PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | March 2014

5min of Unit 13, 3 strikes already: touch-only menus, unskippable cutscenes, 20fps.

To the bottom of the backlog it goes.

I deleted after completing the tutorial. As well as the design crimes you've mentioned, not having gyro aim was the biggest killer for me. Been spoilt by Killzone.

Touch only bullshit can die in a fire though.

Apparently inFamous Second Son is gonna retail physical for 70 euros. I wish I had realized that sooner, I would've jumped on the spend $60 deal. The retail prices over here are ridiculous.

Although I'm really enjoying God Eater 2... it seems really easy. I'm pretty far into Rank 2 and the bigger Aragami aren't really even challenging yet, most missions can be completed in a few minutes. It really doesn't feel like a Monster Hunter clone either, since the missions are done in such short bursts and it's all really fast paced and frantic.

Still lots of fun and very pretty though,

So have there been any good vita sales or new game announcements? I've been completely engrossed in Dark Souls 2 and haven't checked any topics outside of the OT for a week.

Mostly stays that way throughout though there's a few missions near the end that are pretty difficult. Downloadable missions might be harder too but I haven't grabbed those yet.

It's probably not financially viable to have larger game cards.

Well, something's gotta give. Either Sony finds a way to make it viable, publishers eat the cost, or we start getting gimped games due to game card size restraints. And I don't like the last choice.

There is a EU Rockstar sale on PSN. Link is Gaf thread.

GTAIV with all DLCs is 9.99€ damn! I hate you driving license! First you steal my FFX HD money and now this! Life is hard. When I have time to play games I don't have the money. When I have the money to play games I won't have enough time to play all of them. #sadgamingfacts.

I'm about to finish the last Liu Bei story chapter in Next. There is a stage when you have to fight with the strategist (which had shitty weapons since I don't like how it plays) and I almost smash my Vita during the fucking duel. I've died like 10 times because it sucks! Attack animation was really long for that character :(

You imported God Eater 2? Any further impression?

World of overpriced indie games?

You can get AAA games for 5 euros on steam and net cost of getting retail disc on day one and selling it few days later is also like 10-15 euro.

I am so sick of the "______ is super cheap on Steam" reply. Yes, games go on sale on Steam. We get it. This is not news to anyone, especially as it gets brought up in literally every conversation about indie games on consoles.

Hi there, non-JPaccount peasants.

Dangan Ronpa 1+2 is only 2417 yen for two weeks starting April 2 for PS+ members on the JP store. :)

That's roughly 13 USD per Dangan Ronpa.

I didn't *hate* unit 13.

I'd probably have resented paying for it, if I had... But I didn't... So...

Anyway, I got nowhere near completing it but it was fun for a bit.

So, Spike Chunsoft is releasing Guacamelee in Japan for Vita and PS3 with the name 覆面闘士 (Kamen Toushi, or Masked Warriors).

Releases next week, good news for our JP Vitabros.

Is the consensus on Unit 13 "Don't bother downloading?" I will definitely try Thomas Was Alone.

For me it is straight to the backburner game. Play it only if you have no choice / games left territory. Although I'm biased against FPS games so find other opinions too.
You don't need english when you can understand Japanese!
Weaboo. /JK Not everyone can read Japanese you know. I love to learn too but work + huge backlog of games double teamed on my time.

This talk about Unit 13 reminds me: Fuck that game. I live in the Netherlands and my Vita is set to English (as it should), but all of Unit 13 is in French if you do that. I had to manually set my Vita to Dutch before booting up the game. And then everything, except speech which thankfully was in English, was in Dutch. And then I had to remember to put my Vita back to English when I was done. I don't know why I put up with that, especially considering that the game is not very good at all.

yeah i figured as much

this is an English speaking forum..............

I did specify that it's on the JP store, did I not? If you failed to see that, then that's not my problem. :/

As far as I am concerned, there's a God Eater 2 and Sen no Kiseki threads out there. And it's not in english. And for many other games as well.

Of course it's just a joke, since I did mention that it was on the Japan store.

On a more serious note, Weaboos don't Japanese. Isn't that why they're called weaboo?

I can't seem to find much discussion of SteamWorld Dig right now, but reviews are positive and someone compared it to Spelunky and Terraria (but linear), so I just bought it. Sounds like the perfect game to keep me entertained until Infamous.

I liked Unit 13. It's simple and a bit generic, but I found it mechanically solid and the replayable, bite-sized missions were a good alternative to a (likely) forgettable six hour campaign. My favorite thing about it was the methodical pacing of the combat, running and gunning will get you kilt, that's pretty rare for a cover shooter these days. You should at least "purchase" it on the SEN website so it's in your download list.

I platinumed that nonsense... and enjoyed doing it? I was either really high for a month, or was willing to give anything the benefit of the doubt during the post-launch Vita drought.

I like it so far. There's a lot of story and cutscenes - huge cast of characters too. It's visually really appealing as well. That said the combat doesn't seem all that deep and like I said the missions are really, really short. Like under 5 minutes generally. It feels a bit more hack and slash than I'd like but it's still fun, I'm enjoying it so far. I'd say it requires at least basic level Japanese understanding to navigate the menus and do crafting stuff and whatnot.

Yea, also checked few PSVita & PS4 reviews, going to grab this game.

Man you all are a spoiled bunch. Of course playing any shooter after Killzone will be met with substandard results. Unit 13 is a good game, among some issues. It's not a story shooter. It's not a real "tactical" shooter. It's an arcade shooter. Yes there are some tactics to employ from time to time, but not a ton. The AI is a joke. Lack of gyro anything is also a farce. There is no story either, just a bunch of missions cobbled together. But overall? Imagine it as "The Club: Vita Edition". Bite sized missions where the highest score is the goal. There's even a randomizer that will change the entire mission structure up, for single or co op play.

It's free. It's a launch title. It was never touted as a system seller. But it IS a fun game that many of you are passing on because omg it's not killzone. If you like arcade shooters where memorization will net you crazy scores, give it a shot. Some of the reasons I see people posting as a reason to pass on it are laughable.
