Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

I'm around level 150 in NG+ and have been getting destroyed in PvP (something like 5 kills, 30 deaths) trying to get bell covenant rank 2. Finally looked up a good build online and have gone 7-0 so far. Hexes are OP and you just cast two spells and they are dead, the first of which follows them around as they try to dodge fruitlessly.

You won't get his helmet for sure, and maybe not the rest of his armor (I can't remember if he drops it, or you get it elsewhere). Either way, the set is the best I've found so far.

Well damn, guess I need to make that awful trek again.

Oh my god, fuck that lava hole. I died twice falling into that then obliterated him on my third try.

I spent so much time hyping up a battle against him, used one of my few Human Effegies, summoned 2 sunbros who looked good, used a bunch of items. Walk in -> Fall in that hole when rolling away from a swing of his right away.

The people I summoned must have thought I was an idiot.

Just beat it. Overall I really enjoyed my time with it, late/end-game spoilers below:

I thought a majority of the bosses were too easy with certain regular enemies (those damn white troll things) providing a more consistent challenge each time I fought them. The last boss in particular was very easy, a little bit disappointing. Luckily though I've read that New Game + changes up several encounters and bosses, as well as item drops, so I'm looking forward to that.

I'll admit that I was a bit lost when it came to the story... What was the Emerald Herald's deal again? She wanted someone to come along and free her but then she stops showing up in the late-game areas once you start doing the giant memories and the Throne of Want... No idea what was happening once that all started. And why did that dragon give me the Ashen Mist? What makes me so special? Just purely getting through the gauntlet of giant armoured dudes before him?

I played a pure strength build using Alva's set, the Greatsword and a lightning Shortbow with poison arrows. Most things died in very few hits and I had a lot of fun running around with no shield. I'm not sure I'll use a shield on any of my future builds, they just don't really seem necessary, at least not in the first playthrough.

I would like to with a quality build for my second character and was wondering how the STR and DEX stats breakdown for it in DS2. In the first game you could two-hand a quality weapon and have 27str and 40 dex and be doing very good damage. I guess since you can respec I should just play around a bit and see what's up.

Holy jeebus this boss is pulverising me

The friggen giant lord memory is way harder than it should be. Because of the goddamn non-stop off map fireball spam I'm literally forced to rub my face into his ankles only to die repeatedly to his sword swipes. I'm so close to the end too :(

Just run right up to where he is and they won't hit you. The hardest part is wrestling with the camera.

Ok guys I'm at the end if the game but it looks like a totally missed a zone. On the warp page how do you get to the zone to the right of iron keep? That and where is the huge rat boss?

I just beat the game.

Are there multiple endings ?Also please answer this
I skipped three of the giant memories..Are there any critical things to do their ? Or Just extra enemies ?I found it incredibly annoying with the random fire explosions so I opted out and went for the final boss

Its incredibly annoying.I skipped the other memories for that reason. So I wonder what is actually in there.

those giant souls are so you can do more damage to king venerick if you choose to fight him

Question about the Berserker Blade:
Do I need to be in NG+ and/or to burn a bonfire ascetic? Because I stacked all the item discovery I could: travel merchant hat, prisoner rags, covetous gold serpent ring+1, and I fought him at least 4-5 times and he didn't drop a single thing. Not even a piece of armour. What gives?

Time to fruitlessly throw myself against Smelter Demon a few more times. Damn me and me insistence on soloing everything on the first playthrough. Every playthrough after this is going to be a shameless summon fest. I'll have earned it.

Here's a question. How many of the bosses are optional? So far I've got 6.
Rat authority, Old Dragonslayer, Bell Gargoyles, Chariot, Vendrick, Rat Vanguard, and Smelter Demon
. Any others I missed?

Speaking of which,
are there any good tips for dealing with him? Or is it just "don't suck"? Because he easily wrecks me and even with 4 out of 5 Giant Souls I'm not doing A LOT of damage, and I'm not sure the last one that I'd rather avoid getting is going to do enough.

Fight vendrick ? I attacked him and he didn't respond. Is there some condition for fighting him ?

Cause you did no damage.
if you hit him 5-6 times he'll aggro. If you hit him once with the giant souls you'll do much more damage. I have all 3 souls and hit him one handed with a +5 pursuer great sword for 130 damage. The fight is manageable but he can one shot you.

Here is a list
The Pursuer or Flexible Sentry (depends which way you want to go to Lost Bastille)
Rat Authority
Rat Vanguard
Old Dragonslayer
Belfry Gargoyles
Smelter Demon
Darklurker
Ruin Sentinels ( you need to kill Flexible Sentry if you want to skip them)
Executioner's Chariot
Vendrick
Ancient Dragon

Didn't know their was more then 3 lol. Would explain my 130 damage hits

Lol be careful with that one. People who try to pull that on me get a sunlight spear to the face, which usually insta ko's them. That hex has a long cast time.

that's where I am as well

I summoned a few times, just because it's fun to coop it. NG+ will probably be solo to test myself

hmm Thanks I'll try that. Do you have any idea if multiple endings exist ?

Interesting. Considering the game only has
27
bosses. That's quite a lot.

Has anyone else had all bonfires show up in the travel menu even though they haven't visited them?

There are
58!
bonfires in total that can be traveled too. The ones I haven't visited have been greyed out but it's still odd that I can see them.

No idea
but I heard their was music in the game that wasn't used at all when I watched a stream for 3 days straight. All signs point to possibly yes but it would be in like ng+++

Can someone give me directions to the sunbro altar? The tip I read gave directions from the mines bonfire but when I follow them I hit another bonfire and never see an altar.

Well, just beat the game. a little over 60 hours on that character from start to finish. What a fantastic game!

I'm already making plans for my 2nd run with a DEX/Pyromancy character. My first run was pure sorcerer. I messed up a late game quest to get all the spells for the trophy, which kinda sucks, but I'll definitely be doing a new game + on my sorc, so not all is lost.

Overall, I feel this game had better quality consistently throughout, however there was little to no guidance on exactly where you should be going. Even Dark Souls 1's minimalist approach looks very helpful by comparison. At the end of the day though, there was not a single level i would dread going back to like old Lost Izalith.

Ugh. I feel like every time I used an effigy I either cruised through the boss I used it for or immediately fell in a hole and died.

Take a right after warping to the Mines bonfire, go past the area with pits, head across the bridge to where the green hammer guy is, then head left along the narrow path. Follow that through and you'll see it.

He's the Bed of Chaos of this game, IMO. Everything about that thing sucks.

Maybe im dumb but, how do I get the item in the tree in
the Scorpioness Najka boss room?

You gotta have her hit the tree while she's alive to break it. For what it's worth, it's only some low end consumable. I can't remember exactly what, but I know when i got it, I was very "meh".

Hahahaha so it seems
Moonlight Greatsword
+
Crystal Magic Weapon
= one hit kills in PvP. Despite my complaints, this game is pretty darn fun!

So is there any sort of a GAF (somewhat) general consensus on this game? Better than the first and/or Demons? Too easy? Too casual? Too hard? I just finished the Souls games for the first time earlier this year and am kind of burnt out on the style of gameplay, but I'm wondering if I should just say what the hell and jump right in! I've seen pretty much zero footage of this.

You can get 5 before the the damage stops improving, for the other two
there's a pair of giants in Black Gulch, you need to drop down some ledges along the worm path to get it, bringing a torch for this is a great idea. The second is dropped from the ancient dragon if you fight him, and fortunately you CAN summon help there. And I think there was something about being able to fight him over and over to farm Giant Souls but maybe that requires using a bonfire ascetic.

curious how long it took everyone to beat
the rotten
.

it took me 4 fuckin hours but I did it to myself by going to an over leveled area so early on. T_T

figured out something cool about the slug boss in earthen.
the cages above him can be shot , they drop snacks for him which distract him. :D

So, the drangleic sword, kicks some serious ass. trying to figure out if I should Imbue it or not and if so what to imbue it with. Any suggestions?
