Central earthen peak has given me the most difficulty so far. From missing jumps to constant poison, bitches with pyromancy and those fast as feck headless dudes.

Doesn't help I just switched to a halberd and it's hitting walls in narrow corridors. The jab attack is rather weak.

I see. As perorist mentioned, maybe you havnt killed off all soldiers yet? Try searching on both sides. On the left side, there is a small "hallway", its a dead end, but maybe some soldiers are down there.

Go to
the forrest where the Shrine of Winter is located. There is a path there that leads to a King's Symbol door. No, you dont have to kill Vendrick.
I've done
Aldias Keep. I've done the memories I have all four great souls and all four giant souls... Where do I go?

Harvest Valley ambush with all those hookmen was fucking shit. Really bad design imo. You have almost no space and they just mob you to death.

There's a trick to the area that makes it more tolerable, especially the boss:
Start at the bonfire that was right behind the mist wall and light your torch there. Walk a few feet away towards the balcony and walk up the rubble to burn the windmill. This will disable all the moving cogs and as a result will drain the area's poison.

This game is huge, there are so many little secret areas, or places behind locked doors, etc. I keep thinking I'm making progress towards completion, then I enter a brand new area and am humbled again.

How did some people already finish this game?

What weapons are you guys using?

I've been rocking my wooden stick all game long practically. The only downside is the low durability, but the club has A scaling and it's pretty great at +10. Considering switching to the great club? But for the huge weapons I am already digging the
Pursuer's Sword
.

I just accidentally trashed my first treasure chest in the
Black Gulch
near the (presumably) boss fog door, hope it wasn't anything good!

I hate this area btw, I mean it looks awesome but those fucking statues that spit poison are annoying and I haven't managed to avoid getting poisoned at least 2 or 3 times on the way, those things that come out of
the tar pits you can set on fire
are also disgusting, I love/hate them! Kinda look like the bottom of an octopus or Screaming Meat's avatar!

I haven't managed to survive that yet. I tried using Iron Flesh but still got gangbanged. Reminded me of the TotG area where the large divine ember is with the giant skeleton ambush, but worse!

I beat em the first time. Just kept running around them in the pit dodging em, then ran up the sides trying to get all the treasure before they killed me. Then one of those blocked areas was the way out. Then I drew them out one by one. I didn't have to, but revenge and all that.

I ran into the opening that leads to the lizard path and cheezed them one at a time. They will only go so far into the opening. Works pretty well!

Ah, I need to bust through those barricades asap then.

Same. Mind the first time I went in, I got really annoyed because it did seem, well, more than a bit unfair. They are much stronger than the ones previously faced. But once you bust that specific doorway open, it's much more manageable.

I did miss the
frigging lizard
though, so I'm going to have go back through there :(

I joined the bell, and often go naked with a channelers trident and just dance. The reactions have largely been awesome. once now a second bell grey has pulled out a trident and we both just followed the host around dancing as he wrapped up the area and challeneged the boss.

Got totally hosed by a naked gray phantom who was trolling me in the bell tower. Was never so amused/annoyed at the same time.

Does the Smelter Demon even have a weakness?

His attacks are easy enough to dodge but my weapons +5 greatsword is tickling him. What resin works the best? sticky white stuff didn't seem to do much.

Bastard Sword +10 atm. Rocking a quality build.
Thinking about respecing to full strenght if i can get some more chunks to upgrade a better scaling strength weapon.

I'm using a Bastard sword too. Only +6 right now. Trying to up my Dex to use a Great Sword as a secondary for mobs.

where exactly is the NPC summon sign in No Man's Wharf? I killed the place to extinction already. can't find it :

In the little hallway where you pull a cord to open a shortcut door.

Clubs to decent damage to him or maces. I am rocking the giant club + 5 and doing full damage. Still just learning how to dodge him.

Been using the Drangleic sword since I got it, but since it takes twinkling to upgrade I really haven't been able to upgrade it much at all. Is there another good greatsword with the thrust r2 that I should be getting and upgrading? Every other greatsword I've gotten seems to have much lower attack.

It's
in the small corridor containing the shortcut door. If you follow the path and drop down to the next town section after the lever that calls the ship there's a small door leading into a house containing another door that can only be opened from that side that lets you skip past some of the level. Lucatiel's summon sign is right in front of it.

So what are the reasons that the White Soapstone is randomly unusable? I'm most recently seeing it like this at the Door of Pharros bonfire right before
Royal Rat Authority
. Does it have something to do with the area being a PVP summon area or something like that?

So, I haven't played Dark Souls in quite some time.. was more of a Demons Souls veteran...

I started Dark Souls 2 as a swordsman, and I know you can't parry if you're dual wielding. Ok... It's supposed to be more offensive, right? So your basic options are attack -> roll? I've read a little bit about power stance, but I don't see it's full utility this early.

Should I just throw a shield on? I'm only a couple of hours in, but dual wielding feels really weird right now.

Is there a good resource for learning all the ins and outs of combat, etc. in this game?

Dumb question, how do I level up my weapon with lightning, fire and things like that? Seems like I can only use large titanite shards and chunks to level my falchion all the way to +10. Is there anything to do with the blacksmith in
Lost Bastille
?

Yep,
McDuff in the Lost Bastille
is the only blacksmith for elemental upgrades.

No, i ranked up belltower covenant to 2. then switched just so i could try some others out then went back.
Its fine.

Worth seeing the belltower covenant out just for the 100 chunks.
sometimes you invade and you get the chunk immediately as someone else just killed him instead lol.

Okay cool. Yeah I really like the bell tower covenant in this game, more than the forest covenant. I don't know why. But I'm having a lot more fun in PvP in this game than I ever did in Dark Souls. The level 3 ranks for most covenants seem insaaaaaane though.

I'm using the dragonlic sword and the Greatsword that is like +3 or something (the big ass sword).

The smaller one is great for one on one and the giant sword is good for all of the bosses that have multiple foes.

If you're being invaded then your sign will disappear. It's either that or the bug where summon signs don't work. Or you're in the Champion covenant, which disables co-op.

NO one seems to be doing that on any summon I get. Almost instantly poisoned on boss and we all die.

I believe there are items that specifically change your weapon to different versions. So instead of upgrading through a path to a Lightning branch, you just apply the lightning item to your weapon at any point in the level up process and then just keep leveling it with titanite (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

He doesn't attack you, but...

Youll be wise to stay out of my tower.
Ill bring the thunder down on you.

You guys talking about grey phantoms? Cause I just closed the door and stayed on the bridge until my invader left, haha

Another question: I see a lot of people rocking non-elemental weapons (lots of Bastard Sword +10's and Longsword +5's etc.). Is there any reason one would not prefer having an element added to their weapon?

Arch, NO one seems to be doing that on any summon I get. Almost instantly poisoned on boss and we all die.

After helping a ton of people with Sinner and noone at all had the room light up I wasn't about to try to get summoned for that boss knowing it would be the same.

Grey phantoms can open that door, so don't know why he would leave.

Adding an element generally wrecks the stat scaling and lowers the base damage a bit too, trading for the elemental scaling (faith, int, etc).

someone please explain to me about int and sorcery damage scaling:

So here's what I think:

raising your INT value has two affects to increase spell damage. One is increasing the "Magic BNS" stat and one is increasing the Magic Damage from Staves. Is this correct?

In other words a staff with a higher scaling to Int should theoretically do more damage than one with a lower Int scaling.

If this is correct, then reinforcing a staff which boosts the base Magic damage of a staff increases sorcery damage, correct?

besides items are there other stats I should be aware of that modifies sorcery damage?
