Smelter Demon
is murdering me :((( I dunno what to do after he powers up.

He is the same powered up as he is when he isn't as far as i can tell. He just hits harder.

keep to his right side (Your left) and roll towards him when he swings under his arm get 2 hits in then move to the left again.

Use a magic weapon or poison and try not to use a slashing weapon if you can help it.

I did but it does bugger all damage. The poison killed him in the end.

I've got a question about B
elfry
S
ol
. One that has surely been asked a couple of times before, but I keep finding conflicting answers.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get the berserker blade to drop in NG after burning a bonfire ascetic? I've got three parts of his armour, missing his helm, but I'ld like to know if I should just quit after getting his helm. Climbing that ladder constantsly is getting really tedious.

NM: got it, not the helm, but didn't feel like grinding for the helm anymore.

Decent progress this evening. Killed the
Belfey Gargoyles 2.0
last night for the key, side tracked today to enter the Huntsman's Corpse and knocked off the
Skeleton Lords
. Super easy, got them first go. Went back and fucked up
the Lost Sinner
. Hard fight but a lot of fun. Unpetrified switch lady, wandered that area, and killed
hot Scorpion Babe
. I have no idea what I'm doing or where I'm going.

Nearly all the boss soul weapons are lackluster this time around anyways.

That sucks. Should I just eat up most of the boss souls for levelling then?

tips for
Ruin Sentinels
in Lost Bastille?
First one is easy, other two are hard.

After killing the first one. Stand still, and the second one will jump, fight it till the third one jumps and then fall down to the main floor. Then its just a matter of making sure that both Sentinels are in front of you while focusing on killing the one already hurt. Just be careful with their spinning attack, it hurst a lot and have decent range, roll backwards them. The rest of attacks are slow, be patient and punish when they're open.

I dont think this is true though. They start out mediocre, but level FAR better upon upgrading, like a +45 increase (or whatever) with each level. I dont have the materials yet to max such a weapon, but I wouldnt say they are outright lackluster/bad.

Do you use a bow? The bow you can make from the
Dragonrider
soul (boss in Heide's) is very good. I plan to get it in my second run asap. STR 20 DEX 18 required though.

That bow plus poison arrows wrecks bosses. Only problem is the insane stamina it eats when you fire it.

There is a gate that can only be opened from the far end. It just allows you to by pass the back half of the area. It's right by the Pharoahs stone thing. I wish I didn't use a stone on it.

Oh that, I wish there was an easy route to the ship from the bonfire, its a faff. But.. using the stone would at least get rid of the monsters, right?

Are the stones in easy supply? I used one in Giants to get the Stamina ring :)

jesus christ, i'm sure this has been said 100x in this thread but there is some questionable bonfire placement in this game
why the fuck do you
spawn in front of 3 knights with crossbows in sinner's rise?

Just beat the game. It was an awesome ride. This game is huge! So many areas to explore, and I just didn't want to stop playing. I enjoyed it a lot more than the other two souls games, but that may have to do with this being my first true blind run. The ending was not that great, but souls game so yeah.

In all honesty I thought this game was harder than DeS, and DaS. I hear everyone saying it's easier, but maybe it's just me, or my build. The enemies being more aggressive, the crappy parry, more difficult backstabs, and roll being different took a while for me to get used to. I enjoyed the bosses. Have a feeling that I was over leveled for some because I missed some locations early on. Some had me screaming in anger while others had me laugh at how easy they were.

Also had a lot of fun in PvP this time around. PvP was something I never really got into in the other games because I got into them so late. Aside from a few laggy matches here and there it was overall a smoother experience for me. The servers are populated so it should stay that way for a while. Really like the new covenants, and now I can try them all out without having to dedicate fully or start a new game.

Another question, I wonder how hard Platinum/1000GS is on this game? It took 2.5 runs to get everything required in DkS1 (Sif's souls x3 times).

Been playing this for a couple of hours now and I can't shake the feeling that visually it's a lot worse than Dark Souls 1. Something just looks... off about it.

Having a tough time finding decent armour so far... decent anything really. Still feeling completely ineffective against everything at this point unsurprisingly, but at least there's been no boss fights yet.

Also, when do I encounter this supposed shitty framerate I keep hearing about? It's been running great so far.

I'm loving the guard break shove so much. So many people in pvp still trying their Greatshield+Spear turtling bullshit from DS1. They're like free kills now! xD

yep. I'm a pure dex character and even then that thing packs a serious punch, very happy with it

Might as well use the soul already have the great shield from my first Dragonrider soul. Plus need new bow was holding off for the glory that is greatbow to fire lances at people again

Yup, it's terrible. Do this:
Kill them until they don't spawn any more.

BEAT THE
PURSUER
(second boss), HURRAY!!!! Praise the sun! After 4 hours of wiping.

After killing the first one. Stand still, and the second one will jump, fight it till the third one jumps and then fall down to the main floor. Thanks! Will give it a try

Not too hard. You'll need 2.5 playthroughs (to unlock Chancellor Wellager's upgraded wares) and a few respecs depending on your build (must meet INT/FTH requirement for some spell vendors to sell you stuff). I'm working on NG+ right now. The only trophies I need is collect all sorceries/miracles/etc and inherit
Lucatiel's
equipment, which I need one more boss for. I'll get all four spell collection trophies on NG++.

Lol I crashed the game.

Got a PSN notification and was invaded by a npc phantom at the same time and I assume the game committed suicide and froze.

Are the S
keleton
L
ords
that easy? I had problems with them, felt a little bad seeing people here saying that it's easy.

However, I almost defeated the S
melter
D
emon
on my first try. Only lost because of a AOE attack that I was not expecting. He didn't hit me once until that.

tips for
Ruin Sentinels
in Lost Bastille?
First one is easy, other two are hard.

Personally I think it just comes down to luck. I've beaten them with a pure caster with only base vit which was not fun using a decent human summon and the NPC caster. I've also beaten them with my 'joke character' who is surprisingly decent who uses a caestus fist weapon(only took 3 tries) using again a good human player and the NPC caster. However... I died at least 10 times last night trying to get past them using my STR character wielding the great sword. I got close but everyone I summoned was a moron or if I went in with just the NPC caster it would all come down to just one mistake in timing. Not really a fan of the great sword at least in this battle although I'm still getting use to it I suppose.

Doesn't the Dragonrider bow also scale with INT? Why still not used my 2nd Dragonrider soul debating if be worth it

I use the Dragonrider bow as a Quality build and the thing is just an absolute monster... I almost feel bad using it because it's so cheap against certain enemies.

Aww boo, there's barely any straight sword boss soul weapons.

Yes.. all of the boss weapons pretty much suck, except for the bow. If you want a really great straight sword:

Go for the Sun Sword (join the Heirs of the Sun covenant and do 20 coop boss kills) at +10 it has 175 base damage and A strength and dex scaling. It also has the thrust attack as it's R2!

Were you human?
No, i played most of the game as hollow. So if i go into human form, then the summon signs will appear?

EDIT: What do i get if i
choose yes to the request from Navlaan? To kill the NPCs. I've read that you dont have to kill any NPCs, just buy or find the items elsewere, is that right?

Sad I didn't get that dragon rider bow! Ignored it as I'm playing cleric.

Think I'm going to go murder Targray and check out his halberd. I'm on the verge of respeccing my cleric from mostly str to str and dex for the dragonslayer spear, but want to check other viable options first. Not really looked at halberds yet.

So at the bonfire in Lo
st Bastille there is this statue blocking the bonfire. I've heard it's the boss souls guy. How do I bring him back to life?

How do you summon NPCs? I played through the whole game solo and i didnt summon anyone, nor did i see any summon signs. What am i missing?

Were you in human form and were you online? Also, did you accidentally join the Victor's Covenant?

You'll need a
Fragrant Branch of Yore. There's one after beating Lost Sinner in the Sinner's Rise right after Lost Bastille - watch out, hard boss though. Be careful though, as they're reasonably rare in the game, and there are multiple people you may want to unpetrify (such as the statue blocking the way from Majula to the Shaded Woods)

You need a
Fragrant Branch of Yore or something similar to that name
. They seem to be scattered around the world, seem to be quite limited too.

You need a Fragrant Branch of Yore, if you have one in you're inventory, the game will ask you if you want to use it if you get close to him.

Fought the chariot boss last night with a couple of phantoms. What a crazy fight, but it really shows the greatness of the series. Not only the summons, but I read the messages to lower the gate before the fight, and do a pincer attack on the horse. He would be pretty hard to solo but thats a fun fight as a group.

So there is supposed to be a 3rd boss somewhere in Hunters Copse? I've killed the Chariot and the Skeleton lords. Don't know where the 3rd is.

I usually play it online, but i'm mostly playing as hollow. I guess maybe i need to be in human form, then i can see the summon sign? Do i have to be online to summon NPCs by the way?

No, i actually didnt join any covenants before after i beat the game :)

You can't summon unless you're human.
I see. So i just need to be in human form, then i can see the NPC summon signs?

Thanks for this tip. I'm going to go for it this evening. The fire longsword has really started to become useless.

Had to summon two guys to help me beat the
Ruin Sentinels
. Cuz fuck them and their stupid ass spinning attacks. First time I summoned people in a Souls game. It was fun.

Yep, you need to be human to see any summon signs (human or NPC). I believe if you join the Victor's Covenant (I didn't) that it prevents summons as well.

You will need to be online for human summons. You should still be able to get NPC summons offline, though.

Nothing you can do. Just memorize his pattern and hope you survive. I fought him naked while two-handing my fully upgraded lighting uchigatana

Wha!

First off:
where is uchigatana?

And second:
How lightning? I was under the impression you needed to beat smelter demon to get the stuff to imbue elements into weapons.
