When you get summoned as a grey spirit it means
you are in a ratbro area, you get forced into the world of a ratbro to do battle.

Ah, I thought that only applied to one area. I guess they have multiple places then.
Although they both have a lot of Pharros stone mechanisms so I guess it is easy to put two and two together. Not to mention little rat things.

Just got the item to infuse weapons.

Whats a good way to go in this game? I don't have a lighting stone yet but I have magic, fire, and dark. Wanna upgrade my Mace or Bastard Sword.

.....my Internet is not the greatest so I sincerely hope it is possible to finish the game all offline.

Just finish the game, not beating super-hard-optional-super-bosses or anything. Simply finish the game.

Is it possible, guys?

Yes definitely, and I might say that playing offline you will have a bigger sense of discovery. I think the orange messages people leave kills some of the discovery of the game. But then you gain the funny messages and the co op and PvP, so it's worth playing online. I played through Dark Souls completely offline, and DS 2 can be done the same way.

yeah definitely.

and maybe consider going full offline if you don't want to deal with terrible lag when invaders happen.

yes, absolutely

Fantastic. I was worried that it wouldn't be possible, considering how everyone seem to hype up the online mode all the time.

If this is the same with the 1st game as well, then I'll get it as well. Not interested in coop and pvp, I am just looking for a great & atmospheric single player gaming experience :)

This is my very first real intention of playing a Souls game seriously, so hopefully I can count on you folks on directions and help with builds and the like. It's actually kind of scary, truth be told, hahaha.

This one dick mage that pre-buffs, soulmass, and sits behind a pillar keeps summoning me to the point where I'm just jumping into lava when I see him.

Block function pls

KK time to retire for the night, all the weapon users have went to bed.

Do you have any investment in INT/FAITH? Those will scale with fire/lightning.

I hate it when I get invaded and people just hide behind enemies lol. I know there is a ring? or something to cause enemies to be hostile, but I haven't found it yet.

Anyone have suggestions for a weapon for an INT build? Don't like greatswords though.

Started a Sorcerer yesterday and did pure Soul Arrow spam all the way to Iron Keep. So ez.

Where do you recommend to burn the Bonfire Ascetic? I've got two so far and don't want to miss anything important on my first play through.

I'm in the same boat but also weary it will make that same zone new game++ in my new game+. In other words a decent bit harder!

anyone dual wielding 10-17 hours in? i'm still running with fire sword and short sword since i can't find any other weapons. sometimes it's just easier to switch to mace and shield if i want to take things slowly. i don't do any less damage that way.

which attacks are you mainly using while dual wielding?

I finally fucking did it beat the sentinels yeah! All i needed was the lighting miracle i got from a lady which i can't seem to find anymore. Also i have like 3 open places i can go to after i defeated one of the major bosses, one of which requires poison resistance which i do not have so that blows.
Also I joined the bell covenant and i get to invade fools who are transgressing its pretty damn cool just to kill guys to i'm curious, there's a fog door which i presume leads to a boss if i defeat the boss in the bell area do i leave the covenant?

Nope :D Go kill the boss if you want.

Haven't put a point into ether of them

I'm stuck at the same point. I really want to use the double wielding feature but haven't found the weapons to do so. I'm relying on my bastard sword at the moment and my drangleic shield, but I really want to ditch them as soon as possible.

Drangleic Castle is spooky as hell. I was so nervous yesterday when I finally set foot in it.
Thankfully I got used to it by now.

74+ hours in, SL 136 I think and still far from being done it seems...

I have to say, summoning works perfect now, either you'll get a prompt immediatly saying it failed or the summon will appear pretty fast. Love it.

Just wait til you get to the 2 areas after the castle. Some scary shit goes on. They are also really hard

The first one's really vague and you'd just miss references, but perhaps given how many of those references are "but the knowledge was lost to time" it might actually be more interesting in a way to go back to DS after DSII. So do whatever, if you like the game enough you will want to go back anyway, even for Dark Souls I felt this way and went back to Demon's Souls.

this game is just as vague..if not more so than the original.

I am stumped by the ending.

I just spent a couple of tries fighting
Scorpion Najka
. It was a good fight, challenging, and I died a few times but I managed to whittle the boss' HP down. After trying twice, I went and used a human effigy, and then a summon sign appeared and we beat it. Co op does make it a bit easier but it was still fun. The whole Shaded Forest/Ruins was a great place I think, pretty cool. Reminded me a bit of Dark Souls.

Scorpion Najka was definitely this game's version of Quelaag.
That area was so damn ugly.
And the boss was pretty lame too.
Quelaag looked better and was more fun to fight.

All pretty cheap.

I'm the same as you, I'm not really interested in the PvP/coop aspect of the game. I finished it without any major problems without summoning anyone. If you ever get stuck, you can summon NPCs before most hard bosses as well (although, it's not needed really).

fan fucking tastic thx, i also defeated ornstein if you pay attention he not so hard.

there are only a few cheesy bosses (
Darklurker, Sentinels, Ancient Dragon and to a degree Smelter Demon (that overhead => shock wave instant death combo is just hella lame and stupid)
). 2 of them are luckily optional.
Most bosses are actually really easy if you recognize the pattern and have the basic timing down.

Disagree, friend. It had the familiar mossy stone look which was like 80% of Dark Souls, lol. But anyway, I loved the fog, and the creepy sounds, as well as the layers of the level. The boss was cool, I think, and wasn't anything crazy original but it was a cool boss. I liked the
Scorpion
look. Quelaag had the crazy weird fur fibers thing going on, so she was creepier, but I liked this boss. Oh yeah the interesting NPC at the bottom. I need to go back and figure that out. And the interesting NPC in the wheelchair that I haven't figured out how to get to.

EDIT: And I forgot the NPC in the fog. That was a cool NPC that I didn't expect. All these things come together to make the area cool to me.

So, i just got to the

Mass of corpses boss, which i don't remember the name of, i died a few times already, but am i supposed to clear the whole area (traps that respawn again included, every time i die? I tried the run as fast as you can tactic, but it didn't go as well as i hoped

Loving the game btw, still trying to find a weapon i like though

There are so many secrets in this game, soooo many secrets!

I keep going back to areas and finding new things.

This game is officially my favorite souls game.

There's a bonfire near the boss door, just follow the wall on its right until you see a small path.

I love the game :) Im just helping others to beat the bosses and then learn the moves off the bosses so I can defeat them easy :)

I'm not the best to ask, but I'd assume anything non-elemental will be what you're after, it'll now just depend on STR/DEX or a quality weapon.

Well yeah, RAW lowers scaling but increases base damage. Thinking bleed or poison since they are DEX based im just not sure if they are worth it

Ya... think I ran into him tonight too... on the bridge in iron?

I'm having massive regrets on what I used one of my boss stones on... now I have to wait till clear 3 more zones at a chance at another curved greatsword.

Can you be summoned into/summon people from a new game into new game+ if soul level matches up?

I love how busy everything is just now but do worry slightly about a drop in activity once I hit new game+.
