), the Undersea Cave (Strength puzzles), and some of the longer routes. For battles, I'm betting on Tate and Liza and Wallace (fucking Water types).

That was crazy.

Flannery and Brawly will screw us over once each. I always lose to Brawley when I don't overprepare, and Flannery is typically tough with Attract+Overheat

What starter will they choose? It better not be Treecko.

Either one works, but Grovyle would be awesome because this

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky

Mudkip is awesome, but has had his time in the spotlight of the internet before.
Torchic line is already the fan favorite, as evidenced by MEga Blaziken

Pokemon of the Past DX Hahaha
18 minutes and 5 days to beat Pokemon LA guys.

We need to stop the nightmares of AJ and Red

YESYESYES I approve of Pokemon Sonic

I think Treecko and Grovyle are cool. Too bad Sceptile exists lol.

Mudkip and Torchic would be useful early in the game. Blaziken would be a bit unreliable in later gyms, but would be great against the E4. Swampert would be pretty good against the later gyms and do decent against the E4.

Sceptile is pretty good overall like Swampert against the gym leaders, but is crap against the E4.

Treeko also has the early game benefit of not being that ard to heal and take care of because early game Absorb wrecking

Just a reminder that we're dealing with Wallace instead of Steven, so Blaziken is much less useful than it normally is against the Elite 4 (still wrecks Sidney and Glacia). Meanwhile, Sceptile's pretty good against Wallace provided you OHKO things with Leaf Blade and don't suffer Ice Beams.

Mudkip is considered the best starter by most people because its typing, stats, and movepool carry you easily through the game, but Treeko and Torchic are both also real good. Probably the most balanced generation of starters; there's no obvious winner like Totodile in Gen 2.

Naughty Naughty Toxi. Trying to get rid of your crow. I'm on to you lol

Gen 3 starters are all nice designs and I really can't pick a favorite. Same with Gen 1 (No matter what the Charizard fanboys say) and Gen 4.

Gen 2, 5, and 6 are all pretty unbalanced though.

Gator worked so well as a God slayer, nothing else would have looked so badass.

The whole voice possession thing and the switch to new protagonists reminds me of Karras's sacrifice at the end of the exorcist.

We're watching the 1st episode of the anime, with the buttons controlling buttons on a TV remote. This is hilarious.
Why is this so much fun.

It's like a youtube poop, only funny.

"I SEE WHAT YOU aww it's so cute PIKACHU thaaaaank youuuu *Horn sounds*"

You know, if Oak knew that he was out of Pokemon except for Pikachu, then why did he lead Ash on by letting him open the other three Poke Balls? That's just being a jerk.
