If you guys mean in the Bastille,
there's a pair of hidden doors near the top of the tower, in the room with the 2 zombie prisoners hidden in vases, in one of the little alcoves. You open the first one then there's another inside that little room. Afterwards, there's a bunch of treasure on the roof, and then you have to jump to the wall and run all the way around to get the last treasure. It's a shield and i think a firefly jar?
hope that helps.

Thanks!

I like how the
Smelter
is easier in ng+ because Lucatiel learned how to block.

Speaking of catalysts and scaling, is there a staff somewhere that has better Int/Magic scaling? I'm still using the starter one that splits between Int/Magic and Dark.

If you go to Huntsman's Copse, there's a vendor there who will

a: sell an Archdrake staff if you have 8 faith in addition to your int

or

b: just give you Sunset Staff if you have 20int/20faith, aka the best Dark staff in the game, while also featuring an A in int scaling

That's the earliest I can think of.

Wait, so now in NG+
bosses have adds? Because I hate that...

Some, not all.

Yes there is a shortcut from the blacksmith fire,
open the door that just opens to a straight drop off. Then from the bonfire run up the walkway and take the first right where a dog is waiting, Sprint forward off the ledge and you'll land right in the open door.

Holy crap that's well hidden,
assumed that door was just a trick to kill people

Thanks :)

Aromatic Ooze won't go on the Heide sword in my experience. I didn't try any resins but I don't think they would be any different.

I mean permanently, tho.

Haven't bothered with the temporal enchantments, but I am told that a Lightning weapon miracle (dunno the name) can stack over Lightning elemental weapons.

Seriously cant beat ruin sentinels in my own game. Its been 3 days since I've gotten to them. Only have beaten them once in co-op and every time I summon people to my world they always die leaving me to fight the last two by myself. Im level 41 so this is pretty bad lol

Summon Luciteil. She tanks them like nobody's business.

Sunbros Covenant question:
Is the Sun Sword any good? I'm doing a lot of co-op anyway so I'm only 8 medals away from it.

From what I have heard yes. And I am working towards it as well.

It has A/A scaling for STR and DEX and a nice move set

Lucatiel is pretty much the best at running into swords, yeah. But I don't think you can summon her for them?

Maybe you could bring her back from sinners rise if you used the shortcuts to skip that boss to get there, idk. There is another magic user npc summon sign in one of the cells right before the boss though as well.

The NPC that sells 5? Yep.

Should I hack up the old women in the hut at the start? I've heard they drop 9 or something like that.

I didn't see your original question, but if you talk to the old lady who offers respec later in the game she gives you 6 anyway, no need to accumulate sin. (I'm not sure what the "trigger" point is for her to give them to you).

Also, the
undead NPC in the crypt
sells a bunch of them.

Talking of the Lost Bastille, i remember being summoned into another players world and the Tower where Lucatiel hangs out had a torch lit in the upper level. Any idea how you get up there?

Why is it nonsense?

One of the major reasons I'd do co-op in Demon's Souls / Dark Souls (in addition to the fun of doing the fight again), was to regain my humanity. It's one of the few mechanic changes that I'm not the biggest fan of. I also noticed that if you beat a boss solo while hollow, you don't regain your humanity.

God rat covenant is so damn fun. I never really got into PvP in dark souls 1 but fucking with people in this covenant is so deliciously evil.

I'm currently trapping and killing people to get (covenant reward spoilers)
smooth and silky stones
, but I feel pretty bad about it. The fights are so ridiculously one-sided. At least I help people in coop a lot to balance out my karma. I also always leave a human effigy at the summon spot to not hurt my innocent opponent's progress too much.

Is it weird that I don't feel like playing through the
lost bastille?

I feel like this level is almost brilliant but is missing something. As you go though lighting torches and bonfires, the ambiance definitely improves and I like the color scheme of blue-black night, white stone and orange fire. I feel like there should have been an additional goal:

What would have been really cool to me is if there was a string of torches and as you brought light throughout the area, it unlocked hidden areas or made fights easier. They sort of did that with TLS, but imagine if lighting a torch in the room with 6 annoying knights destroyed that room (it is full of oil barrels), or if mummies were scared of fire like the things in No-Mans Wharf so lighting torches in their area made the boss run easier, or if lighting the torch by the archers at the bonfire cause them to spawn elsewhere, just something to reward you for bringing light back to the world.

I'm guessing I need a different ember to make weapons out of the boss souls? I gave the blacksmith the dull ember and he can only infuse weapons.

The boss I'm up to is invulnerable to fire and I just happen to use a Fire Longsword, haha, this should be fun.

I just got 480k souls by killing an invader in the Bell Tower... wut

I'm not sure if I want to use them or not. Right now that is 28 levels.

Iron Keep seems to be the place for co-op. I am literally summoned within 5 seconds of writing my summoning sigil on the ground, every single time. :)

Sweet, I'll try it soon.

Right outside her room, you can sort of climb up the broken wall and there is a ladder to the top. Like other torches though, it doesn't do anything.

Man everytime I summon someone we stay there doing nice gestures for like 10 seconds. Every single time. Same thing when we kill a boss. Dat nice DS community *sniff*

Two questions about unreachable items.

1) In Lost Bastille, after you go up the stairs outside of the wall that explodes, if you look up and to the left, there is an item on a corpse REALLY high up. How do you get to that?

2) After you kill the scorpion boss (forgot her name), there is a tree with a corpse at the top of the tree. How do you get to that?

Ran through Iron Keep with no death, feels good.

Boss soul items are from two different vendors/smiths, actually.
One's from the petrified man in Lost Bastille. The other is an NPC you save in a different level.

I think I've screwed my game. My life is just about half way as I've been trying to beat those darn
Gargoyles
I've used up all my effigies I found or bought from the travelling merchant... Lost them too because I kept getting invaded in the
Bellfry Luna.

Can I farm/buy any more?

I've noticed in some areas Im not able to put down my soul sign anymore for Co-Op...

is there some internal cap for being summoned in an area?

You don't need embers for that at all. There are
2 NPCs
in the game that make boss soul weapons (and spells), and an ember is not required.
Both of them do require you "saving" them first though.

I was summoned as a grey phantom in the Grave of Saints and basically the Red Phantom ran away from me the entire time. He used the well in the middle of the room as a buffer so I could never get close enough to attack. So basically, after 20 mins of Yakety Saxin' around with this guy I quit out...

Is there a in game penalty for doing this?

A person who worked on the official guide said there's a penalty for disconnecting. No details on what the punishment is.

Think the rat fights, since they are summoned to fight you in your world, don't cause them to lose anything when they die. Just the inconvenience of being summoned.

Wow, you're incredibly (unreasonably?) generous. You know if you kill them as a phantom, it doesn't actually kill them right? They just go back to their game like nothing happened.

I don't know about your question, but I believe you can use the (starting item)
Black Seperation Crystal
to escape.

I don't know which tower you mean, I confused :(

:P

There's also a ladder that goes down to a roof that I can't access, might leave this stuff for NG+

Hopefully none of it is vital

Tonight was a mess. I've explored several locations and have no idea where I'm going. Seems I've missed a couple of boss fights too. Weird.

Oh, I see. Well, I really like the sense of comradery in the Souls games ('facing a harsh unforgiving world together', that sort of soapy themes) so I felt like I sold my soul a little killing people for personal gain.
